She knew she was dreaming, it wasn't of red and dark colors as her usual nightmares, but she knew she was dreaming. Frustration was not a strange sensation to the petite Asian, whenever she approached a new person and realized they were not the right one, it visited her. She stared at the door again, frustrated but calm with the presence of all the noises. In a happenstance, the feeling dissipated and easiness filled her up.
The door pushed open easily.
Behind it was some memories. It was not the first time she experienced events that recalled her past but she never get used to them. She hated whatever past being dug up as they upset her.
Quote:
{ HUNGER } The storeroom was without light, she put her hand over the dumming stomach and rubbed it lightly as if comforting it. Father got mad at her again for reasons she couldn't figure out. He suddenly grabbed her arm and threw her into the storeroom well before dinner's ready. She heard he locked the room up and went off warning others not to let her out. The first time he did it, she was scared, little hands hitting the wooden door loud and adamant. The door shook but no one answered. Hour passed after an hour, she got tired from yelling and fell asleep. One, two, and many times she was locked up. The window opened at the back of the storeroom brought in chilly winds and it was unapproachable with all the stuff in the room. The little girl quivered in coldness, curled up like a shrimp and allowed her thighs to press against her stomach. She thought she could sleep through the hunger in no avail, the wind was cold, the floor was cold and her body was cold. She streched her top and stuffed her legs into it. That was why later on she carried some snacks with her in pockets, starving was the worst.
Quote:
{ LONELINESS } There were countless times she felt lonely, for it being her biggest fear since she was young. She was a good actress, most of the time she could hide her emotions, she could even cheat her weapon partner. She wished she could never learn loneliness, without all the people she knew, she'd never feel its existence. Twitter was one of her largest sources of loneliness, when she watched how people interacted in her small dark basement room. All her wanted was someone who would put her in the most important place, the top priority over others. She knew well it was impossible when she did not allow herself to stay close to someone. Her best friend can't, they can't, she can't and he can't. She was in despair and the world was meaningless to her. It gave her nothing to continue.
Quote:
{ LIGHT CRUSH } Since she had seen him in a photo, she was awared of him. She won't deny that she had a special affection towards males wearing glasses because of her father and brother. After being abandoned by her parents in the hospital, she had projected her feelings to her cold supervisor. It felt like her reactions to her father but there was something different. A complicated sensation even herself couldn't explain, one thing she knew clearly was she wanted his recognition the same way she wanted her father's attention. His words were harsh and cruel but logical, she had a desire for him to look at her, she needed outstanding performance. A crush, maybe?
The eyebrows above the amber eyes knitted together deeply in the dark, reliving those memories were a disaster and she didn't want more. Shu felt like she would do anything if she could end the dream immediately. It was unbelivably uncomfortable in a collective dream with other unfamiliar faces there. The petite Asian held herself with her arms, a defensive posture to protect herself from the rest.
She would be happy if she revisited wonderland, however there was only a shut door and many people.......
Why can't she end this life already?

Lex was dreaming, of course He was always an avid dreamer - mother said it was the nightmares that gave him such terrible daydreams and imaginary friends. Lex disagreed, always, and was proven right.
But this dream was oddly different. The entire air just felt...open, awake, buzzing with electricity and alive with the currents of emotion and history. Like a universal library, or a victory on Rainbow Road.
Memories started to glide by, all which Lex recognized. He reached out, and tapped the first.
Frustration
"What do you mean this is my house?" Lex pointed to all the moldy, water damaged wood in the room. "I can't live here! My mom's place is on the 12th floor!"
Family
"Now be careful son, poison oak and blackberry brambles can look a whole lot alike." Dad explained patiently, gently holding a bramble. They'd gone camping in Yosemite for Lex's 10th birthday. "You can tell by the thorns."
Struggle
"Dad's been gone for two years, Alexei. Not a word. He wants nothing to do with you, or he's dead." Mother left the doorway at that, arm in arm with another gentleman. Nigel, or Miguel. Something like that.
Lex was glad someone was able to stand his mother, but they would never replace Dad.
The memories faded, and Lex shivered. Such a rush... a good rush, almost cathartic. But now in front of him stood a door, and when he tried to open it would not budge. Why? He rattled the handle, stuck. He shoved against the frame with his shoulder, and nothing. Maybe he was too weak? Wearier than he thought from reliving those memories?

