[EXAM] Tending the Lost (Sophie)

She felt a little bad beating up the robot but if it was the only way she could get the stupid virus out, it was better than nothing. Besides, Sophie had faith that Moira would be able to repair any damages done.

Another fist came up, this time aiming for the joints the fluid was leaking; aiming directly for whatever it was that was controlling the robot. She landed a small blow; but it was better than missing completely. Her attack was followed by one from the robot and a large hand grazed her hip - though a graze from a robot was a little stronger than a graze from something Sophie's size.

She went to land another hit, pressing her foot into the ground to launch herself up. Unfortunately, she stepped in a puddle of the sticky fluid the robot was leaking moments before. When she pushed up, her leg slipped out from underneath her and she crashed face first into the ground with a groan.

The virus took that as an opportunity to thwap her on the back and she groaned and rolled away before standing up.

She was slumping a little now; there was only so many hits from a giant robot a ghoul could take before she started to feel them; undead or not. But it didn't deter her; now she was angry and it just made her that much more determined.

Reaching for the joints again, her fist connected heavily and she pulled it back just as quickly as it had shot forward. Not quick enough to avoid the countering blow; but enough that it didn't knock her head off her shoulders.

Sophie figured aiming for the virus itself was probably the best bet. She could knock it out without beating on the robot. Who knew how much damage it had already taken without Sophie adding.

So once again, she reached for the joints and knocked the thing square in the whatever kind of limb that was. A direct hit; followed by another counter attack that Sophie was too slow to avoid. But she was dealing damage, it seemed and that was pretty cool.

She knew it was close to being done. Its movements were slower; more sluggish and it was crouching instead of standing tall. Just a few more hits, surely and it'd be done and they could get rid of it.

She aimed again, a fist shooting forward for a connect. It wasn't as hard as her last one but that didn't matter anymore. Now it was just a matter of making it stop. The counter attack was ignored; she expected them now.

She was getting a little too cocky, it seemed. She lunged forward but was too confident in her own abilities - as pathetic as they may be - and she tripped over her own feet; stumbling right past the robot and right into the trash behind it.

She was up as quickly as she fell, pulling away leftover food and wrappers from her hair and clothing. She sure loved to look like a total clutz in the worst of times.

She really had to save her reputation now - though she was pretty sure she didn't have one if she kept falling over in the middle of battle that might get her one..

This time she concentrated and when her fist hit, she felt the virus shudder and was glad to know she'd done something.

She was tired now and when her fist connected, it was weak. She took damage herself and flopped to the ground, sitting hunched. She wasn't sure she could fight any longer; she only hoped she had done enough. That it wasn't a waste and that Moira didn't regret asking her for help.

The virus let out a long wail that sounded beyond strange, combined as it was with an odd, jaggedy electric hiss. Eventually, the wail stuttered to a stop and died. The Trashbot collapsed immediately, but as it did so the dark viral shadow within dissipated, and there was a faint hum as the Trashbot's usual systems came online.

"Ahh... there, my precious!!" Moira cooed delightedly over the re-awakening, purified Trashbot - but only for a second. Then she hurried to Sophie. "Here, spookie," she said, holding out a pumpkin pill. "You did a wonderful job!!"

Sophie took the pill, happily swallowing it. It took a few seconds for her to feel the effects; but when it kicked in, she stood up and stretched out; a sigh or relief escaping her lips. She looked at the robot then back to Moira with a smile.
"Is she gonna be okay?"

"Yes, indeed!" Moira patted the Trashbot fondly on the head. "And I can repair all those dents you put in it, too. Don't worry about it! You had to do it, and you did well. Very well... Knob." She beamed at Sophie.

Sophie rubbed the back of her head sheepishly; the warm feeling of a blush creeping across her cheeks. "I'm just glad I was actually useful," she mumbled, moving over to her bag and making sure everything was in place before slinging it over her shoulder.
"I can help repair the dents if you want. Seeing as I caused them.." she mumbled. "I still feel bad for hitting her."

"You were, I assure you - I knew you could handle it. See, this was a test. Your exam, to be precise." Moira beamed. "Congratulations, spookie! You're a Knob now."

Sophie blinked a few times before what Moira said had actually sunk in. "Ah!" she gasped and stammered for a moment before giving a small bow of her head. "Thank you."

"You should go home and rest, spookie. You've had a big night!"
