Okay, I'll do what I should have done from the start and write up a few example battles..that is by far the easiest way to explain how this stuff works. My apologies for the clumsy way I write out rules.

Mario vs Kirby
Mario's set up - 1/2/3
Kirby's set up - 1/3/2

Clash 1
Mario uses Super Jump Attack - 5 power
Kirby uses Kirby Inhale - 6 power +1 = 7 power

Kirby Inhale is a normal type which gets a +1 bonus against Mario's brawler type move.

Kirby wins the first clash.

Clash 2
Mario uses Fire Flower Frenzy - 5 power
Kirby uses Hammer Swing - 5 power

Mario's fire type move and Kirby's Weapon type move are on opposite sides of the class match up chart and so no one gets any bonuses.

The clash ends in a draw.

Clash 3
Mario uses Triple Jump - 5 power +1 = 6 power
Kirby uses Final Cutter - 4 power

Mario's Normal type move gets a +1 bonus against Kirby's Weapon type move.

Mario wins the clash.

Results
Kirby and Mario both won a single clash each so the match ends in a draw. In order to determine a winner in this situation we look at the difference between points. Kirby won the first clash with a difference of 2 points. Mario won the third clash with a difference of 2 points..so..I chose a great example here didn't I...-__-..they are still in a draw situation. In this situation we roll a dice for each player..the player with the higher score wins the battle!

Kirby vs Link
Kirby set up - 1/2/3
Link set up - 2/3/1

Clash 1
Kirby uses Kirby Inhale - 6 power +2 = 8 power
Link uses Hero's Bow - 4 power

Kirby wins the clash.

Clash 2
Kirby uses Final Cutter - 4 power
Link uses Bomb Barrage - 5 power

Link wins the clash

Clash 3
Kirby uses Hammer Swing - 5 power
Link uses Spin Attack - 6 power

Link wins the clash

Results
Link won two of the clashes and so is the overall winner!

Mario vs Link
Mario set up - 2/3/1
Link set up - 3/1/2

Clash 1
Mario uses Fire Flower Frenzy - 5 power
Link uses Bomb Barrage - 5 power

The clash ends in a draw.

Clash 2
Mario uses Triple Jump - 5 power +1 = 6 power
Link uses Spin Attack - 6 power

The clash ends in a draw.

Clash 3
Mario uses Super Jump Attack - 5 power
Link uses Hero's Bow - 4 power +1 = 5 power

The clash ends in a draw.

Results
Pretty interesting battle..but the overall result has to come down to a dice roll. All three starting characters are pretty averaged out so I was expecting a few draw situations between them..however..there are multiple set ups you can use for each character which would change everything..and also your choice of character in the first place would be a major factor in who wins so things do balance out.

Mario vs Link
Mario set up - 1/2/3
Link set up - 1/2/3

Clash 1
Mario uses Super Jump Attack - 5 power +2 = 7 power
Link uses Spin Attack - 6 power

Mario wins the clash

Clash 2
Mario uses Fire Flower Frenzy - 5 power +1 = 6 power
Link uses Hero's Bow - 4 power

Mario wins the clash

Clash 3
Mario uses Triple Jump - 5 power
Link uses Bomb Barrage - 5 power +1 = 6 power

Link wins the clash

Results
Mario wins! If Mario had used 2/1/3 instead of 1/2/3 however the results would have been rather different.

The more characters you unlock the greater variety there will be in battles and strategy. It's a bit like playing rock, paper, scissors..you need to try to figure out how your opponent will play their moves and act accordingly.

Oh, and also..Kegan there are 21 characters in Series 1..Mario, Link and Kirby are just the three starting guys..I'd post more as they get unlocked etc..

Is it called off?
PostPosted: Mon Feb 03, 2014 2:14 am
No, not exactly called off. Here's a lil announcement thing that I'll post on the front page too:

I like the concept behind this game and I think it could be plenty of fun..but it turns out it was a bit too ambitious to be hosted in the Cult. As such I've moved the game to its own forum (which anyone can now view..not just members). At the moment we're on zero players so if you would like to join please be aware that it might still fail if we don't get at least say..four players or so? I'm vaguely promoting the game to other peoples too so it's just a matter of seeing how it goes.

I don't know if I'm allowed to post links so just let me know if you're interested etc.

Thanks for your patience..told you there'd be some kinks to work out with this one!
