Ignatius was actually starting to feel a little winded, which he definitely did not approve of. So he'd just have to try punching one of them again, right? Ignatius reeled his fist back, staring the vine creatures down once more. When he punched again, it was just about as effective as it had been the first time, which was to say absolutely not at all effective. HP: 10/50 Stamina: 23/27 Damage: 3... Ig's favourite number. At the very least, the first creature they had encountered seemed to be on its last legs now, a fact Bren proved when he managed to knock it down with his next hit. Jumping a little in an attempt to locate Ignatius on the other side of its remains, he failed to notice that the second monster was winding up to smack him until it had happened. Rude. He turned to face it, arms crossed.

Ha, finally! Ignatius stomped on the now dead remains of the vine creature just for good measure, though that took more out of him than he'd like to admit. Damn vine creatures. No part of him wanted to admit that he was weak, though, so Ignatius focused all the energy he could into his fist, running forward to punch the rude interceptor in the face. It seemed to actually be very effective, even if it felt like he would collapse at any moment after it smacked him back. He refused-- ! Though he did catch an inadvertent lashing from one of the remaining monster's vines, Bren was able to wisely use the time Ignatius had given him in the aftermath of his ferocious a** kicking. The enchanted things he had remembered to bring flew through the air, jabbing the creature in the back of the head but still not drawing its attention.

Thankfully, it still hadn't turned. Bren drew closer, his larger blade in hand, and stabbed it a couple of times in what he guessed was its thigh. The creature went down like the first. He hoped Ignatius wasn't under it.
"Hey," he said, trying not to attract any more of the things. "Still here?"

Quote: gaia_crown [ Round 2: ]
- All players must now proceed further into the Orphic Wildwoods. It glimmers violet and gold like twilight, will o'wisps hanging in the air. - To cross the room, roll 1d100. - If you roll 80 or higher you manage to follow the faery lights to the exit. - If you roll between 25 and 80, you wander off the path, drawn by an enchanting music that suddenly stops, leaving you teetering at the edge of a deep pit. That was close. Keep rolling, and subtract 1 Stamina. - If you roll between 1 and 24, a spiders web catches you, silken and strong. Every attempt to struggle out of it results in it growing tighter. Once you hold still, it lets you free. Keep rolling, and subtract 1 Stamina. -Continue rolling until you roll 80 or higher! - For every time you roll 25-80 (each reroll between these numbers), you must subtract 1 of your given Stamina points. - For every time you roll 1-24 (each reroll between these numbers), you must subtract 1 of your given Stamina points. - If you hit 0 Stamina points, you cannot go any further/ you dissipate/ pass out/ and have to start over from Round 1! - If you made it past this round, you can proceed to round 3.

"Yeah," offered Ignatius, sounding a little out of breath. Of course, he immediately realized how weak he sounded and stood up straighter to rectify that. Especially after Brenley had owned the rest of that thing, he couldn't let on how much it had taken him out. (Admittedly, his failed plasma blast had assisted with that. He needed to work on that. Maybe some more spars. Against Piper. He needed to get his revenge on her yet--) He cleared his throat. "I think we can move on now?" Ignatius walked forward, deciding that dwelling there was boring and also a very bad idea. Unfortunately, he walked right into a damn spiderweb. "s**t!" He squirmed, batting at the disgustingly sticky material. It stuck at his skin and his feet, restricting him more and more the more he wanted out. His breathing quickened. s**t. s**t. s**t. One of the things that Ignatius feared most was the inability to move, and this was hitting on all cylinders. He squirmed, thrashed, and pulled at the material, only finding himself able to move less and less as more silk stuck to him and brought him in tighter. He couldn't move. He couldn't move. He couldn't breathe. It drained at his core. He couldn't go, couldn't go-- When the already weakened Ignatius wore himself out struggling, and could no longer move his body enough to struggle, he went slack. The web then spat him out rather unceremoniously. Ignatius laid on the ground, for a minute, body unable to move. Then, shakily, he stood back up and let out an, "I'm fine!" which didn't sound very fine at all, but he wasn't going to let on just how terrified he felt in his core. At least, not consciously. Brushing the leaves and dirt he had dislodged during the fight off of his clothing, Bren nodded and headed toward Ignatius's voice once he knew that he had made it out all right. Anything else—the other boil's exhaustion, the webs, his struggle—was lost when Brenley heard the music. For a couple of seconds he found it strange and a little worrying that an odd song was coming from the trees, but it wasn't long before he was following, slowly wandering from the path, not quite far enough to be lost, but definitely far enough to nearly fall in a pit.
The music stopped when he was teetering on the edge, and the boil held back a gasp when he saw where he was, sure that if he let the air out, he would fall. He shifted his weight, leaning away from the crack in the earth and sighing with relief as he fell away from it. When Ignatius announced that he was fine, Bren shot to his feet and scurried off in his direction.

Admittedly, Ignatius was relieved that Brenley didn't seem to be there when he managed to get himself up. He didn't exactly want to broadcast that he was afraid. In fact, he didn't even want to acknowledge it himself. So he wouldn't. When he heard the music, it was a perfect distraction, and Ignatius walked right by Brenley, following what he thought was the source of the noise. His walking was a bit more stilted, a bit slower than it normally was, but he followed the noise, almost in a daze. The music was beautiful, enchanting. He wanted to be within it, to hear it, to dance to it. Ignatius closed his eyes for a moment, simply following the sound and not looking where he was going. His toes curled over the edge of a rock, and his eyes suddenly popped open. What was -- oh. Jack no. Ignatius reeled back from the edge, turning around and going back to where he came from. He was not falling off a cliff today. HP: 5/50 Stamina: 20/27

The music started up again, but Bren was having none of it. He stood his ground, watching the trees change color as they swayed in the breeze. There had to be a way out of here that didn't involve jumping to his death.
"Ignatius?" he said very quietly, having not seen the boil pass.

Ignatius heard the music again, but as enchanting as it was, he would not let himself be fooled. He was not going to throw himself off a bridge, even if that was where the beautiful music drew him -- No, do not walk towards the cliff, Ignatius. He was stronger than that. "Brenley?" called Ignatius, back, looking around for the reaper. "Brenley!" HP: 5/50 Stamina: 19/27

He could hear the boil, but the music was only getting louder and it was far more difficult to remain in one safe spot. Brenley took a seat on the forest floor. Take that, cliff.

"Brenley--s**t!" Ignatius was not getting stuck in this spiderweb again. He already felt his core jumping into his throat, and he wasn't going to let that happen. No no no no no no-- wait, maybe if he went slack again, it would let him go. That worked, so he fled away from the spiderweb as quickly as creaturely possible. HP: 5/50 Stamina: 18/27

He ended up back on his feet before too long, moving toward the other boil's voice, at least until he encountered the spider webs. Bren's fears had more to do with losing control of his mobility rather than having it restricted, so even as the web's strands constricted, the boil found it more fascinating than frightening. Of course, the thing eventually got a little too clingy for comfort, but by the time he could no longer move, it was already going slack. Next time he'd have to stay still just a little, though how he was actually going to do that was a bit of a mystery.
