Lu came to the class in the hopes that hey, maybe there'd be a focus on some sort of meditation, relaxation... that happened in martial arts classes sometimes, right? ...Okay, well. That had just been a small part of Lu, the rest of him thought that was stupid to hope for. But it still might be a good class for him, and it was certainly something to take up some time and break the monotony. Lu had donned some sweat pants and a plain black t-shirt and come to the class.

When he entered the training room, he scanned it quickly for any familiar faces; he recognized quite a few. He spotted Zacharie and gave him a quick wave, but otherwise decided it was much safer to move towards the back and keep quiet. He spotted Nakura, but averted his eyes hopefully quick enough the shorter man didn't notice. Then there was Tambrey, but Lu had only talked to her once and wasn't sure if she'd even remember him. Yeah, just be quiet and go along with the class, that was the safest option. If he was completely terrible at karate, he could probably just leave the class before he embarrassed himself.

Unfortunately for Lu, Nakura noticed. That was still his favorite hobby, after all - noticing people. Observing them. Making them uncomfortable was just a bonus. A somewhat devious grin appearing on the informant's face. He cast Lu a wink as he stretched along with the other Rockets, sparing a hand to wave a few playful fingers at the brunet.

The teen wasn't sure if he should trust what the female agent said....but she did make a valid point.

Dammit, he'd been excited about the possibility of getting to skip out on the workout.

"You have a point..." He conceded, though the frown on his face showed that he still didn't like this at all. With a sigh of defeat he dug around in the pockets of his black gym shorts until he retrieved a small container of hand sanitizer, "But if I become infect by something that could have been avoided..." He muttered under his breath as he uncapped the bottle and promptly dumped a healthy amount onto the mat. Zacharie crouched, taking care not to let his skin touch the surface, to rub the solution into the area that he planned on sitting in. Once he was vaguely satisfied with his work, he poured a bit into his hand and rubbed it in. He'd just have to take a few precautions while showering afterwards to make sure he didn't contract something. With a soft huff, he sat beside Jerome on the mat and went about stretching his arms and wrists.

At the sight of Zacharie pouring the hand sanitizer out onto the mat, Nakura's snickers became uncontrollable and he laughed quietly to himself, briefly ceasing in his stretches. He couldn't very well stretch when his whole body was tense and shaking with amusement. To him, it was like watching someone try to sterilize dirt ground before gardening.

Oh, Arceus, it was a 'Mini-Frost'...
"I promise, if you die of something from here, we'll -make sure- you're still useful as a fitting tribute to your memory; labs always need new subjects." Tambrey grinned. "I don't think it's likely though- look, you've even come prepared anyway." She pointed out the sanitizer. "You'll be fine."

She cast a look about for faces she recognised, seeing Nakura, and Lu, and offering both a friendly enough wave, and smile, though it seemed like they'd tucked themselves just a little bit out of the way.
Well, if Aulus wanted them to be a little closer, she was sure he'd say something; didn't look like they would have trouble following along as far as she could tell though.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 22, 2014 9:18 am
With people filing in who Aulus did not count as friends the smile dropped from his scarred face and his red eyes hardened.

Predictably, it was only a few moments after the first one appeared that the bullshit began. Why did he do this to himself? Seriously, why? Hand sanitizer. Just- what?

"Nobody is obligated to be here," he announced, crystal clear British tones cracking out like a whip across the open space of the training room. "If you don't like it, you can free up mat space for those who do want to learn. I will point out however that the odds of you getting yourself arrested because you didn't know what the hell to do when a league official got close to you, or killed when a Galactic comes at you with a knife, are - and I will use the technical term here - a metric ******** higher than your odds of catching so much as a sniffle from these classes. That's just basic probability boys and girls, worth bearing in mind."

Oh, and there was Faleen's partner. Nakura or something? He remembered making up some kind of a mocking nickname for him before but he was trying to be professional, right? Pointing out when people were being idiots was one thing but just being purposely insulting for no good reason was another. Even if the idiot had got himself arrested. He wasn't going to pull him up on wearing uniform, partially because it was actually semi-suitable attire. Not ideal perhaps but it was what a lot of them would be wearing in reality when they had to use these skills so practising in it would do no harm he supposed. Nakura therefore got a nod of acknowledgement and recognition but no more than that.

...Well. That was a big one. A very big one, a shy looking one too. Oh well, he wasn't here to coddle anyone.

Initial thoughts delivered to those who had appeared so far Aulus moved over to Tam and stooped slightly to speak softly to her. "We've got quite a lot of new faces here tonight, I think it might not be a bad idea to start off with a demonstration," he said, being sure that only she would hear him. "I want to show them that you don't have to be big or strong to be good, and that the big strong ones shouldn't be cocky. How'd you feel about demonstrating a throw? You can either use me as a demo, or the big kid over there." He was confident in the small woman's ability to pull it off and it would illustrate his point far better to have her do something than to do it himself or ask Jerome to do it.

Lu returned Tambrey's wave with a brief one of his own, a little relieved she remembered him. That was good, maybe he could ask her for help if he needed it, instead of the rather intimidating guy next to her. While Tambrey's wave had been welcome, he cringed when Izaya waved too. That'd been exactly something he didn't want to happen, so Lu ducked his head and stared intently at the floor as he sat down as started stretching. He didn't want to pull any muscles, so stretching was an incredibly important, time consuming, distracting action that meant he didn't have to look up and make eye contact at all. Ah, good ol' stretching.

...He did glance up at Zacharie putting hand-sanitizer on the floor to clean it. He bit back a smile and hid his face again, not wanting to laugh- though it seemed some people didn't care so much. Lu gave Izaya a quick look, not long enough to be called a glare, then went back to his stretching.

