That did go well...While Koru at first had thought the smokescreen would provide them with a bit of an advantage she now knew that Fong had some tricks up it's sleeve. Cyndaquil had missed his tackle attack and rolled to the ground. Koru flinched and and jerked forward,"Are you alright Cyndaquil?"Cyndaquil shook his head to regain his composure, well what little he had to begin with. He was shocked when Fong began to glow from it's meditate. He was ready to step back but Koru said,"Don't give up! Use Leer on Fong!" Cyndaquil at first wasn't sure that was a good idea, but he trusted her judgement for most things so he followed her instructions and stared into Fong's eyes with his own, glowing their own shade of orange aura. If Koru remembers correctly leer takes a knock at an opponents defense, hopefully she remembered right. This next move was going to be a little risky. She swung her arm and yelled out,”Okay Cyndaquil run back and use smokescreen again!" Cyndaquil was perfectly fine with running away. He turned on the ball of his small foot and skedaddled away close to where Ms. Floros was with her camera. Like before he stopped and released a large accumulation of smoke into the area. This time though Koru was going to make sure that Cyndaquil wasn't caught in it like before. With the battlefield re-smoked Koru looked around to see if she could identify where Fong was so Cyndaquil wouldn't get lost. She squinted her eyes tot hte point they were like his until she spotted the little weasel-no joke intended-and ordered,"Cyndaquil skip to the left and charge in for a tackle!" Cyndaquil hopped quickly to his left then pushed from the ground and straight into the smoke. Without any kind of serpentining or manuevering he was heading straight for the pokemon this time. He saw Fong and pushed at him with a tackle attack,”Cynda Quil!" A hit this time! Better than that Cyndaquil only partially fell over. Koru smiled and pumped her fists,”Okay boy get back out of the smoke!" Cyndaquil complied and ran away again to the saftey of the clearer air, but Fong was still inside, what would happen now? Smokescreen has a 100% rate and lowers target's accuracy by 1 Leer has a 100% rate and lowers target's defense by 1 Tackle has a 100% rate and has a power of 50

“Fong keeps meditating!” Xiatian commanded right after hearing Koru’s command to the fire type. Fong’s eyes remained closed but she shifted to sitting position with both legs crossed when her opponent began glaring at her with Leer. The glow continued to envelope her but she could feel the prickling sensation on her skin and assumed that it must come from the effect of Leer. At the same time, she could feel something awaken in her with comfortable warm gradually spread from the center to other parts of her body.
Xiatian attempted to analyze the Leer move. She could see that the fire type was glaring with orange glow at her partner. From what her father had taught her, glaring was an act of intimidating someone into submission, meaning that the victim would have been scared and their defense would be lowered. The definition should apply for a pokemon move too right? If that’s the case, then Fong’s defense must have been lowered, despite not having eyes open. “Fong, stay calm and continue meditating! Keep listening for Cyndaquil’s movement!” Once again the battlefield was covered in black smoke and Fong’s figure was disappeared from sight. After a moment, Fong stood up and stayed still, legs spread in a defensive stance. She could still hear the other’s movement in the tall grasses and the koru girl’s next command. He was coming straight to her.
“Fong, take him down with Pound!” Xiatian was quick to give her next command after Koru and watched as the fire type ran into the smoke. Back to the fighting type, Fong turned to directly face where the sound of pokemon running through the grass came from and bended her knees slightly, preparing herself for an impact from the collision. She didn’t need to wait long though. As the other tackled her, she managed to grab hold of its head with both arms and pulled her opponent along with her in a fall. Struggling, she recovered from the fall and went sitting on top of the fire type’s body with her legs on each of his sides, locking him in one place. Her fist then raised up and punched him in the face continuously.