The fact of the matter was that Barth spent a very lot of time sleeping. Most of his time. He was therefore used to things going exactly how he wanted them to go, and while he was aware he was asleep, there was the matter of the door.
The door he hadn't put there.
This was undoubtedly an interference class of situation. "Now, listen," he began to the door, "I don't mean you any harm, but I'd rather not be dragged into things. You understand."
The door, although it opened for him, didn't understand at all.
Quote:
COMPLIANCE He was underwater, and bound from head to toe, his mouth sealed but his expression furious. Somewhere above was his conscious, but his usually tightly-grasped control had been severed.
Below him writhed a seabed full of coiling thorns, as angry as he was.
He and the thorns both waited. For now, he had no choice but to comply. But there was one thing Barth had in plentiful supply, and that was patience.
Quote:
FRUSTRATION "Mother," Barth said, pulling the silly hat off his head and trying not to look as embarrassed as he was. "I'm nearly 50."
"Oh, Barty, I know," Babs said, "But humor me just for this dinner party, won't you? You look handsome."
Babs rescued the hat from his claws, and plopped it neatly back between his horns.
Barth did not have the energy to reach his arms up a second time.
Quote:
RESPONSIBILITY
They grew up so fast. Much faster than him. He tried not to draw too much attention to his relative age. On a maturity level, he wasn't much older than his friends. Just on a technical level.
Still, it surprised him. Superbia and Tula had gone from small, odd balls of fuzz to mature...well, whatever variety of demon they were in fairly short order. Probably not Sloth. Definitely not Sloth.
On the one claw, it had given Barth less time to mess things up. On the other, it had given him less time to get it right.
"The ring spanner, if you would," he asked, and hoped that he was doing alright with it. The Father thing.

Rodney never slept well. His dreams weren't...a nice place to be.
Being alone in his head wasn't a good place to be either.
The door was a relief, ultimately. It was only a door. There was so, so much worse that the deeper parts of him felt like cleansing from him nightly that when he put his hand on the doorknob, and only found the sensation of warm metal, his chest caught and he wiped his eyes.
Just a door.
LONELINESS
"The weather's gorgeous, you really should come down," came the cheerful voice over the phone.
"Not soon," Rodney said. "Everything going okay with you?"
"Oh, it's great! Just great. Can't complain. You?"
Rodney held the phone a little more tightly. "It's okay," he said. "Any chance of you coming up?"
"With the move, everything's been sorta crazy."
Rodney listened a while, but the more he heard his voice, the further away he seemed.
VICTORY
It was his first award for anything. He hadn't worked on anything else since the funeral, and it wasn't like he knew what he was doing. But he knew what he wanted to do.
The ribbon was cheap, but it felt smooth under his thumbs.
He thought, maybe this time they'll be proud.
He knew they'd say it was a waste of time instead.
CONFRONTATION
He found himself pressed up against the wall of the garage shaking and pleading, "No, please, I won't-"
His heart going a thousand miles a minute. He'd said something wrong. He always said something wrong. The mechanic had raised his fist. When he could bear to look (if only because he hadn't been hit yet, and he was trying not to meet the mechanic's eyes), the man looked confused instead of angry.
Joking, he was just joking.

Zar was used to dreaming, you tended to be when you were partners with a Sloth demon as a general rule. But this felt different, everything about it felt different. It was like a different taste in the air, something that didn't quite sit right with him. He flicked his tongue irritably. The memories had just been distressing.
He didn't even try the door. Zar's immediate assumption was always that all doors for him were closed and if they were, they weren't going to open any time soon.
Quote:
RESPONSIBILITY "You'll take over the business when you are old enough to do so, and that will be who you are. It already is who you are." The ominous figure looked down to talk to him, small and cowering in the face of age and experience.
He wanted to say he didn't want to, that he wanted to find out who he really was, but he was too afraid.
"Yes Father."
Quote:
BATTLE A snap of his teeth and he caught hold of nothing but thorns, twisting his hold on them to pull at them, ignoring the way his gums bled.
Sometimes it was exceedingly good to fight, sometimes it was the most satisfying thing in the world.
Quote:
DEFEAT He'd fought so long and so hard. Constantly trying to resist, to win out and come out victorious over his opponent. He'd told himself he'd beat it, that he'd be strong enough in the end to win.
But he realised that day with a sinking finality that he'd been truly defeated in this particular fight as he climbed into bed with his two sleeping scarelings and their likewise sleeping father.
"That is me! Hello, Chris! I am doing very well. I seem to have all my belongings with me. This is very interesting. Wait, it has happened to you before? This is the first time for me. No wonder you seem so calm now. ANYWAY."
She grabs his arm, remembers that this human is a little nervous, and quickly lets go.
"We should go say hello to someone! Hmm, who..."
Ooh. There's a rather small-sized person over in the corner. A kindred spirit! Toki starts to walk over.
"Heeeyy! Hello! Hell--YEEEEK."
Smerdle
LO L
That's some glare. ...Perhaps she should choose somebody else. Maybe Chris will know someone, uh, friendlier.
"W-why don't, ah, you pick? Yes. There are so many humans here!"

