When the after lunch class started actually outside of the classroom, Selina knew they were in for something unusual, but then her Ghost and Ghoul Studies class was rather unusual to begin with. The idea of undertaking a 'ghoul hunt' in the classroom was rather intriguing to her, but then if anyone in the class was interested in working for the Ministry someday, it wasn't a bad way to get one's feet wet.
Listening carefully to the professor's instructions, she got ready for the hunt to begin, though she was a bit shocked to hear him ask students not to use fire spells. Ghouls were relatively harmless to begin with, and why would anyone want to risk setting fire to the classroom and all the precious books contained therein? Nevertheless, Selina rehearsed the spell and the attendant somatic component a few times before she felt ready to go in. Setting her bag down by Professor Eckstein, Selina had her hand poised to draw her wand from its sheath as she ventured into the classroom.
The room was darkened and still, though not so dark that Selina couldn't see to navigate. She moved carefully and quietly, her eyes sweeping the room around her as she sought out likely hiding places, as though she were expecting to be attacked at any second. Drawing her wand from its hiding place, Selina intoned, "Deprendus Lamia!" and a yellow glow formed around the tip of her wand. The colour went from yellow to orange, and then to red as she wandered toward a particular corner.
"Deprehensio!" she intoned, waving her wand over a suspicious looking desk, and Selina was rewarded with a pulsing azure radiance which exposed the spell being used to hide the ghoul in front of her. Before the creature could do much, she gestured with her wand, and spoke again, "Petrificus Totalus!" The ghoul's arms snapped to its sides and its legs went together before it collapsed to the ground stiff as a board, as Selina hit it with a Full Body-Bind Curse, as she didn't want to harm the creature, or the room.

New Year 2033 - 2034
Reminders...
* Students must attend a minimum of half the lessons for the year or face losing house points.
Unless reason is given either in the absent thread or through private message. If so it will count as if you were present for that class lesson.
This was Thorsten’s last class of the week and it was with the fifth years. They had there OWLs to study for this year and he hoped to prepare them for it. Though ghoul and ghost studies, wasn’t exactly a hard subject theory wise it was when you had to deal with ghouls that it became more complex. Not that Thorsten was worried about that. He just hoped that they would continue the class next year.
Sitting at his desk as his students arrived, Thorsten hardly showed any expression as he looked to see theirs. Getting up and going to the front of his desk he leaned up against it before flicking his wand to the board revealing the subject topic on the board. “Good afternoon and welcome back to ghoul and ghost studies. I hope you enjoyed your summers.” Thorsten greeted before reminding them of their upcoming test at the end of the year. “Reminder, you have O.W.L testing this year. So we will be preparing for that through the year.”
“Now, let us review so I know what to focus on later, one topic each please.” Thorsten asked of them before adding. “Once that is done we will continue into new material.”
Thorsten decided to make this class lesson relatively fun. How? He was going to get his students to locate the ghouls in the classroom. That was technically the purpose of the class after all. Standing outside of the classroom, he waited for his students to arrive. “Good afternoon,” Thorsten greeted before explaining why he was outside of the class today. “Today you might wonder why I’m outside the classroom. We will be catching ghouls today. They are hidden in the room and you’re job is to find, then catch them.” He informed them before going into how to do so.
“The ghouls we will work with are hidden as objects. In order to find them you need the Ghoul Finder Charm. The incantation is Deprendus Lamia, pronounced Dee-PRAIN-dos Lah-mee-ah.” Thorsten told them carefully pronouncing it despite his German accent. “Wand movement is a tiny flick. If successful tip of wand will glow from faint yellow to velvet red the closer you get to a ghoul. The red glow appears when within a three meter radius of a ghoul.” He explained. “Concentration on spell means it will remain active. Lack of concentration breaks spell. As for capture be creative, no fire please.” He finished before letting them into the room. “Now good luck, details of spell are on board for reference” Thorsten told them allowing them to have at locating the several ghouls thought the classroom.

