Jac shook his head and opened the door. "It's fine. I messed up your shirt so you can use mine. Nuthin fancy but..." He shrugged and made his way out of the shopping center. The motel was a block down from the college, and the walk there took about five minutes. He led the way up to the second floor and unlocked the door. Thinking about it, form an outside perspective, this might look suspicious. "Um, you can come in if you want, or I could bring a shirt out for you. Your choice." He kicked a door jam under the door and walked inside. He opened up his drawer and looked at his three shirts. An Oingo Boingo shirt he had got from a concert, plain black shirt, and a nice dress shirt he probably should have hung up. He went with the plain black one. He closed the drawer and realized she would have to come in to change and felt stupid. Another sigh. He looked at her and handed her the shirt. "Bathroom's over there." he pointed to a door and went to busy himself with the dinky coffee machine that came with the room.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia followed him to the motel, realizing that she was willing to just follow some stranger to his home and borrow his shirt. As she followed him quietly, she became quite nervous, and preoccupied herself by sipping contently on her smoothie. It was really delicious, and it was a shame that she hadn't offered to buy him another one or something. It would be the least she could do, after all. Not that it was her fault, but... "Oh, um, okay." When they arrived, she followed him in but stayed close to the entrance, unsure if it would be rude to wander around the room. When he gave her the shirt she smiled gratefully. "Thanks a ton, I really owe you." Though it was his shake that had been painted all over her shirt, she still felt like she was being rude for borrowing one of his shirts. This wasn't how she expected her first friendship to be, but she supposed it wasn't the end of the world. Delia nodded and went into the bathroom, shutting the door behind her and not bothering to lock it. Careful not to get any excess chocolate in her hair, she peeled off the ruined blouse and pulled on the plain black shirt. She sighed, looking at herself in the mirror and frowning at how messy her mane of hair had already become. That, plus the uncontrollable pink blush in her cheeks, made her look like a flustered little girl. Sighing, she folded up the ruined shirt and opened the door, meeting him in the room. "Thanks again, really. I, um... I can give this back to you at some point..." she said, tugging at the shirt softly. ---

Jac had managed to figure out the coffee maker and had one cup nearly done brewing when Delia exited the bathroom. He looked over at her and saw the shirt was slightly big on her. "Uh-huh, whenever you're done just... I guess leave it at the door if I'm not here or something." He was going to offer her some coffee, but he saw she still had some smoothie left, so he kept quiet. He went into the tiny fridge and pulled out the ice drawer, grabbing a handful of cubes and tossing them into another cup and poured his coffee over the ice. Homemade Ice Coffee. It was too hot to drink hot coffee.
What now? He cleared his throat and took a sip off his now chilled coffee. It was bitter, but it was good. He had no sweetener or sugar to add to it. "So, college huh?" He started, trying to make conversation. His mood was lightening now that he was drinking caffeine. "What are you-" His phone rang. he jumped, but luckily, the liquid in his cup stayed in his cup. He hesitated, afraid of who it might be calling him. After a moment, he set down the cup and took out his phone, looking at the name. "Mog... What's he calling for?" He looked up at Delia, "One sec?" then walked outside and answered the phone. "Sup Mog?" "The hell are you bro?! s**t's gone loco over here man! What'd you do cabrón?!" "Woah, Claudio slow down. Whats going on?" "Freakin' gangsters holmes! Showed up a mi casa! Pinche hijos de puta!" he began his splee of Spanish curses. "Claud- hey! Claudio! Cállate!" he yelled in his friend's native language. His friend shut up, but was breathing heavy. "What happened? Are you alright?" "Man, they shot me man!" "What? Where? Go to the hospital!" "Yo sé! Yo sé! It's just the leg but why they at my house?!" "Look Claudio, I can't talk right now. Don't call me anymore. I'll call you. Just get out of there man. I'll call you when I can, but don't call me. Just... Go stay with your grandma for a while alright?" "Wait! Que?!" "Just do it!" He hit the end call button and stared at his phone for a moment, chewing on the inside of his cheek. He composed himself and came back into the room.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia nodded, sipping quietly on her smoothie. She was glad she still had some left; it kept her busy when she wasn't sure what else to say or do. Oddly enough, she didn't want to leave, but she also didn't want to overstay her welcome. When he began striking conversation, however, her mood perked up a little bit and she licked her lips, preparing to reply. However, his phone rang, cutting her off short. She nodded again with a polite "mhm", and watched as he left to go take the phone call. After he went outside, Delia stood there awkwardly for a moment and finished the rest of her smoothie. When she was done, she looked for a trash can and disposed of the empty cup. She could vaguely hear his voice from outside, but couldn't make out much of what he was saying. He sounded flustered, confused, and she hoped she wasn't interrupting anything important. Delia found herself wandering around the room, noticing that it looked as though he had just moved in. There wasn't even any personal stuff, except for a small stuffed dog that sat near the bed. A smile found its way to her lips again, just as Jac returned. "Is everything alright?" she asked, tilting her head to one side slightly. --- Kiyiya Sakura hehe... is it dumb that I'm proud that I could understand the Spanish? xd

