i hear a bad sound Acha or Kiokote?: Acha His Name: Hidden Lamb His Role: Mother Why?: Many would mistake his fearsome appearance to be an indication of a fearsome personality. In reality, he lacks the tempered hostility towards strangers and potential threats needed to be a watcher and the hunting instinct needed to be a provider. His most defining trait is that of patience, for those who find prejudice and hostility against him for his biting maw and for the children whose endless curiosity must mean long days spent opening his mouth for them so that they may better examine his teeth or swishing his tail so that they have better "prey" to practice on. His patience translates into kindness and tolerance, acceptance for others and an unending supply of love for the children that he cares for.
Other than his appearance, he has, unbeknownst to him, inherited three traits from his father. Perhaps unsettling for his mother, first, he likes to grin, playful and kind, but strange for his sharp teeth. It is likely worse for her when he is chewing up food for the children and he looks up, quick and fleeting, to smile adoringly upon her with blood adorning his maw. Second, he likes to laugh. But unlike his father, he never laughs at others, rather, he laughs at himself and with others, finding joy in the antics of children and readily submitting to the teasing of children, self-deprecating and forgiving. Third, he is persistent and sure, especially in his views. While his father was stubbornly cynical, Hidden Lamb is unerringly idealistic. He believes, without a single doubt, that by being a mother, he is helping the children that come by him, that he can make a positive difference in their lives. Kindness will not be the death of him, or his mother, or anyone. It will be the death of sadness and hatred, the feelings that can transform even the kindness lamb into a monster.
And if the last line of defense against his charges and a predator is his sharp teeth and terrifying appearance, so be it. He may be a lamb kept secret and hidden beneath a wolf's skin, but he has the strength of a mother's love.
(ilu too, ruri!)

i hear a bad sound Acha or Kiokote?: Acha His Name: Eat You Up (Nibbles) ("Well aren't you the cutest little thing? I could just Eat You Up!" -smiles-) His Role: Watcher Why?: A Watcher who would rather be watching the foals than the borders, Eat You Up was a born Mother. Gentle and loving, he positively adores children of all sorts and would love nothing more than to spend his days romping with foals in the Den or dotingly arranging sacs just so. Unfortunately, with a mouth full of razor sharp teeth and a name like his, the feeling is rarely reciprocated by expectant mothers who are often, understandably, uneasy with him near their children. So he calls himself Nibbles and keeps his distance, but patrols nearer to the Den than most other Watchers, to be both closer to the children and to serve as a last line of defense should someone get past the sentries. After all, there is good reason why those teeth look so menacing-- try to touch one of his precious children, and he'll demonstrate.

i hear a bad sound Acha or Kiokote?: Acha His Name: Stillborn, but the name is hardly one appropriate for the Den; as such, he simply goes by Still. His Role: Provider. As far as he's concerned, he's also a Watcher, though it's less an act of protection and more one of possession. Why?: He is his father's child, tempered by his mother's means of raising him. Still seems the friendly, if not somewhat mangy stray until his eyes fix upon you and he grins, having found his dinner for the night. He never did play very well with others, choosing to spend his time soaking in miserable jealousy to see the others playing or having his mother's attention. When it was his turn for her care, he was not above baring his teeth in warning and, if his brethren weren't fast enough, tasting their blood for their transgressions.
It is why, when he was of age to take place in the Den, he ultimately chose to stay but not as a seen body. He preferred to hunt, the dancer's form lithe and with composed strength to outwit and bear his prize home, even if it meant sharing. This he could share, because then he was good and looked up to. It was a falsification of belonging, but he took it, and clung to it. Unlike his father, he couldn't leave what was his, even if he was just pretending to be the generous provider with a foal-hood the other mothers could titter over. Unlike his mother, he did not have a good, generous heart, providing for his sense of self and the power of sharing the continuation of life to those in the Den's care. He gave for his own peace of mind. He gave because he was tending to what was his.
Sometimes, when the hunt was plentiful and he was feeling particularly restless or anxious, he'd patrol the Den's borders. Where the Watchers would escort those who need not be there, Still had other plans of putting his hunting skills to good use; besides, who would notice if an intruder went missing every now and again...?
((I'll include an entry for the Kio too after I've thought about him for a bit. *v*))

