[FIN] Finish the Promise

Yuri's anger subsided for just a moment at that.

"What will happen again?" he asked.  

[Suudonym]

Hints of emotion stole into the boy's expression, taking the form of a slight fear as clarity began to leak through his thoughts. "This," referencing his attempt on his own life. He drew a breath to speak, but a small, worried laugh followed instead. Eventually he managed his meager explanation, "This is… kind of terrifying." Where were the thoughts even coming from? Certainly he didn't actually want to die. He hardly even felt like himself anymore.

Yuri frowned. "Yeah? Then what's possessed you to do this?"

Honestly, the man didn't know how much more he could put up with this.  

[Suudonym]

He raised his bandaged hand lightly, "Same thing that made me think this was necessary, I guess." The 'accident' he had so insisted on.

Yuri's gaze flicked down to Luke's bandaged hand and then back to the boy's face.

"So you think punishing yourself is the answer? Is that it?"

Cause he was trying really hard to understand this and coming up short.  

[Suudonym]

"That's not…" He drew his hands into themselves, staring adamantly downward. Another long breath, and a meager voice, "Do you think it's possible that I'm not sane?"

Yuri let out a breath. "I'm definitely starting to wonder," he admitted. Cause really, Luke's behavior was not rational. There wasn't a shred of reasoning in what he'd been doing lately. None of it made any sense.  

[Suudonym]

The boy deflated. "Yeah," he said. "Me too."  

[BlackPidgeot]

Again Yuri sighed. "You can get through this," he reminded the kid. Whether Luke believed it or not. "And you can start by busting out of here."  

[Suudonym]

Slowly he picked himself up from the floor, standing more or less steadily and nodding in agreement. Being trapped in the manor at his father's whim was honestly the last thing he wanted now. He didn't know what would change from being in Kodo, but he certainly didn't want to stay in Grande Ile.

Yuri smiled as Luke picked himself up and nodded. "That's more like it." He then paused... "Just uh... let me get on some clothes first."

Cause Yuri was only wearing a pair of night pants at the moment. Luke didn't exactly give him time to get dressed.

Another nod, and a realization, "I need to get a few things myself." He didn't particularly care for the days' worth of clothing he had brought - fortunately his father hadn't had time to arrange for the rest of his belongings to be transported yet - but there were still essentials he refused to leave behind. Leaving Yuri to his own preparations, Luke made his way to Lord Fabre's study, relieved to find that the door hadn't been locked overnight and that the room was unoccupied. Moving quietly but quickly, as if he would suffocate to remain in that building much longer, he searched the wide desk for the sought items: his pokemon, his pokedex, and especially the letter Asch had addressed to him. These things in his possession, Luke moved to return to Yuri. Somewhere within him he recognized the fact that it wouldn't be easy to leave the manor's premises, but that wasn't a particular concern at the moment. The means hardly mattered; his exodus was necessary.

While Luke did his thing, Yuri went back to his room, Repede meeting him in the hall. His sword being slid back into it's sheath as he went. The man quickly dressed back into his fancy clothes considering they were the most readily available.

Nothing else was really important and would just get in the way and slow him down. Thus taking his sword and Repede, he walked back out into the hall and found Luke waiting for him.

"C'mon, let's go for the back gate," the man suggested, quickly making his way in that direction.

Luke stood with his arms loosely folded and his eyes down, his attention shifting to Yuri at the swordsman's return. He gave a brief nod in response and moved to follow in the suggested direction.

Dashing out of the manor and out through the gardens, Yuri led the treck to the back gate. It was still guarded but not as heavily as the front, and they'd be less prepared for something like this there.

Ducking behind a tall hedge, Yuri peered out at the single guard that was stationed there. They would have to get past him. Fortunately, Yuri's years of tormenting Guarde officials had given him plenty of experience. Picking up a stone, Yuri took a moment to judge the distance and to take aim. Especially since there were bars he'd have to toss through. Thankfully, hand-eye coordination was something he was good at.

He then reeled his arm back and chucked the stone. "AGH!" cried the guard, unsuspectingly getting hit in the back of the head. The dull thud of a body hitting the ground being heard.