Just when he got his footing things went down. Cyndaquil was jumped by Fong after his tackle attack and the weasel pokemon began to use her pound attack continuously. Cyndaquil flinched with every hit squealing,"Quil! Quil! Cynda! Quil!"Koru held her hands close to herself in utter shock. Cyndaquil wasn't ready for this, he was still getting used to using his own attack much less compete in a full on battle. The only real experience he's had was in the battle with Fletchling and even then he was barely able to stop Fletchling to allow her to catch him. Watching him getting hit like that was becoming too much for her she had to do something,"Cyndaquil hold on!" With the sound of each hit Cyndaquil was beginning to feel numb, but he could still hear Koru, pleading for him to hold on. His flame fluctuated against the grass, scorching it and causing some rising smoke. These flames burned with his emotions, and he was feeling incredibly scared but brave. He opened his mouth,”Cynda Quil!" From his mouth small bolts of fire shot outward and struck Fong point blank, sending her off of him. Cyndaquil stopped the attack and stood himself up and ran towards Koru and took a defensive stand. Koru's face was blank and surprised. She rustled her hands around shocked and asked Cyndaquil,"When the heck did you learn Ember?!" Cyndaquil actually had no idea, but then Koru remembered she gave those rare candies to him as a treat without really thinking. He must've gained enough strength to lean a new move. Her shocked expression morphed with a goofy large grin. She pointed outward and shouted,”Okay buddy this is a whole new battle now! Use smokescreen!" Cyndaquil released his smoke before him and filled the battlefield with a smog once again. Koru furrowed her brow then announced,”Now let's try that Ember again!" His flame grew in size slightly and he opened his mouth and bolts of fire once again shot outward into the smog. It was a blind attack but it had to have a good chance of hitting right? Plus what better thing to do than have a fire type use a fire attack!

“Fall back, Fong! I say, ‘fall back!’” Xiatian had noticed the subtle change in Cyndaquil and tried to warn her partner, but the latter kept on punching continuously, determined to end the battle here and now. Shortly later, she realized that it didn’t go the way she wanted as suddenly the local coward suddenly gained some courage within the time of being attacked and countered back with fire shooting out from his mouth. It was Ember! Eye-widened at the spark of fire inside the opened mouth, Fong quickly jumped off backward, rolling onto the ground yet the attack still hit her. The damage was mostly on her arms though, since in defense she held them up and crossed them into an ‘X’. With great effort, Fong rose up on her feet even before hearing her trainer called out in worry. “Fong, nǐ hái hǎo ma? Fong!” At this point, Xiatian wasn’t sure if she should continue with the battle. The Ember took both her and Fong by surprise as they didn’t expect their opponent to suddenly learn new move during the battle. She was worried that later Fong would get seriously injured from the move again. Burn wound wasn’t something that one should take it lightly. “Fong, you want to continue or not?”
Taking a deep breath, Fong replied with a firm shake of her head. No, she wouldn’t let it end now, especially not after hearing the tone and words of Koru girl cheering on the echidna. A whole new battle? Tch, human and their self-righteous smugness. Getting cocky over one new move was so typical of them. Disgusting. Her glare was visibly sharp and menacing as she directed it to the fire type who used smokescreen one more time filling the battlefield with darkness. However this time his trainer definitely made a wrong decision; the weasel would make sure of it.
“If that’s your wish…alright. Fong, stay alert!” There was no response but Xiatian continued anyway. “Conceal your presence and watch out for attack!” The weasel’s figure disappeared in correspondence to the command. Her eyes were still closed but her hearing was much sharper than before. Running randomly she waited in the darkness for the right moment and eventually it came with a command from both sides.
”Now let's try that Ember again!"
“Fong, Detect now!”
The weasel had sensed it coming; running at the top of her speed, she swiftly headed towards where the Cyndaquil was standing at the moment while dodging the constant flow of flame. At the same, she kept her presence concealed from her opponent’s eyes as much as possible until she suddenly burst out into the clean air and came face to face with her target—the echidna! “Pound him now!” Once she had closed the little distance between them, she pulled her arm back and thrust her fist upward in what appeared to be a powerful uppercut that held intention of breaking opponent’s jaw. After the attack, she jumped back and returned into the smoke, concealing her presence once again. Now, with a damaged jaw like that one, would the fire type still wish to use Ember again? Probably not.

Koru was incredibly impressed by Fong and Xia. It was like she was fighting against an experienced trainer in this battle and not just a student like herself. Fong had absolute control of herself. This made Koru feel all the problems with her own decisions. Smokescreen at first was helping but now it was being used against them. Just as she had told Cyndaquil release a barrage of Ember Fong came at him with a pound uppercut. Cyndaquil was sent flying into the air from the attack and hit the ground. He stayed on his side and shook, making Koru approached him in worry,"Cyndaquil are you okay? You don't have to continue we can stop,"Koru was about to lay her hand on his head but Cyndaquil shifted and struggled himself up from the ground.
