With a lack of further questions, the elite nodded her head once. "All right, let's proceed. If anyone has anymore questions, you can ask while we're walking," she said, then turned on her heel to lead them through a portion of the garage. Their path led them (safely, of course) past other incoming vehicles similarly packed full of arriving Rockets, and over to a normal-sized door sitting just a little ways away from another tunnel door. Once opened, it revealed a stairwell leading down - and only down, despite there being a floor directly above them - to a normal-looking hallway. "Most of you," the elite announced to the group as they walked past a door labeled 'security', "will only be on this floor if you need to go to the main office, or if you need to access to storage."

Somehow Frost insinuated his way to near the front of the pack. He didn't appear to shove anyone, or rush, he simply moved with intent and took advantage of the fact that a lot of people were chattering. Now, he didn't know if there was any advantage to being at the front but if there was he would take it.

-----------------------------

Aulus hung back with his friends, not especially bothered by the ebb and flow or by getting anywhere fast. If he ended up sharing a bathroom with a twit, he would swap. Somehow. Scare them off? Beg Claire to pull some strings? Yeah, yeah, he would compromise his dignity to get somebody he could stand. Hopefully he would get a say though, and could live across from one of his friends.

Mainly KO tried to avoid getting his shiny boots trodden on. "Hey, watch where you're walking!"

The long counter near the front of the main office had been set up with a series of partitions to create four individual stations, each labeled with a rank from trainee up to elite and fitted with a device reminiscent of a barcode scanner. A woman in a crisp white outfit, a clipboard carried in one arm, stepped up to speak with the elite leading the group just long enough to confirm the arriving Rockets were the ones that had been expected.

"Attention," the executive said, the presence of her voice easily filling the space. "I will now explain how rooms will be assigned - and I'll only say it once, so be sure to listen." She reached to her clipboard and presented the black pokedex she had been holding with it. "At the desert headquarters building," she explained, "rooms were accessed by sliding a keycard at the door. Here at the lake headquarters, access permissions will be stored entirely on your pokedexes. Doors are fitted with an infrared sensor; they will unlock for any pokedex that has the appropriate permissions."

She moved to approach one of the scanning devices, gesturing to it, "Have your pokedexes in hand and line up according to your ranks. When it's your turn, hold your pokedex under the scanner like so," she demonstrated, "until the light turns green. This will also transfer an electronic map onto your pokedex. If you open the map and view the dormitory floors, your room will be marked with a star." She stepped away from the counter, returning her pokedex to rest on the clipboard positioned against her hip. "Once you've received your assignment, you're free to explore the base to your liking. Normal duties will resume in 48 hours; until then, you'll all be on standby, so be prepared to deal with odd jobs at any time - that means remaining on the premises. If there are no questions, you may begin lining up."

Behind the counter, a scruffy-looking, bespectacled elite leaned on a desk near the computer at which another Rocket worked, both watching the screen with unhappy expressions. After a moment of murmuring between themselves, the man pushed back from the desk with an exasperated sigh, frowning at the group of Rockets. By the time the executive finished addressing them, he had made his way to her side, indicating the assembly with a tilt of his head, "Excuse me, Executive, it's about the thing from before..."

The sharp woman nodded her approval, and the elite that many would recognize as Lucas clapped his hands twice to get summon attention. "Hey, sorry to interrupt, but did anyone bring in a Joltik?"

Kyle hung back for a couple of seconds to take a better look at the garage, it wasn't until a nudge as his side and a nod of Ryan's head did they move off with the last of the group.

He wondered for a couple of seconds before considering a question that he might like to ask a higher rank, though as they moved down the steps and into the main office, given instructions about the maps and their new rooms as well as how the dexes would work for the base.
And lastly asked about a Joltic?
Kyle frowned lightly, glancing around the others in the group to see if anyone would answer.

Okay... So not -too- much of interest on this floor, then, but important none-the-less... Tambrey made a note of it, though was grateful for the thought that they'd soon have maps of the place anyway.

She considered whether she had any more questions, once more, and, again, found herself deciding that the ones she might have would be answered by the map, and by the process itself.
Part of this proved true when they were told that they... kind of had a some 'time off', or at least, on standby, before regular duties commenced.
She found herself surprised, but grateful for such.

"Rooms." She grinned, muttering to Riley, before moving off slightly, ready to get into line according to agent rank; she knew that when she'd recruited the girl, there really hadn't been -too- much to impress, especially given quarters, but even with grunt arrangements, she suspected that Riley might appreciate the improvement.

And then they were asked about a Joltik.
Tambrey shook her head slightly- no Joltik from her... and it had better not be -on- her... The Agent shuddered slightly; despite her getting used to various electric types, and less reluctant around them, the size of the electric bug kept it as a rather unwelcome pokémon to come across for her; tiny enough to hide -and- electrically charged... Ick.
She glanced around a little, to see if she could spot any such thing... and preferably move away from it.

Frost raised his eyebrows but as he hadn't he didn't say anything; was there one running around loose? A hazard, but then any loose pokemon was a potential hazard and anyone who did not carefully control their pokemon was a fool. Perhaps he was about to see a fool get their comeuppance?

Joltik? Aulus frowned and shook his head; they were cute little buggers and he wouldn't mind having one, but then that went for pretty much all pokemon so it wasn't saying a whole lot. Anyway, hopefully the mystery of the Joltik would be cleared up quickly so that he could get his room assignment, he didn't enjoy waiting around like this.

