That face didn't look too good. She knew her party was not the best and was mostly grass and bug types, but she did have a rock/water type. However, was it a good one? ", I do have a Omanyte that I got recently. However, I got it really recently, so I am still needing to work with them a bit."

"Ah, that's good," Aulus' frown lifted and he gave a small nod of approval. "I've got one in the works too, did you go on that fossil hunt? Anyway, Omastar is a pretty tough pokemon and it has a good special attack, so when you're looking for an offensive rock move for it once you're trained it some you're going to want Ancient Power over for say Rock Slide, and the same goes for a water move. It's not a problem that they're still too inexperienced for the field right now, you're prepared for the future and that's good." Hey, was he being rational and helpful and stuff? And he wasn't feeling pissed off? In fact he was kind of enjoying this?... Yeah, he was. Wow. Maybe he was just getting better at not being an idiot, maybe he was feeling more secure in himself now he knew he'd had his new arm soon, maybe it was something else, but whatever it was it was good.

"Oh, Water Pulse is a good move to get a tutor to teach to your Omanyte if you like confusion but if you prefer burn then you might want to shell out of your wages - once you get them - for a use of the Scald tm," Aulus added as the thoughts drifted to mind. "Either of those water moves and Ancient Power would be good bets for," the deep frown came back as Aulus looked for the right word, "for your basic every day attacking. Surf would work well too, but again with that you could end up with friendly fire. Along with those you might want, later in training, to go in for one powerful move based on special attack and one support or status move. Shell Smash is interesting, it'll make you more vulnerable but if you use that and then your powerful move it'll make your enemy really wish they screwed with somebody other than you and your death-fossil."

Does this make any sense by the way?

"Yes I did go on that fossil hunt," she replied, listening to all he had to say still ", Ancient Power and work on getting tutored moves and TMs? Seems like a lot of work, but I am willing to anything to make my team better," She wouldn't admit it, but she had a deep connection to her team. In a way she wanted to help them to have the chance to be the best they could be, what she had been given by Team Rocket basically. Being an orphan, she had never gotten that chance until now, and now she wanted to return the favor to Team Rocket, and also to her party of pokemon.

Delta getting really anxious just being outside without doing much of anything but standing there. Getting sick of just listening to the two talking, he made his way over to the family <<, So you are Zigi's family? Sorry for intruding, but would you be fine with introducing yourselves? I am Delta, Zigi's battling partner as one may call us. She is one of the best on our team.>>

Sounds fine to me!

"It is a lot of work," Aulus replied with a shrug, "and it will continue to be a lot of work, there doesn't come a point where you can just say 'well, I fully trained my team now, time to sit back'. You're always going to be finding you want to tweak somebody's moves because of what happened on a mission, finding new tactics, improving your pokemon's teamwork, not to mention just plain making them tougher.... What're you thinking of going into by the way? What department I mean." Not a huge number of people seemed to want to be field agents, in fact there was often an unspoken 'just' as a prefix to field agent or so it seemed to him.

<> Artemis chirped. <on the team just yet but I'm working on it!>>

<> Killer replied, cocking his head and grinning as he looked up at Delta. <> Killer gestured with a feeler to the Absol and the Charizard who had been silent observers until now.

<> the fire type introduced himself gravely with a small bow of his head. <>

<> said the dark type, but her tones were rather dismissive and she barely bothered to look at Delta or Zigi.

"No one has actually asked me that question before," she admitted, kind of shocked by it. She wanted to make her team the best she could possibly do, but no one had told her about different fields she could do, but she would love to learn about them ", Or told me about them for that matter. Could you perhaps tell me more? I would like very much to be more than a Trainee, Grunt, or a Field Agent, but I can't do that unless I know what is possible."

'We're doomed,' Thought Delta and L'électrique as they looked at the Fire and Dark Type Pokemon that had just talked to them. Not only were they much stronger, but Delta was a grass type. She wouldn't last long against Char. Not only that, but most of their team was also Grass Types. Their only possible hope they had was in L'électrique and their new team member Shellmor Bleu, their Omanyte. However, it was not much since Char and Tortie were obviously very strong.

<> L'électrique replied, not showing her fear as did Delta <<, It is nice to meet you both.>>

...Yep.

And there it was.

Aulus' expression soured but he kept hold of his temper. "Just so you know, I'm 'just' a Field Agent myself," he said in tightly controlled tones, only narrowly resisting the urge to clench his single hand into a fist. "We're not a department where no-hopers crash out, you don't get to be an Agent at all if you're not good at what you do; Field Agents specialise in, as you might imagine, field work. As we don't have other areas to focus on a good Field Agent will have a powerful diverse team that works seamlessly together, plenty of experience in dealing with hostiles and hostile terrain, and other practical skills that will help see a mission completed successfully."

Be calm! She didn't know any better and she was making an effort; she wanted to know her options and that was good, he could lay them out for her - along with the fact that there was no just no matter what some people thought - and she'd decide what she was interested in.

Aulus exhaled and some of his tension went out of his body along with the breath.

