Happy is an odd term to use when describing a vampire. I'm not happy catering to your children.

You'd protect them...if you had to...you would...I feel like I know it...You aren't as bad as you paint yourself Dmitri...what you are doesn't make you an enemy...If you were bad...you wouldn't use this as a cover...you'd find something else...

She crossed her arms and nodded...

If you are bad because you are a vampire...that's not fair...You need things to live and you need to accept that...I don't judge you...and most of these kids don't know that...so you know they don't see you that way either...

she looked at the kids...

And that is why you love it here...

she smiled brightly at him...Madeline didn't like many men but she enjoyed his company like an older brother or something...teasing him was part of the fun...

Well miss divine condescending light,

He couldn't remember her name so luckily she had started by taunting him

If I were to harm these children you would kick me out of this place...and I need to be here. Time goes by so fast they will all be dead before I know it. Unlike you whom I can't even recall how long you've been in my life. The fact I'm a vampire has a little to do with me beong bad id say. I enjoy killing people, taking that from them feels good, and I do it every night so id say that constitutes bad.

He sighed and tossed her an apple

Not everything is as bright as your smile and I can't say I love it here, I am more impartial.

He teased her a bit, she seemed to be loosening him up which was good and bad.

Eternal life is a bit of a bore, but my old man mind simply can't remember, I don't know if I had a wife, a kid, I can't recall anything from when I was human. I only remember a little bit here and there about my vampiric life as an old bat.

He twitched his long ears playfully

Fair enough...

she was trying to get him to smile for a while now and when she saw it creeped her out a bit but she would never do anything to tip off she was not fond of it...she wanted to ask more questions but enough was enough for one day...

It's almost dark...shouldn't you be getting ready to go to town?

She looked at the kids....

I guess it's their bed time...OH and here...

she took a piece of paper and the writing utensil he was using to make a list and wrote down a few things too...

1. A new children's book
2. 3 scarfs (old and tattered are fine)
3. glue

Dimitri entered the orphanage, hungry but with a bunch of groceries. He began to put them away but poured himself a strong drink. The drink would not affect him but would instead distract him from his thirst.