KO had not brought a Joltik, was not fond of things liable to cause static; Duke's pichu stage had been a real trial! Rather small as he was, and stuck near the back, the red-eyed man rose up on tip toes trying to see what was going on up at the front. Hopefully this wouldn't cause much of a delay, he wanted to find out where his room was and try to get there before his roomate did so that he could have pick of the beds and start setting his things out.

Lucas took the silence as a negative and responded with a frown, raising a finger in warning, "Okay, but it better not come out that one of you's lying." With a nod to the executive to show that he had finished, he turned to head back towards the grunt at the computer, his words trailing after him, "Didn't come in on this group, if that's really the problem." He returned to the posture he had had before approaching the arriving Rockets, copying details from the monitor onto a sheet of paper.

Frost glanced around, shrugged, and moved up to the counter. Once there he took his dex from its pouch on his belt and held it under the scanner as the executive had demonstrated, giving a little nod to himself once the light turned green. With this done he drifted over towards Lucas. "A technical hitch?" he quizzed with a quizzical tilt of his head. "The original 'bug in the system' really was a bug you know." Did they have the same situation here? If so he hoped the pokemon could be driven out without any damage to the nice new equipment.

-----------------------

"Well, here goes then," Aulus muttered to his friends; his patience for waiting was fading rapidly and so he elbowed a few people out of the way to get to the front and then presented his dex to the machine. He really, really hoped he didn't get stuck with an idiot.

Lucas looked to Frost as he approached, humming a vague affirmative. "Sounds about accurate. Our power output is fluctuating weirdly from place to place and time to time - lights randomly dimming or flickering, computers suddenly going into power-saving mode, so on and so forth. Maintenance says there are no physical problems, so we're guessing a Joltik got in somehow. The system we have up keeps pokemon from just waltzing in... unless they're accompanied by a Rocket. So, our best guess is that one hitched a ride in on someone's back and is now stuffing its face on the base's electricity."

(Surprise! This ORP is an RP contest. Players are still welcome to join at any time. Feel free to play in the base however desired, be it exploring the new layout, interacting with others, or whatever else you want to do. At the end of the month of May, staff will evaluate players based on quality and content of their posts as well as overall activity in the ORP. Posts made up to this point will also count.

The prize at stake is the shiny Joltik that's sneaked in. Good luck, and enjoy the new base!)

The Joltik had hitched a ride?
Tambrey frowned while she eavesdropped, queueing up, a little back from the impatient Aulus.
"Good luck?" She offered, a little too preoccupied by the idea that a tiny electric type could 'sneak in' on someone.

"Well, at least this is good 'debugging' of new systems..." She muttered, half to herself before she was finally able to place her pokédex under the system and receive her map and room assignment.

"Humm," one of Frost's eyebrows lifted, "well I suppose they are easy to overlook, as pokemon go.... I wonder where between here and Ambergris somebody could have picked it up?" The thought of an uninvited guest hanging onto his back made the blond agent shiver a bit, but he reassured himself with the thought that at least a Joltik's food source was hygienic. "I will 'keep my eyes peeled'," he informed Lucas, complete with air quotes. "I am sure it will be isolated eventually....

"Ah, and on that research project I was undertaking?" he dropped his voice to a murmur and nodded slightly, was this a time to nod? Maybe. Mmmh. "Mmh. Well so far I haven't discovered anything that we didn't already have on file. I have however summarised the information we possess for perusal by appropriate parties. My inbox is always open, as I believe they say... which is to say let me know when the information is required and I will pass it on." If it was required that was, for all he knew all those who needed to be in the know had already read all there was to read.

Once the location of his room flashed up Aulus drifted out of the way but as Tam was nearby he hung back to see what she would get. When he did see he closed the distance between them in a quick couple of steps. "Hey, hey, let's see yours?" As he spoke he held out his own, complete with little star. Was it him, or was Tam's showing one right next to his?
PostPosted: Sat May 10, 2014 10:44 pm
Nope. Don't think about it any more... Tambrey told herself, mentally, as she checked her room assignment.
Tiny electric bug would be caught by someone ('isolated', as Frost said; what a good word) and that would be that.

Besides, getting a room was far more important and, apparently, she wasn't the only one excited...
The scientist blinked, resisting the natural inclination to step back from such enthusiasm, before smiling and offering out her own 'dex for Aulus to see.
She peered at his for a moment and then raised her eyebrows.
"Aah! I see!" Well, that was a huge improvement on, not only Ambergris, but the old HQ, and she grinned to the other agent.
"Well, you're quite a change from my last neighbour."

Hot on Aulus' tail, Zacharie fumbled with his Rocketdex as he approached the desk. He was (as he had been since he'd received news of moving) more than excited to start exploring and finding all of the nooks and crannies of his new home. "Where do you think we should look first?" He asked the pokemon awkwardly held in his arms. "And stop wiggling around!" He grumbled as he adjusted his grip for what felt like the hundredth time since he'd picked him up. Chiro made a few muttered complaints but went still once again. "I think starting with the fundamental locations would be best, a bit dull, but wise since they will be locations that I frequent out of necessity." He shuddered to think of not being able to find a restroom or a room with a sink if he needed to clean up...or even not knowing where a room best suited to hiding his experiments in was.

Though he supposed he could set a few of them up in his room...

Speaking of which, he wondered who he would get stuck rooming with. He didn't want to room with anyone. Well except maybe Jerome but rooming with Jerome also meant rooming with Bro and rooming with Bro meant that a lot of his things would end up missing. He was pretty sure that things Bro took ended up in his stomach which was worse then them simply disappearing.

...No, he definitely just needed a room to himself.
