I believe they pierce you with a needle first, then follow through with the hooks like you would jewelry.

I was watching Criss Angel last night (Yes, I am THAT lame). And they suspended him by four hooks from the bottom of a helicopter and flew him around for a bit. xd

And wow, I never saw this topic... whee! I would LOVE to do a suspension some day... whenever I see suspension pics, or even worse, videos, I get this awed silent reverence thing going on. Whenever I'm confronted with it, I just get this unspeakable sense of "This is what I need. This is a spiritual step forward I need to take. I need to do this."

And blah blah blah, something about letting go past troubles and trusting in myself. Summary: I want. :3

I'm going to a suspension meet up this Sunday. I plan to do one myself, so I hope I don't wuss out or something. Or even worse, get sick with a cold before then! gonk
I want to start with a 4pt. suicide, and if I'm feeling okay a little after that, I'd like to try a knee one.
And if I videotape it all well, I can hand it in as an assignment for school. So double score there. =D

It can be done both ways. I think it just depends on the group doing it.

Well, I did it today and he used piercing needles by shoving them onto the hooks so it followed through nicely.
I'll post up pics of everything soon. It was swank.
