Rosie remained quiet at first, piecing together what Dove had said, before she nodded, showing she understood. "So thats what happened when you ran out?"
She lifted her gaze, blue eyes finding the other girl. "He's been fighting that... he had to today when i visited him. I'm not sure why, but he said something about Asch being dead? and its his fault."

She glanced over when Pastin stepped up next to her, peering over at her quietly.

"are you okay?" She asked Dove, though could clearly see she was still upset about something.

No, she wasn't okay, but she wasn't the one to worry about anyway. She swallowed hard and turned to pull a can of tea leaves from her cabinet, putting a few into a tea strainer just before it slipped from her fingers, tea leaves scattering across the floor at her bare feet. She sat her hands on the counter, willing herself not to add it to the pile of things gone wrong as a few tears escaped.

"Asch is dead, Rosie."

Rosie had heard Luke say it... even though she couldn't be sure, just be confused.
But when Dove said it, and confirmed it, Rosie's shoulders drooped, along with her gaze."... oh... no." She said weakly. "Oh, no Asch..."

Pastin lifted his head, looking between the human girls, before nuzzling his nose into Rosie's shoulder, but the girl didn't reply, keeping her head bowed. "No."

Dove kept her head down, ignoring the tea kettle as it whistled. "He gave his life to save Luke. His heart was a perfect match, and he wanted to die so Luke could live," she said evenly, half trying to convince herself of the same thing, that Asch had a pure motive in mind. "...I read the letter myself."

Rosie clenched her hands into fists when Dove explained what had happened, still hiding her face under her hair as she kept her gaze on her feet.
After a few second she walked forward, sitting down on the first chair she could find and placed her hands over her face, not a single sound coming from the blond trainer.

She swallowed hard, her throat completely dry, then turned away to move the pot of boiling water from the stove to stop the whistle. Once that was done, she moved to the couch just across from the chair Rosie now sat in, folding her hands and setting her nose to her fingers, willing herself not to break again.

"Luke didn't take the news well at all, and I just...panicked with him... I'm not close enough to any of you to have been the one to bring that upon him-- I shouldn't have been there, and I...I can't apologize enough, Rosie..." she explained, her voice breaking more than once.

"They were getting closer." she said, pulled her palms away from her mouth, pressing her fingers into her forehead. "It started off so bad, so bad for them. but they were getting closer." her voice rose as she couldn't control the tears welling up in her eyes.
"Luke wanted them to be brothers." she burst out emotionally "We were going to save Kodo, we were going to win and they were going to be brother, like they should have been. Oh noooo."
Rosie whimpered again, bowing forward into her lap. "Oh Asch, please, no."

Dove watched helplessly from the other couch, saying nothing more. After a few moments, she rose to her feet and took up the blanket from the back of her lounge, then draped it over the girl's shoulders with shaky hands, then returned to the kitchen to prepare tea for the both of them.

When the warm drinks were finished and a tissue box taken from the counter, she sat them on the coffee table then took a seat on the arm of the chair Rosie occupied, desperately trying to find a way to comfort the girl. "I...I'm so sorry, Rosie..." she whispered, tears of her own falling down her cheeks.

Rosie didn't move from where she was for some time, crying into her knees, her hands tucked against her face.
She couldn't get it out of her head, everything that Luke and Asch had been through. she couldn't get over the fact that Asch was dead... He had done terrible things, he had hurt them, but She knew he wasn't a terrible person.
Returning Vahy'n, returning Mieu, and even now... Asch sacrificed himself to save his own brother, one that he didn't get to know as well as he should have been allowed to.

Luke was alive now becasue of Asch, their pokemon were alive, well, and home becasue of Asch.
That thought alone, coupled with the reality that Asch was never going to be able to have a chance to fit in with everyone, left Rosie bent forward into her knees, crying for her friend, and his brother.

At some point she picked herself up, still holding her face, but was able to collect a couple of the tissues, trying to clean her face up.
"Luke found out when you read the letter?" She asked weakly.

Dove nodded, her tears quiet, but falling steadily. "Yes... unfortunately...I shouldn't have read it, and now I'm not sure how he's..."

She took a few of the tissues for herself, refusing to let her emotions get loud.

Rosie shook her head softly, "He's not talking much, He's upset, but really how... " She stopped, pressing the tissue to her eye as she took a moment to gather her self again enough to talk. "He just lost his mama, and now his brother. He's in so much pain right now,"
She replayed the previous afternoon over in her head, the things he had said, how he had reacted...

"Was he blaming himself too?" she asked, turning blurry eyes up to Dove. "When you saw him last night?"

"I saw him yesterday morning, and... haven't had the courage to try to see him again... not after..."

She turned away, wiping tears away from her eyelashes with her fingertips. "He just..." Her words fell short as her throat tightened, and she shook her head, trying to rid it of the memories: the panic, the letter, the nurses, the needle, being escorted out, then Yuri....

Dove didn't answer her question, leading Rosie to the assumption that he probably had been.

The blond just shook her head, lowering her head back into her hands. Pastin walked over, bowing his head brushing the side of his face against her head, trying to console his little lady.
A hand found Pastin's other cheek as she leaned into him.
"He got upset." she said weakly, knowing what Dove was going to say, Remembering what Luke had said to her when she had gotten him to talk, and he voiced his concerns to her.
"Did he shout at you?"

She forced her voice to an audible level. "He just...he was so broken, and he... he didn't want to believe it. " Not that anyone ever would want to believe something like that. "He kept telling me that Asch had a terrible sense of humor...and he kept shouting...'take it back' and..." she shook her head again.

She again tried to shake the memories of his face, biting back the tears. "Is he okay? You've seen him, right?" Rosie was good at these things... maybe she had helped him. Surely she had helped him.

Rosie glanced up, blinking her eyes to try and clear her vision. "Broken?" She asked, almost startled to hear the word to describe Luke, all she could really do was shake her head. "He's in pain," she tried to replace "After what he just learned... how... how upsetting, I can't even-" She drew her hand up over her forehead pushing back her hair
"If I had lost Faleen, after mom died. I don't know what I-..." She shook her head, not even okay with thinking about that possibility. and dreading that its something Luke was living now.

She nodded when Dove asked if she had seen him, looking down at her knees again "I don't think he's going to be okay for a while... Its too soon. He was sleeping when i left, but..." She shook her head.