His legs were shaky and he was feeling the pain in his jaw coming at him like there was no tomorrow, but today he wasn't going to be a coward,"Quil quil Cynda quil Cyn! (You not stop me!)" He shouted into the smoke. Koru had no idea what he was doing, but he was crying out to his opponent as a sign that he wasn't giving up until his last ember. Koru stayed kneeling to keep an eye on him and asked,”Cyndaquil if you can use leer until the last possible moment." Cyndaquil nodded and stared into the smoke. For a time he held his place doing this like she had asked. It was starting to seem like he couldn't hold it anymore, until he knew now why Koru asked him to hold out- the smoke was clearing and Fong was becoming visible. Cyndaquil intensified his gaze at Fong and as doing so Koru stood up and said,"Okay Cyndaquil go in and shower Fong with Ember!"Cyndaquil ran towards Fong head on and then jumped in his step and opened his mouth- along with his back flame burning bright-shot a flurry of ember bolts towards the weasel,”QUIL!" Slowly through this battle Koru was beginning to notice just how fierce Cyndaquil actually was. Yes he is timid, but he is fast and apparently just as stubborn as she is.

The uppercut had been successful in inflicting considerable damages on her opponent, if the worried tone of his trainer calling him was anything to go by. Fong had taken pride in that punch; in her mind, it would definitely blow away any amount of conceitedness he recently gained from the newfound move. However, shortly later, her thought was proved wrong when the fire type bravely shouted out, “You not stop me!” Those words were meant for her to hear, she knew it right away. So the coward decided to grow a real backbone at the last moment? Fine, if that’s the case, then she would test that backbone out if it was strong enough to withstand her strength. Not literally of course.
Xiatian could feel that they were finally reaching the end of this battle. Both sides were heavily injured and needed medical attention after this, but both pokemon was giving impressive performance—something she hadn’t often seen in pokemon of first stage (baby level). This battle could just be what inspired them—probably mostly on the cyndaquil—to become much stronger in the future. The Chinese girl couldn’t help but admit that she was excited to see the outcome of it. But now she had to focus! “Fong, be ready for whatever coming! Use meditate!” While Koru told her partner to use Leer, Xiatian made a decision to have her partner build power up for the last attack. The soft glow once again manifested and enveloped the weasel as she waited in the darkness for the right moment. She could once again feel the prickling sensation on her skin, meaning that her opponent was using Leer on her. Fong held both fists ready to head out and face the flame again. And so she did, right after her partner shouted, “Fong, eyes open and rush in with Pound!” Xiatian gave out a command at the same as Koru did and both pokemon was running head-on towards each other. At this point, both pokemon made a decision to how they would execute their attack. Cyndaquil jumped into the air and breathed out a stream of flame while Fong avoided a direct hit from the shot and approached as close as she can to the fire type before jumping into the air and punching him in the stomach.
Now…here comes the moment that we all have been waiting for.....
Raised Attack by one stage! Pound has a 100% rate and a power of 40! Note: Any decrease and increase in stats will be done after the battle ended.
Mienfoo will receive 250 EXP for winning as well as one heart piece added to its friendship box.
Cyndaquill will receive 125 EXP for participating in the battle and one heart piece will be take away from its friendship box for losing.
Furthermore, Xiatian Li will be given a warning for failure to properly follow the battle mechanics regarding accuracy. Cyndaquill used Smokescreen three times (two which hit) meaning Mienfoo's Pound attack loses its 100% accuracy and instead drops down to 80% meaning Xiatian Li would have to had rolled a dice to see if the attack connected.
Also, a player is only allowed to use ONE move per post. Both members were using 3 moves every post which is not correct. It was our failure for not mentioning this in the rules, but please be aware that the Battle Mechanics rules will be updated. You guys were not punished for this action, but please use only one move per post from now on when it comes to Pokemon Battles.

"Fong!" Xiatian shouted in worry at her partner who ungracefully landed back on the ground. She rushed to the weasel’s side and held her carefully into her arms. “You okay? Sorry for all the troubles you go through for me.” The only thing the girl wanted from the battle was for her friend, Koru, to be cheerful once again. However, at some point, both pokemon had taken the battle very serious, especially from her side. Admittedly, at the moment, Xiatian was sort of…scared of Koru’s reaction. She knew that she was alittle different from most girls in many ways. Yes, she was cheerful but also extremely daring and bold just like her father. It made girls back at her hometown stayed away from her. Xiatian bit her lower lip from all the thinking but then she felt a soft hand on her cheek and looked down to see Fong giving her a very rare encouraging smile before fading into unconsciousness. “Fong…” Xiatian mumbled softly at the gesture before smiling as well. “Thank you…” And then Fong’s figure was enveloped in red light and disappeared into the pokeball. Xiatian stood up, brushed away grasses on her knees and walked over to Koru. “Ummmm…Koru.” She started, feeling hesitated. “Is Cyndaquil alright? Sorry…I didn’t mean it to go downhill…You want to get icecream after this?” She offered a nervous smile to her friend, hoping things would return to normal.