"Er, yeah. Friend of mine is having... Family issues..." Not really... "Sorry about that... Um-" His phone went off again and he quickly hit the ignore button and turned his phone off. "Drama..".Then he remembered he was hopefully expecting a call from Todd the manager. He pulled his phone back out and realised it was too hopeful to think he would get a call not even an hour after the interview. He tossed the phine into the counter and looked at her, rolling his eyes, "So do you have a ride home or you need one?" he didn't want to sound rude, but she was still a stranger and he still needed to get things in order. He normally would not care if he was rude, but she had a kind of a lost, but happy puppy look about her that made it hard to be a jerk to her.
Marina Elemento Lol, it's not dumb. I s it safe to assume you're not Mexican or Spanish? I'm half Mexican and worked for Burger King and live in California. It would be shameful if I didn't know Spanish lol.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia bit the corner of her lip and watched him carefully. Something did seem to be wrong, but she was too polite to be nosy about it. She wasn't going to press him any longer. "It... it's okay." The awkwardness in the room was now evident to her and she felt as though she'd overstayed her welcome. Running a hand through her hair sheepishly, she replied, "Well, the school's not too far from here, so I could just walk," she replied rather nervously. She hoped he didn't think she was stupid, or incapable. So far this day was going in a much different direction than she'd originally expected. "I'm sorry for intruding," she mumbled. --- Kiyiya Sakura haha, yup, I'm not Spanish or Mexican. but I'm taking Spanish in school which I quite enjoy. that's cool!

Well, you're a jerk anyway. Jac thought to himself when she spoke of intruding. "Don't worry about it. I invited you, s'not intruding. I just have some stuff to take care of." He went to the door and kicked away the door stopper. "It was nice to meet you and everything though." He said as he stood by the door, holding it open. "And sorry about the shirt." he rubbed the bump on the back of his head with a slight wince. He went through his mental check list 'new cell phone and plan. I'll get one of those cheap prepaid things for now. New clothes for job interviews, make new bank account and close out the old one, and start working to move up north.'Living in cool northern states had been a dream of his for a long time. To own his own property, his own house, maybe even land enough for a small ranch. But there was no way he could come close to that. Not with his lack of a Diploma and criminal record.
He stood by the door, eyes slightly glazed over as he thought about all of this.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia took in a shaky breath and nodded, glad that she hadn't been too intrusive. That was the last trait she wanted to be labeled as, next to awkward and nerdy. She almost cringed to herself as she thought about it, then followed him out the door. "You too," she replied, genuinely glad she had met someone who was kind of in the same boat as her. She had been planning on talking to the locals, but spending the rest of the day with this guy wasn't too bad either. She was about to turn to leave, when she paused for a moment in thought. She turned back to face him then said, "I'll bring the shirt back to you tomorrow, kay? And hey, when you get everything taken care of and settled in, we should hang out some time." Delia smiled at him, hoping she wasn't being too straight forward. With that being said, she turned to leave and be on her way, still clutching her soiled shirt contently. --- Kiyiya Sakura Europe is pretty cool lol