"But it's not for everyone," he continued in more normal tones. "If you're not a fan or risking life and limb on too regular a basis," he jerked his head at his lack of a right arm, "or if you just have interest in another field, there are lots of options. If you're into explosions there's demolition, we have an intelligence department that deals with espionage and infiltration, and security keeps the base safe. As for keeping the place running we've got a clerical team - not my idea of fun but I suppose crime takes all sorts - maintenance which is what it sounds like, medics for when we get blown up, legal to cover our operations should the need arise, and transportation who make sure we have what we need when and where we need it. Then there's the science and tech departments, which both have a lot of sub-fields within them. I don't think you have to have any prior training to join them but if you've no experience in for say genetics don't expect to be cloning your own pokemon next week, and if you've never taken an engineering course you won't be building an attack robot after a month long training montage or something. It takes a lot of knowledge to advance in those departments, but if you're passionate and bright there's no reason you shouldn't do it with enough hard work." He had just talked quite a lot and part of Aulus was slightly worried that he'd managed to forget one of the departments or something. Oh well, if he had then he'd tell her when it came back to mind.

<> Char asked of the unfamiliar pokemon, half listening to the human conversation.

Tortie merely snorted disdainfully.

Despite his attempts to control his anger, she could see it building up. She too continued to control any action that could make him get worse. She was here for training, not a full blown out fight ", Those all sound interesting, but none of them sound like something I could do without training in them to see if it is for me. I do rather like normal field work to be honest, but I haven't gotten to experience it much. I don't know what it is all about yet. That is what I get for being such a low rank I guess."

She let out a sigh as she thought back to how much she really wanted to help Team Rocket, but to be honest she felt kind of useless. There wasn't much she could do besides read really. She wasn't even that great at battling ", I want to be great at whatever I do for Team Rocket. It has given me something I never had before joining. A chance to actually do something with my life besides sit behind a window and looking at the world."

After admitting this though, she realized what she had come here to do in the first place ", Oh! I'm sorry! Didn't mean to start talking about my personal matters or get you upset. I came here to better my team, not talk about my past issues."

<> Delta replied, looking over at the quiet Tortie <<, Our Trainer was talking to us yesterday about training against a stronger trainer and pokemon. From the looks of it, you two and your trainer are definitely stronger."

Aulus was slightly mollified by the trainee's turn around, as he'd reminded himself she just hadn't really been told about what the departments were. Flying off the handle at her would have been stupid, made him look stupid, and generally been a bad idea. He also felt as though he might just have dodged a bullet on hearing about her past, she caught herself before she went on about it just like he'd managed to hold his temper. Well done them, he supposed?

"Mmh, don't worry about it," Aulus replied with a shrug, "we've all got our reasons for being here. Anyway, field work; there are training missions for trainees and grunts sometimes so you should keep an eye out for them, and mention to whoever's your main training officer that you're keen for more field experience. Being keen always looks good, higher ups like to know who recognises they need to development and wants to do something about it rather than just hoping to coast through. Once you're a grunt of course you can apply to go on proper missions and if you want to go into field work then the more of those you sign up for the better both for your own development and for your promotion prospects from grunt to agent." Ugh, he remembered being a trainee stuck in that big dorm with a crowd of idiots who he'd hated and had hated him. Being a grunt had been a bit better but not a lot, his roommate had been pathetic and had snored like sawing logs.

"Right though, have you got any more questions for now or shall we get down to something practical?" What should he actually do with her? She wanted to learn to deal with a more powerful opponent.... Maybe some kind of 'tag' game? That could work.

"I feel it is time for practical. If I have any questions I will just ask right?" She gave a small grin, turning to face where Delta and L'électrique were. It seemed the two were getting along with the other pokemon ", Delta, L'électrique, come here."

Hearing Keita call for them, both Delta and L'électrique thanked Killer, Artemis, Char, and Tortie for their talk and went over to their trainer. What was it she wanted? Where they finally going to start training.

"Right then!" Aulus felt the urge to clap his hands and rub them together, but as that obviously wasn't possible he settled for looping his thumb into his belt and nodding. "What we're going to do to start with is a game of tag. Tortie is going to try to catch you, Santela, and you have to avoid her with your pokemon's help."

This would work a lot better and be a lot more fun outside.... If they were outside and there were a bunch more trainees and grunts they could have some kind of a team game, a competition. Well, that was an idea for the future.

"We're kind of limited in here I suppose but it's a good place to start trying out a few moves and its secure. You can use whatever tricks and moves you want, she can take it so don't hold back. For this first time if you can keep her off you for... Let's say a minute then you win. Alright?" Maybe after a couple of goes like this he'd suggest they head up out of the base to try it outdoors, it would feel less awkward and Santela would be both challenged by and able to take advantage of natural surroundings rather than running around in a white box. Still, it was a place to start he guessed. Hopefully it didn't seem too lame.

"Tag?" Huh... that sounded interesting. Keep Tortie away from her by using her pokemon to her advantage. Seemed like something she could use for sure! ", Hmm... am I only allowed to use Delta and L'électrique?"
PostPosted: Thu Jul 16, 2015 12:54 pm
VerityHattress

"Tag," Aulus confirmed, "this is an exercise in dealing with your more powerful opponent. Your team keeps them off you - because you're a lot more fragile than your pokemon - and this buys you time to retreat, call for backup, or think of another way to deal with the situation. You can use as many of your pokemon as you want to, just as you would on a mission."

Tortie gave Aulus a somewhat unimpressed look but took a few paces forward to be ready on his cue.

"Once we've done a few rounds in here we can head outside to try it in the fresh air if we still have time," Aulus added, signalling Char to move back against the wall out of the way. "Failing that though we can book another session if you're interested, maybe bring a friend or two to make it more interesting."