Koru rushed forward as Cyndaquil took Fong's last hit and was began fall straight for the ground,"Hold on I got cha!," She was able to catch him in the cradle of her arms just in time. Her knees almost buckled from the landing but she was able to keep standing. She petted Cyndaquil's face and he squirmed back to a form of consciousness and held her finger with his nubby paws. She smiled with her expression still washed with worry, ,"You were great Cyndaquil I'm sorry I lost us this one. I'll work hard to make sure we become stronger next time okay?" He smiled and rubbed his face into her chest and let out a purring noise- a sign of content and comfort. Koru looked up from her partner and saw Xia. It seemed that she had sent Fong to rest in her pokeball. She seemed to be wearing the same worry she was, but somehow it seemed different. She appeared hesitant speaking to her but she finally got out the question on Cyndaquil's condition. Koru down at him again and answered smiling a little,”Yeah he's okay he'll be fine. He and Fong tried really hard so they must be really worn out now-" She pulled out his pokeball and let the light envelop Cyndaquil's tired body. A good rest is just what he deserves after all of that. Fong and Xia were strong, stronger than she expected. She had only focused what Cyndaquil could do and did little to go against what Fong was up to- she had a lot to learn from this battle. She placed the ball back in her pocket but jerked her sight to Xia suddenly when she began apologizing. Koru stood there in frozen shock,wide-eyed even, then jerked forward and wrapped her arms around Xia in a bundled hug,"Xia I couldn't begin to thank you for what you did!" She started flash back to everything these past few days, eveyone that she met and what she needed to know,”These past few days have been...so hard.... I can't begin to understand most of it but Xia you- You lit my fire! You're my best friend AND my first battle! Do you know how important that is!? You and Fong were amazing! You really brought me back to my place and well now I want to go back to moving forward. No more doubt. No more worry I need to begin my journey," She finally released Xia from the hug and gave her a large grin, with a few stray tears of joy,”I hope I can battle you again when we're stronger." She wiped her eyes and nodded"Ice cream sounds great! Let's go!,"She wrapped her arm over Xia's neck and shoulder and she walked along with her back towards campus to get that ice cream and get their pokemon some rest. She thanked Ms. Floros for judging the battle but then began to gush to Xia,”OH can you believe Cyndaquil used Ember!? I didn't know he could do that yet!" She flailed her hands up in the air in surprise. Today Koru hit yet another milestone, her first battle. Whether winning or losing it was a step that would create the way to her dream of the future. They arrived at a relatively empty land, save for the Pokemon that scurried about. It was refreshing to be away from people. It took quite a bit to be around them but here she could be herself. ”Todays a nice day Chespin,” her partner looked up to her and then towards the scenery. The wind caressed the blades of grass as it weaved through each of them individually. Sitting herself down, placing her bag on the ground, Alana just took in the refreshing scene. Chespin didn’t seem to be in the mood for gazing out at the grassland. What it wanted right now was some food! It knew that it was Lunch time right about now and its tummy wanted some relief. It looked out across the land and didn’t see any food growing on any trees or any trees at all. It looked towards the human’s bag and then back to her. The child seemed preoccupied with her own thoughts as the Pokemon tiptoed near her bag. It immediately began to dig through the goods of her bag till it found some interesting little blue things. It didn’t know what it was but it looked edible. It took three out of the five that was in its bag and began to pop one in its mouth. Chespin thought it tasted quite yummy. It soon found itself paws empty of the sweet candy with the exception of the wrappers. Carefully, it began to put the wrappers back into her bag and sat next to the girl as if it had done no wrong. Alana took out her device, she realized that she might have to fiddle around with it if there was going to be any hope of being able to use it. ’I’m sure this device can be more than just a phone.’ Trying to navigate through her device, trying to figure out what it could actually do, she finally came upon the Pokedex feature. ’Chespin, the Spiny Nut Pokemon. The quills on its head are usually soft. When it flexes them, the points become so hard and sharp that they can pierce rock. It possesses such a thick shell of wood which covers its head and back, that even a direct hit from a truck wouldn't faze it.’ On the screen of the device was a Chespin, along with some stats, and other information. She looked over the information but had to to reread one of Chespin’s moves. ”You can use Rollout?” The Pokemon looked over to the girl and just shrugged its shoulders, as if the girl had asked a dumb question that the Pokemon didn’t feel inclined to answer. ”And when did you level up?” It gave another shrug. Alana sighed at her Pokemon’s cooperation to her own questions as it just stared out at the grassland. Its ears had been lying low on its head when it suddenly perked up. The Pokemon looked off to its right, ”Is something wrong Chespin?” The Pokemon was quiet as it looked off at the horizon. Moments later the wind dyed down as a horse-like creature came moving along. It was quite a beauty in her eyes; watching the fire of its mane, its tail, and just watching each of its gesture. Alana was a bit lost at first but shook herself out of it while pointing her device at the fire creature. ’Ponyta, the Fire Horse Pokemon. Capable of jumping incredibly high, its hooves and sturdy legs absorb the impact of a hard landing. Its hooves are 10 times harder than diamonds and thus can trample anything completely flat in little time.’ There appeared to be more information about this beautiful creature but Alana was going to be preoccupied with something else at the moment. When she looked up from her device she noticed that the Ponyta was making a sprint for her. She had no clue of what was happening but Chespin face was serious. It charged right back towards that Ponyta; a battle was about to commence.

The two began charging at each other and the human was unsure of what to do. Was the Ponyta trying to attack them? Was Chespin defending? Did the two do something to invoke some sort of fight? Was she not supposed to make eye contact with such a wonderful Pokemon? The questions were bugging her and the uncertainty of it all was frightening. For one, Chespin was at a disadvantage considering that Grass-types were weak to Fire-types. Maybe Chespin had a chance though, Alana remembered the new move that Chespin had just learned. ”Chespin, lets us Rollout!” Alana wouldn’t be able to see the smile that spread across the Pokemon’s mouth as it began to roll into a ball and smacked right into the fire-type. The move would be super-effective as Ponyta smashed into the ground. It looked painful to watch as the creature tried to stand back up. Scratches and dirt was marked upon its body as it faced the rolling Chespin. The Ponyta let out a whine/growl towards the grass-type. ’That must be its Growl attack. If I remember correctly, the move decreases physical attacks by a bit. I don’t think that is going to be very effective against Chespin though.’ Chespin continued to roll but at a higher velocity as it smacked right into the Ponyta. The Pokemon was sent hurling back into the ground.

Alana cringed once more as the Pokemon struggled to get back up. Personally, the girl wished the Pokemon would stay down so that it wouldn’t have to fight anymore. Maybe it was its burning spirit that kept it going. Chespin didn’t seem to want to stop but then again the girl couldn’t really make out its facial features. For the moment, Chespin paused in its Rollout attack as it faced the horse. The Pokemon lowered its body, allowing its tail to be seen by Chespin and Alana. Ponyta wagged its tail quite cutely, to which the two found it a bit adorable. ’That must be a Tail Whip! Its supposed to lower a Pokemon’s Defenses.’ By this time the Pokemon seemed to be huffing and puffing as if it was on the last bit of its legs. Chespin looked back at its Trainer and motioned for the girl to come forward. She had been a bit aways from the fight but now that Chespin beckoned her forward, she believed the fight to be over. ”I’m sorry Ponyta.” The girl murmured to the Pokemon as it laid sprawled on the ground. ”I promise I’ll treat you right…and thank you for a wonderful battle.” The Pokemon whined as if in response to the girl’s voice. Its head lifted from the ground as it moved to nudge the girl in the leg. Her hand immediately rested upon its nose and gave it a nice stroke. ”I’ll do my best to live up to your expectation.” The girl reached for the Pokeball in her pouch and gave it to the Ponyta. ”I’ll leave the decision to you, I don’t wont to force anything on you.” The horse puffed out its nose as it glanced up at the girl. It appeared to be in though when it looked down at the round object in her hand. Ponyta nudged the ball with its nose; as it did a red light shot out from the ball and engulfed the Pokemon. The ball only gave one shake before a ‘boop’ came out of the Pokeball. Alana whispered a ‘Thank you,’ to the Fire-type, looking extremely happy to have caught her first Pokemon. ”Alright Chespin lets get both of you healed.