Before Deus, his dreams had been more or less passive: had been fleeting visions that left Ever only with a sense of foreboding, of nostalgia, of sorrow or maybe even something hopeful. The details had faded into obscurity the moment he'd woken, slipping away before he had time to even put visions into words.
Now, though, things were different. Now dreams were something that snuck up on him and drew him in, an open door to a different time or a different place. now they got under his skin, and this time was obviously no different. An open door that drew him through into a different self, a different place.
ADMIRATION: By the third week of class, all that Ever could focus on was just how green Thomas's eyes were. Philosophy, the siren that had drawn him into this particular class, was thrown to the wayside. Socrates had nothing on this teacher. The pit of his stomach fell out as he realized there was something fundamentally wrong with him -- but absolutely nothing wrong with eyes that green.
ANGER: He'd spent so much of his life being obedient, that rebellion took him over like a drug. Or maybe that was the alcohol, straight vodka that burned on its way down, that fueled his mouth. This studio shithole wasn't the place for his moral philosophy; it wasn't a place to quote biblical verse that proved just how ******** everyone in the room was. Ever did it anyway. He always did, even if it meant a split lip by the end of the night. That was fine; he could grin through it.
LONELINESS: Anonymity was his form of defense, but in the long run, it probably hurt more than it helped. In the heat of the moment, pressed up against exposed brick with a hand driving the hem of his shirt slowly upward, with the taste of cigarette smoke and someone else's lips still distracting him, Ever felt better. He felt human, and noticed. He felt real, when he so rarely did otherwise. Later, though, as he hauled himself away to find somewhere to sleep, the memory soaked in and warped by cheap alcohol, it would only leave him hollow and alone.
The wash of memories was enough to leave him just a little bit breathless, to make him shudder. When he came up to the door, memories of a past self were dark enough to make him hammer his shoulder up against it before giving up and turning around to survey the space he was in.

It was odd, seeing other people now in what he believed was his dream. Seren was first, and he blinked and almost didn't want to believe that she was there. Still, he walked over and, in classic "Are you really real?" fasion, he pokes her cheek. Gently, of course, and when he realized that she really was there his smile turned playful.
"Fancy seeing you here," said the brunette, then glanced around at all the others that were there as well. It had started out so quiet, too.
"Actually it's kinda freakin' me the ******** out." He nodded at Toki in the distance, greeting someone whose name he vaguely remembered to be Chris, and Beka...it really was odd. But before he suggested they go see what was up, he turned his attention back to her, now frowning. "Did you see some things, too?"

It was so hard to get used to the weird things that always seemed to happen in Dues, though experiencing a waking dream seemed...harmless enough by Gabby's standards. Instead, when she realized that this was in fact a dream she just found herself irritated. First at the yelling, then at the screeching...and then there was a sudden calm before the door opened.
LIGHT ANNOYANCE: "Would you just do your chores like I ask already?" Gabby said, lightly kicking at her baby sister's legs. Her sister just giggled and dodged and went on with doing what she was doing, which was playing with her phone. Gabby heaved a very exasperated sigh before deciding not to waste her time anymore and just left to go get it done herself.
ANTICIPATION: She sat in the waiting room with her parents and her other sisters, waiting, hoping, praying for good news. Gabby's nerves pushed her into absolute silence; perhaps for the first time in her life she had absolutely nothing at all to say.
RESPONSIBILITY: It made sense. It made so much sense. It was all she could do for them, given their living situation and financial capabilities. There wouldn't be another offer like what Deus was offering, so it took all of ten minutes for her to deliberate and sign her life away in exchange for her family to have the means to hopefully give her sister a chance at hers.
She froze as the memories rushed her, pushed her to the brink of tears. But she fought them down and instead went ahead and tried to open the second door to no avail. Blinking, the girl then turned to see who all was there if anyone else. When she saw a familiar friendly face her expression lit up like a brand new lightbulb.
"Ate!" she called, flailing and hopping about from where she stood in hopes of getting Joy's attention. The only reason she didn't move was because she wasn't sure if she was actually standing on "solid" ground.

Jason had decided to look the other way for now, considering Yuki hadn't spotted him yet. The moon hunter then stared, a little confused, at a very excitable looking...demon? Monster? It was hard to tell what she was but the girl was hanging around another hunter, then running around shouting about meeting humans.
He...really didn't know what to think of it. The trainee didn't seem intimidated, nor did she seem...overly threatening? Just extremely friendly. At least thats what it looked like to him.
Slowly, he rose a hand in some sort of awkward wave to the two.

