Mirror glanced from mirror to mirror as he stood in the center of the Mirror Realm, his own personal cage. Sure he could leave every so often, but as soon as someone summoned him, he had to return. Looking into one of the mirrors, Mirror let out a small sigh before throwing on a black cloak and walking over to it. Without hesitation, Mirror stepped into it, the surface seeming to ripple as he passed through.
Appearing from a old mirror in an alleyway, Mirror adjusted his hood, covering most of his face. Quiet a few people knew what he looked like from summoning him, though they tend to deny it when asked. People were scared of him, shunned him from their society, only willing to talk to him in order to gather information, after that they leave. That was his life... be summoned, be used, watch the world, repeat. The humans were odd creatures, beings of sorrow, joy, guilt, anger, greed. Mirror had seen all of these finding the latter two more often than the others.
Walking out of the alleyway, Mirror stepped quickly into the streets, sticking to the edges of the sidewalk. He never really knew why he left the Realm every so often. Maybe he just wanted to travel, to see the places he watched over, or maybe he just wanted to leave his confine.

As Mirror walked the streets, someone ran into him and gripped his arm making Mirror think that the person had recognized him. A moment later the man apologized before setting off again. Mirror adjusted his hood making sure it remained over his face as he glared at the man who had gone off. He hated people touching him, it never led to anything good, he had restrained himself not to kill the man out of instinct.
Letting out a small frustrated sigh, Mirror continued walking. Humans were odd beings, they never seemed to realize the big picture, they didn't even seem to understand one another. They always seemed to act based on their own intentions, their own greed. Thoughts slowly cleared from his head as he walked half in thought. He was hardly interested in the places that he had seen a million times through the mirrors and even less interested in the people roaming the lands.

Ari dusted off the flour that was caked onto her hands from the loaves of bread she had just placed in the large, wood fired kitchen oven. She admired the dough as it sat on the hot stone before grabbing a towel and swinging the heavy metal grating closed to let the bread cook. When everything was secure, Ari pulled out a pocket watch to check the time, so she knew when to take the bread back out. She had baked lots of it today. There was a Prince arriving, and the new Queen was returning. A feast would likely be in order.
Sighing, she hurried into the washroom for the kitchen staff, shutting the wooden door as a small coughing fit erupted from her lungs. She frowned into the mirror hanging above the bowl of water, looking at her slim face. She thought she looked like a corpse, but she knew it was just her imagination. The castle never would have allowed her to work if she had looked as sickly as she felt.
Ari reached into her apron pocket and pulled out a slip of paper. Instructions had been scrawled in a nice, neat cursive. She clenched the paper tight in her hands, and a tear fell, smearing one of the letters. She quickly read off the paper before she could ruin it. Please, let this work... She thought. "Mirror, Mirror.... on the wall..." She muttered, thinking she would sound insane if any of the other staff members heard her talking to herself in the washroom.
She had no idea where the slip of paper had come from, but Ari was desperate. She was willing to try anything at this point... If there was even the slightest chance something would help her... She would try it. ❝Some days, you'll feel really sad without knowing why. Like you lost something very precious but you forgot what it was, Or you miss someone you never met...❞

Feeling a sharp pain on his left hand, Mirror looked at it seeing the black rune like mark forming on the skin. Pulling his hand back underneath the cloak, Mirror quickly headed off to an isolated mirror and stepped into it, the glass seeming to waver as it welcomed it's master back.
Back in the Mirror realm now, Mirror glanced at his hand the mark now fading and the pain gone. Looking at the mirror's surrounding him, it didn't take long for Mirror to find the one with it's edges radiating a light golden glow around it's edges. Taking off his cloak and tossing it over to the side as he walked over to it, Mirror stopped in front of the mirror a girl coming into view as he triggered the magic of the summon. The girl had long black hair and blue-grey eyes which looked into the mirror a desperate look showing slightly on her face. From the other side of the mirror, the girl should see his figure coming into form and after a few seconds the form would be completed.
"You have summoned me, what is it that you would like to request?" Mirror asked just like he does every time he is summoned by someone. Then once their request was finished they would ditch him never to speak his name until they needed more from him.