Thorsten sat at his desk as his students arrived. He hardly showed any expression as they took their seats. Getting up and going to the front of his desk, he leaned up against it before flicking his wand to the board revealing the subject topic on the board. “Good afternoon,” Thorsten greeted before getting into the topic. “Today we will be discussing Inferi.” He informed them before the board wiped clean and a piece of chalk started writing the notes for the lesson.
“Inferi or an inferius is a dead body reanimated by dark art of Necromancy, Which is the art of raising the dead.” Thorsten told them as he walked around the room. “They are bewitched to do dark wizard’s bidding much like a zombie. As such they have no free will and cannot think for themselves." He said before adding. "These gaunt, skeletal beings appear pale white in color but very in eye and hair color like any other human.”
“Clearly no spell can bring back the dead making Inferi merely corpse puppets and not living. They cannot feel, as such they are immune to bodily harm and have enough strength to kill even drag human away.” Thorsten continued as he continued back up to the front of the room. “It can be noted that they can speak as well.” He added before asking. “Now any questions?”
What will it take to show you that it's not the life it seems? I've told you time and time again you sing the words But don'tknow what it means to be a joke and look-- Another line without a hook, I held you close as we both shook For the last time, take a good hard look!

Despite around two or three years of studying, Avian still hated this class nevertheless. To spite his father, he was going to get a high grade on this, then he'll ditch it in his sixth year and tell him that he's not getting any job in the Ministry and probably fly to the sunset. That would work. Writing down his notes and looking up when the professor was asking questions, he raised an eyebrow and said, "While they're immune to bodily harm, there should be a way to destroy them, is there?" He sounded abit salty, not that he was aware of it or anything.

You said you read me like a book, but the pages all are torn and frayed I'm okay, I'm okay now, but you reallyneed to listen to me Because I'm telling you the truth! I mean this! I'm okay[Trust me]
Thorsten listened to Avian and nodded. "Yes, there is. We will touch on that next class." He told him before adding. "To answer question, light and heat are useful against them." With that Thorsten dismissed the class for the day. Next class would be interesting he was sure.

“Combating Inferi is relatively simple. Being dark creatures, stands reason they dislike light. Since merely corpses heat in turn burning is also effective.” Thorsten told them as he walked around the room. “Thus fire-summoning spells are useful tool to kill Inferi." He said before adding as he headed back up to the front. "Incendio good for one or two Inferi. For an army fire charm Lustro Circulus would be better, as it is larger and encircles you thus drawing them away. Since it is quite dangerous we will not work on it, however the spell is on the board for your interest.”
Thorsten turned back to his class as he leaned on his desk. “It should be noted, Inferi feel no pain and do not bleed. Thus, making them resistant to most spells that afflicted pain or injury.” He pointed out before asking. “Now any questions?”

Thorsten had ran out of time to get into the class lesson last week. This week however would be different. Sitting at his desk as his students arrived, Thorsten hardly showed any expression as he looked to see theirs. Getting up and going to the front of his desk he leaned up against it before flicking his wand to the board revealing the lesson. “Today we will jump into discussion on ghouls.” Standing up from his leaning option at the front of his desk, the German wizard flicked his wand at the board once more. The board wiping clean and a piece of chalk started writing the notes for the lesson. “I suggest taking notes down from the board.” He gestured before continuing on.
“Ghouls resemble a slimy ogre with buck teeth. They are not so much dangerous but they can be a nuisance. They find their homes in attics or barns of wizarding families. I too had a ghoul at a time, noisy creatures. They mostly groan and throw objects, which makes them rather dimwitted. However, great taking care of pests, as that’s what they eat.” Thorsten told them as he walked around the room. “They resemble a slimy ogre with buck teeth. I too had a ghoul at a time, noisy creatures. They however take care of pests, as that’s what they eat.” He explained before going on. “At the ministry, Ghouls are beasts classified as a scale of two. That means Harmless or may be domesticated. They have the ghoul task force there in the regulation and control department. Their job is to remove unwanted ghouls from houses.” He finished as he made his way back to the front of the classroom.
Turning back around to face his students, Thorsten decided to mention a different type of ghoul. “There are also varieties of ghouls. One in particular, the Chameleon Ghoul can disguise itself into everyday objects. Thus avoiding detection… Now any questions?” He asked before looking up at the clock. “If not then you are dismissed.”