Jacob "Jac" Fayden McClain
Jac snapped back to reality when Delia walked past him. "Okay, yeah. Like I said, just leave it by the door if I'm not here." At the second part of her statement he was caught off guard. "Uh... sure. Why not." He stood there and watched her leave, waiting until she was at the bottom of the stairs before blinking and recalling the event of that day. Woke up in jail, got let out, got my bike, interrogated the rat, took his money. After that, everything all blurred together. He closed his eyes and shook his head, going to the stairs and descending to the parking lot. He hopped on his bike and started it up, pulling out of the driveway and onto the street. He saw Delia walking on the sidewalk and glanced at her when he passed, wondering why she was so trusting. Jac could have easily taken advantage of her in many ways, but yet she still followed him into his room. Strange girl. A small part of him hoped no one found out about that little quirk of hers, but the majority of him reminded him not to care. He drove on, weaving through traffic, looking for a store that sold prepaid cellphones.
The sun was well set when Jac got back to his room and trudged inside. He tossed the keys on the little kitchen counter and dropped the shopping bags on the floor. He pulled out the perishables and stuck them in the tiny fridge and grabbed the box with his new phone, leaving the rest to wait until morning. He shuffled over to one of the beds, loosing his shoes along the way, and flopped down, tearing open the box. He activated the thing and added the minutes he had purchased onto it and began to copy down his contacts. When he finished, he turned off his old phone and took out the battery, pulling out the tiny sim card out from underneath. Now the GPS on his phone, if somehow Birchfield could access it, was deactivated. He should be safe enough now. He let the old phone drop onto the thick carpet and placed the new one on the bedside table. "Reminder to self, got talk to the manager of that sandwich joint first thing in the morning about new phone number." He mumbled to himself and passed out.
Marina Elemento This is true, but I'd spend the money to go to Ireland!

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia walked back to the school rather slowly, in no hurry to get back just to flop onto her bed and wait two hours before falling asleep. Part of her felt kind of miserable, for she had assumed that the day would be rather perfect. It was a stupid assumption though, but it was also silly to think that everything would go perfectly swell. As Delia walked home, she mumbled to herself in thought, realizing that she had acted like such a moron. He probably wanted nothing to do with her, and when she returned the shirt tomorrow, he probably wouldn't even be home. She couldn't help but to mentally kick herself as she arrived back to her dorm with a fallen face. "You must be Delia," a voice said as soon as she opened the door. Delia turned to see who it was, and it seemed her roommate had already settled in while she'd been gone; half the room was decorated with band posters and photos. The friendly smile automatically returned to Delia's face and she shut the door behind her. "Hi, it's nice to meet you," she said, holding out her hand. The blonde took it but didn't smile. "I'm Danielle." This girl seemed to find Delia's cheerful persona obnoxious, so Delia let go of her beaming smile and put her purse and shirt on her own bed, sitting at the edge to look at the damage. "What happened there?" Danielle asked casually, leaning back in the other bed against the wall. "I um, had a bit of a smoothie accident." The blonde with too much makeup laughed, then laid back against her pillow staring at the plain white ceiling. "Same old, same old," she said quietly. Delia wasn't sure what she meant, but she was happy the girl was at least somewhat friendly. Feeling suddenly exhausted from the day's strange events, Delia tossed her shirt in the hamper and began looking through her stuff for a pair of pajamas. "Going to bed already?" Danielle asked with a raised eyebrow. "I heard there was going to be a party tonight, welcoming all the freshmen." "Yeah," Delia replied, hastily changing into a pair of flannel pj bottoms. "I'm not really the party type, I guess." This was somewhat true. Though sociable as ever, Delia knew where to draw the line between partying and studying. Although, lately that line was becoming a little too dark. The blonde laughed again, picking up a hand mirror and checking herself in it. "We'll have to change that." ---