For a moment, nothing happened. The tears picked up their pace as Aria stood there, staring. It hadn't worked. What had she been expecting, anyways? What was supposed to happen? She coughed into her arm, feeling the heaviness in her chest -- a mix of the illness and hopelessness. While she stood there, the mirror in front of her began to distort. She thought it was her tears causing the disruption in the glass, but after wiping them away she realized it was a figure. Ari stumbled backwards a bit, until she had backed up against the wooden door of the small space. The face of a boy had replaced her own reflection, crystal clear in the mirror.
It took her a moment to collect herself and realize that he was speaking to her. What should she say? How was she supposed to start? Anxiety filled her, worrying that if she waited too long to say something, he might disappear. Could he really help her? The paper that was now crumpled in her small hand had said that he could. The tears started to drip down her cheeks again as she searched her brain for words. She had never explained her situation to anyone but the doctors and shamans and potion sellers she had tried to see before. "I-I'm sick...." She said quietly, as she pressed close to the door for support. "I-I've tried... everything.. I.. don't know what to do... the doctors-" She broke off, her voice catching as she spoke through the tears. "The doctors don't know what's wrong with me... And.. it's getting worse and worse...."
Aria tried to wipe away the tears again with her palms, not wanting to look foolish. She held up the hand with the crumpled and wet slip of paper. "S-someone gave me this.... They said you might be able to help me... Can you..?" Ari finally finished, looking up at him with blurry, reddened eyes, and tucking her long, dark hair behind her ears. ❝Some days, you'll feel really sad without knowing why. Looking at the girl who stepped back in shock, it was obvious to Mirror that she hadn't expected the summon to work. As the girl explained her predicament about how she was sick and the doctors didn't know what was wrong. That was her request, to remove her illness. Small pieces of glass formed around Mirror, though none formed in the way of the summoning mirror. These pieces wouldn't be visible from the other side, why, Mirror had never really found an answer and didn't bother trying to find one. Reflected in the pieces of glass were parts of the answer to the girl's request. Some showing him what her illness causes, others showing him the attempts to try and heal herself. The illness was serious and didn't show any signs of letting up any time soon, even with his strong control of magic, his powers to heal were limited.
The girl held up a piece of paper, written on it was the instructions to summon him and a comment about how he might be able to help. It seemed like he was this girl's last hope. Mirror's emotionless face looked at the girl as he spoke "I can only do so much for it at a time, for now I can ease the pain. However, even that will only be temporary. There is hope for a full recovery but magic limits how much I alone can do at this time." Mirror said calmly. He wasn't all that sure how the girl would react to this, but from what he knows it was still more than what most other 'solutions' had done for her.

Aria watched the boy in the mirror from the doorway as he seemed to consider what she had told him. She realized that she had been holding her breath and released it, trying to calm herself down. Finally the boy spoke. She felt herself slide to the floor of the washroom, a roller coaster of emotion swept over her as he explained that what he could do was limited. First dread, that it would only be temporary, then she dared to let herself feel relieved when he said that there was still hope for her, and then confusion at the limitations of the magic that he was suggesting.
Anything was better than nothing at all, though, right? It was still far more than anyone else had been able to do for her. Now seated on the floor, Ari dropped her head into her lap and began to cry again, as she let herself relax just a little bit. The exhaustion from being so constantly in pain and discomfort was replaced by a sense of relief, now that there was some small light to focus on. There was still hope, he had said.
"Thank you... Thank you so much... You don't know how long I've waited for any kind of hope at all..." She said, finally, lifting her head and wiping away the tears once more. Ari was sure the boy thought she was ridiculous by now, with all of her crying and desperation, but she couldn't help it. She had gone through so much just to hear someone say that there was still hope, even if he couldn't make the illness magically disappear completely. Looking up at him, suddenly curious now that the hard part was done with, she asked, "Do you have a name?" ❝Some days, you'll feel really sad without knowing why.