i hear a bad sound Acha or Kiokote?: Acha His Name: Shepherd His Role: Mother Why?: At first glance, you would never guess this razor-fanged buck to have never experienced being a father first hand. He is firm, yet the children do not rebel. He is scary to look at, and yet he knows more about the young than their own mothers. And when they do wrong, Shep does shout or yell, but is just and makes each mistake a lesson. Watching as the children play chase with him is delightful and when he smiles at those foals, you almost forget about the maw of fearsome teeth.
Shep is the very epitome of the feelings of having a father are. The one who is always there to talk, to listen, to play and to cry on. He will happily eat that mud-and-worm pie you made him, so long as you help tidy the Den with him later. Had a bad dream? Here, come sleep with daddy. Yes, of course I'll be it. He is full of life lessons and has an endless supply of hugs and cuddles. Discipline is not something mother's are comfortable doing themselves, but Shep has no qualm with it, as long as it is done with love and understanding.
[ -Smiles sadly- I couldn't help but make him exactly like my daddy. I miss him. Anyway, I'll be posting for the Kio as well, just wanted to get this one out there. ]

i hear a bad sound Acha or Kiokote?: Acha His Name: Shy Smile His Role: Mother Why?: Sly has always been one who cares for others, even if he wasn't always able to show it. When he was a foal himself, he was weak, and often had to get around on shaky legs. Those fangs, also, didn't help matters in terms of eating. He's also had digestive problems his entire life, so 'tummy aches' are serious business to him. Regardless of his hardships, he's come through it with a smile - as his name suggests. He's had a good upbringing, so he knows that having disabilities doesn't mean you can't enjoy life, and he enjoys it to the fullest - making sure that others enjoy it too.
He is caring around others, but sort of clumsy, and makes mistakes - just like everyone else. He knows he isn't perfect, and he wears that like a badge, learning from every mistake and becoming stronger for it. Taking care of foals is one of his greater joys in life, and even "sac duty" appeals to him. The way he sees it, nurturing the young helps fill some empty spot in his heart, and each and every smile he witnesses brings him closer to happiness. It may be a silly calling to others, but to him it's a cherished duty.
In caring for the pregnant females, he takes special care to make each and every one attempt to smile. Physical needs may be one thing, but the needs of the mind are also his concern, if not even more of one. He is more attuned to the mental health and well-being of those around him than he is their desire for material things. Another big part of that is that he's not the strongest buck... so he can't help with the lifting and carrying needed, nor join in and participate on hunts. Since he would be delegated to stay within the den anyway because of his frail constitution, it is his sole purpose, and pleasure to enrich the lives of those around him.

foals are like totally cute! Kin name and cert: Stood Long
![User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.](https://graphics.gaiaonline.com/images/s.gif) Proposed role: Mother, and sometimes Watcher Why?: This is how she earned her name:
Quote: The child had been born and left. She knew not who had bore it and nor did she care. All that mattered was that it was nameless, new, and weak. She disliked weak things but more than that she hated watching life go wasted. So she stood over the new-one. If a creature scurried past she would stomp on it and feed it to the child. She pulled the mountain grasses up around her to form a bed and more feed for the young one. At night, when things would think to prey on her new charge she would fight those things off without ever once stepping away from the foal beneath her. At great cost to herself she kept it safe until she deemed it ready to face it's own fates. She looked at it. It looked at her. With a nod the not-so-new child nodded and said two words- "Stood Long." Then it was gone, and she could at last sleep. She earned her name by first watching over, protecting, and (eventually) loving a child that wasn't hers. After having a clutch of her own she has taken it upon herself to nurture any lost child in the Swamp that needs that motherly attention. This tribe is perfect for her. <3 Other: Not as such just now, but you know me. xD I love them plots.
foals are like totally cute! Kin name and cert: Learns by Listening
Proposed role: Watcher or Provider. He'll go where he's told. Why?: Like his mother, he earned his name by taking care of young ones. Because of how his mother is he was raised with other foals coming and going constantly in his life. He has and will always see himself as a big brother to any foal or even adult kin in need. Other: Same as above, my dear.