The alarm on Jac's new phone went off at seven in the morning, bringing him back to the conscious world. He moaned and lifted his face from the pillow slightly. He breathed in deep, the first breath of the day, and reached over to silence the alarm. He let his arm drop back onto the bed and he lingered for a few more minutes, letting his brain start up. He sat up and realized he was in his clothes from yesterday. "Huh..." he shrugged and rolled out of bed, going to take his shower.
Once out and refreshed, he changed into his nice, dress shirt and clean jeans and went to the door, new phone number written down on a piece of notepaper supplied by the motel. He checked his pockets. "Keys, wallet, phone... good." He opened the door and went down to his bike to start his day.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia awoke the next morning around eight o' clock. Sunlight poured into the dorm room from the window, through the shades. She blinked profusely and rubbed her eyes, allowing herself to adjust to the morning rays of sun. When her eyes were fully adjusted, she scanned the room, seeing the other bed across from her fully made with no one in it. Either her new roommate had stayed out and partied a little too long, or she had gotten up early and left everything in pristine condition (which was unlikely from Delia's point of view). She sat up and stretched her arms and back, hearing her spine crack comfortably, then swung her legs over the side of bed and started preparing for the day. After rummaging through her bags, she took out a handmade calendar, each month of the year came with a different picture of her family and friends from back home. She took out a thumb tack and pinned it to the cork board that had already been in the room, smiling in satisfaction. It seemed she was almost fully settled in, and there were still about three days before classes started. Tomorrow would be orientation... or was it today? Delia peered over at her schedule, relieved to see that orientation was in fact the day after this. She had made sure to come extra early so she could get used to the town. Delia was about to change out of her pajamas when she realized she was still wearing Jac's t-shirt. She peered at herself in the mirror, smiling at how silly she looked. Yesterday felt so distant now; she still couldn't believe that anything remotely interesting had happened. Heaving a sigh, she changed out of the shirt and pajama bottoms and into a blue sun dress that went to just above her knees. She brushed through her hair, making sure it looked somewhat tame, then grabbed her purse and stuffed Jac's t-shirt in it, and a protein bar and headed out the door. The hallways were rather deserted. Must have been some party, she thought, surprised that huge events like that were happening already, before school had even begun. She then made her way out onto the sidewalk, walking slowly and enjoying the warmth of the morning sun. ---

Jac started up his bike and pulled out of the parking lot. The sandwich shop was just down the street, but he had other places to go afterwards so he figured he would drive. It took only a quick minute to get there. He pulled into the driveway right across from the college just as another car was pulling out of a parking space. The diver neglected to look behind him and nearly backed right into Jac. "HEY!" Jac slammed on his breaks at the same time as the driver of the compact car. The jerk honked and Jac flipped him the bird before continuing past the bad driver and parking himself. He got off the bike and pocketed his keys, pulling out his phone and glancing at the time. It was about a quarter past eight. He looked in the window of Philly's Best and saw the place did not open until nine. He had forty five minutes to kill. What to do... what to do... he pondered as he ran his fingers through his wood brown hair. He pulled out a pack of cigarettes and lit one up, taking a drag to calm his already building nerves. The nicotine entered his system and he exhaled, closing his eyes. He had tried to quit a few times, but his life style was too stressful to get rid of the habit.

--Dℯℓiα S℘riηℊstℯℯη--Delia kept her eyes on the ground ahead of her as she walked, something she did when she was nervous. She wasn't sure why, but whenever she watched the ground ahead of her, and made sure where she was going, it made her feel safer. Of course, this had the opposite effects a few times back home: she'd often be so focused on the ground that she'd forget to look up at the people talking to her or the cars headed straight for her in the middle of the road. This time, however, she made sure to glance both ways before crossing the road and making her way towards the center of the town. It was around this time when she realized she had forgotten exactly where the motel was, as well as what room number Jac was in. Practically smacking herself in frustration, she huffed a sigh then took out her protein bar and nibbled furiously, probably looking rather ridiculous to a passerby. When she was finished with "breakfast", her eyes finally left the ground ahead of her to look around. There were a few people lingering near some of the shops, especially the bakery, waiting for it to open. Delia inhaled, smiling. She could smell the sweet aroma of breads and sweets; she would have to visit the place sometime today. There was something else wafting through the air as well, but a smell much more putrid. Delia's nose wrinkled in disgust at the all too familiar smell of cigarette smoke. Her eyes followed where the smoke was coming from and she raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Jac?" she said aloud, picking up the pace a little bit and walking towards the boy. "Hey, um, hi. What's up?" She mentally kicked herself for being so incoherent, then fumbled through the things in her purse, before taking out his shirt and holding it out to him with a half smile. "Here you go."---

Jac was halfway through his cigarette when he heard his name. He jumped slightly, forgetting for a moment that he had met Delia yesterday, and was afraid his past had caught up with him already. He turned and relaxed, seeing her. He looked down at the black shirt, "Oh, hey. Yeah, thanks." he took the shirt and tossed it on his handlebars, then turned back to Delia. "What brings you here so early? Psychically knew I was here and came to return the shirt or what?" He smiled lightly and braced himself on the motorcycle and putting out the cigarette with the bottom of his shoe, letting the butt fall to the asphalt. He stood up strait again and stepped away from the bike, his hazel eyes more on the green side in the bright sunlight of this clear morning.