In the doorway of the training room, another young rocket would appear, tall and thin, her hair in a ridiculously long braid that fell over her shoulder, its end well past her waist. Quietly, she stood and observed, smiling a little when she recognized Tambrey and the two younger boys. Her eyes stayed wide with curiosity as she observed the group.

A leafeon peered around her legs, just as curious about what was happening in the room as its trainer.

"Hey, R-"

He had been going to call the girl Rapunzel. He really shouldn't, not here, not when he was going to expect them to call him sensei very shortly.

Aulus cleared his throat.

"Rocket, come on in if you're coming. Shoes and socks off, start stretching."

---------------------

It was a useful skill, he couldn't deny that; he just wished he thought more of the teacher.

Frost padded quietly into the room and then abruptly wished had hadn't.

Like a bad penny, the wretch just kept popping back up. Hadn't even had the decent to be executed for potential treason when there was such a perfect opportunity for it.

Mmmh, well, if there was no avoiding him he supposed he shouldn't be seen to attempt it. It might give the grunt ideas about bothering him even more than he did by merely existing.

With this decided the pale man drifted quietly up behind Izaya. "Orihara."

"Sounds good." Tambrey nodded, agreeing immediately.
"Uh. Well, your class, so who ever you think is best; either of you would be good for a demonstration probably?" She would rather not scare anyone right off, of course, but perhaps it was actually a good thing to be more startling right away; it would be a very good illustration of what could be done with training.

She offered a smile to Riley as she caught sight of her in doorway when Aulus addressed her, but continued toward finishing off her stretching, getting ready.

"You make it sound an awful lot like we need to be here." Zacharie muttered under his breath as he bent forward to grab his toes. While he wasn't particularly athletic...he was decently flexible and so he always enjoyed stretching. Erector spinae muscles elongating, biceps femoris, semimembranosus and semitendinosus (also known as the hamstrings) flexing, and you can't forget your gastrocnemius (or calves). The teen mentally cataloged the muscles involved with the stretches he was preforming. Though his mind began to wander towards what the female agent had told him as some form of reassurance (He'd have to ask Jerome if she was being sarcastic.). Donate his body to science. He wondered what they would find. He paused with his chest pressed to his legs as he delved deeper into his thoughts.

He only glanced up when he heard other people entering the room. Oh, it had been some time since he'd seen Frost and...and...what was her name again? He vaguely remembered that she had stared and he and Lu while they worked on some experiments but...that was about it. Oh well, as long as he didn't have to talk to her the name wouldn't be an issue.

Jerome did not part to pay attention to who was entering to room, most everyone he recognized at least in passing, but did little else to greet then then a slight nod if they caught his eye.
He grinned a little at Zacharie's ongoing worry about the mats, watching with a note of amusement as the kid expressed his concern and go replied from the other Agents back,

"The ********, Zach?" Jerome muttered with amusement as he watched Zacharie rubbing down a part of the map with sanitizer next to where Jerome was sitting though he did nothing to stop the Grunt.

"Damn ya ********' right ya need to be here." Jerome said to Zacharie, the gangster lifting to his feet with fluid ease as it seemed like they were getting started.
Jerome gesturing for everyone to pick a spot on the mat as Aulus started speaking.
Hopping in place a few times to limber up and shake himself out, inked eyes glancing the crowd again as he noticed that Kyle had not joined them yet.
He was late, well they had to get started anyway.

Looks like Tambrey was up,
"Might wanna check F'the big guy knows how t'fall right." Jerome added with a mutter to them.

Reaching a hand back to grab the back of his shirt, the gangster pulled it off of his torso quickly and smoothly before turning back to the gathering Rockets.
"No standin' round." Jerome made a wide gesture to the Rockets standing in the background, namely to the girl in the door way "Ya don't stand round on missions, ya don't stand round in trainin' Ya get SHOT that way." He barked followed with a laugh, tossing his balled up shirt off to the side

There was a shifting of movement from right behind Riley.
Bright yellow eyes peered down at the back of her head before a disgruntled voice spoke
"Hey, Move."

Kyle really had no intention of being there, and all of it had to do with the man who was running the class. But Kyle, despite what one might think, was not actually stupid. and winning some favor from the kind of Agent that Aulus, and Jerome and even that Tambrey agent were, was not a bad idea.
Besides, learning new ways to hit someone? that can't be so bad.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 22, 2014 4:15 pm
"Hu, good point," Aulus replied softly to his pair of friends, "maybe better go with me...." Oh great, and now it was the little mechanic, or engineer or whatever he was. The one with eyes like a dead fish and a rod so far up his arse it was probably poking his creepy clockwork brain. Well at least he'd come in sensible clothes not a suit.

When Jerome made his point Aulus nodded. "And when you get shot, your friends have to try to rescue you and might well get shot too. Don't let your last thoughts be that you caused the death of your friends by dithering. Oh, and put that Leafeon in a pokeball; we don't want any distractions." This last was said with a wave of his hand at Riley; he had no idea what her name was and given he had resolved not to call her Rapunzel he had to identify her somehow.

Ah and here was Carmen, who he was definitely going to call Kyle. Professional! Instead of snarkily calling him over as he might have liked to he said nothing, leaving the pair of low ranking rockets to figure out their doorway dilemma for themselves.

"Anyone with loose jewellery should take that off too, and hair past your chin should be tied back," Aulus added. He might have to repeat that just before they actually got started properly but doing so now would mean that anyone already here would take care of the issue now leaving to less fannying around when he wanted to get under way.

Jerome pointed over to Aulus as he made his point, bobbing his head deeply once "Word ta that, speakin' from experience yo, man."

To what end Jerome was talking about he didn't make very clear, but by now it wouldn't be hard to notice the several scars Jerome had on his torso and arms from bullet wounds.