The grimace remained until she heard Gabby's voice. Turning, she worried for the sun and why the other woman was flailing around. Was she being attacked?
"Wait lang!" she called back, rushing to the younger woman's aid. "Ok ka ba? Anything hurting?" She started (visually) checking Gabby over to make sure.

She'd been pounding the door, scratching at it, and her hands stung with the effort of it as they lowered to her sides. Frustration melting into confusion, and then understanding. It didn't make sense, any of this, but that didn't seem to matter at the moment. Nothing really did. Nothing except...
"Zane?" Soleil was fair certain he'd been there before she'd fallen asleep, so where was he know, if she was here? Still in her bed? Thinking about it made her frown, and then the thoughts began to fade under the weight of growing voices and growing sounds. Lights and colors and scents surrounding her until something familiar flicked past, and she finally understood.
"Memories..."
Family "Because Luna, MMOs aren't my thing like they are yours.". It was a familiar tone, a famiar conversation they'd had many times before, one to the other. "We don't have to be playing the same game to game together." They'd tried it, but there just want that much overlap between their interests, abd what did exist was not normally multiplayer friendly. "Look, I'm right here, we're still hanging out.
Next time it'd be Soleil doing the asking.
Disgust TW She couldn't speak, the words frozen on her tongue. The protest was there, just out of reach, echoing over and over through her mind as his hands slid across her skin, up breath her shirt, down bwtween-
She couldn't speak, so she hadn't said no. She'd done nothing. Lied there, let it happen, and pretended to have liked it. Pretended she'd been ready, and that it wasn't a big deal.
Pretend enough, and it'd be true.
Power
"They only watch you because you're a girl."
Well duh, that was the point. That had always been the point. She'd taken something she lived to do, and she'd turned it into something more. Something she could draw from, gain confidence from, satisfaction from. Something to feed the vanity and the ego, because in the end, what was let but that?
The donations always came in, the subscriptions continued to climb. It was just. Perfect.
She'll blinked back to herself as the last of the memories broke, tearing away like spider silk that clung and tangled. Again, there was the door. Or a door.
Where the ******** was she?

Carrol's average evening consisted of a dream or two about candy, butts, or his Scarestation, followed by what might have been comforting silence, had it not been punctuated by jackhammer snores.
This dream was weird though. This dream was—
Quote:
HOPE
He carefully cradled the snowglobe in both hands as he gave it a shake, his crooked grin widening while he watched the storm inside. It was the last thing she had given him, a souvenir from some fancy Halloween city, but it wouldn't be the last last thing, he was sure of it. He was the only one who was.
BOREDOM
Carrol's legs flopped against the back of the sofa in an uneven rhythm, his eyelids sliding shut and snapping back open to another beat entirely. Wheel of Misfortune blared in the background, and his father and aunt hissed out an argument in the kitchen, but he was still so—
SATISFACTION
He didn't have an address where they might send an acceptance letter, but he was easy enough to find. That morning he awoke under a bush with a crick in his neck as usual, and that night he had a room with a bed and a blissful ******** shower and he was a Snot at Amityville Academy. Hells to the yes.
Weird. Yeah.
The boil lifted his arm away from where it lay across his eyes with a grunt, surprised to find a cigarette already lit and propped between his lips. He sat up with another grunt, the bell around his neck chiming brightly as he rose all the way to his feet and stretched, tiny, pale fingers spreading wide above his head. He'd replaced the collar the artifact had originally hung from with an orange shoelace, but ringing it still had the same effect. A small, translucent cat coalesced at his feet, twining around spindly ankles as he pulled open the door in front of him.
What was this? A party?

Sia was dreaming. She usually never dreams. If she did dream it was always the same dream. But this dream is different, instead of dreaming sweet dreams she dreamt of darkness and black bleakness. She didn't like it and wanted to wane up
When two doors appeared before her she tried with all her might to go to them. Anything to escape the darkness.
One of the doors opened and Sia was hitted with memories.
Quote:
Family Sia remember happy times. Her the only child to her mom and dad. Remembered being cherished and loved before it was taken away from her. Her family meant everything to her. She eod have done anything for her parents. "Mamma, Papa"
Quote:
Hated
This was an emotion that she shouldn't feel. She wasn't like that. She was the sweet and kind and loving type of person. But hatred she felt. It consumes her on a daily basis. She just wanted it to go away.
Quote:
Fear
Sia feared the future. Will she be struck like this forever? Will she ever see her parents again? Will she ever be able hug and be held be them. She missed them terriabley. Missed her mom's cooking and her dad's stories of princess who always wound up rescuing themselves.

Though he wouldn't admit it, Roland had a deep fear of waking up in strange places. Having reverted back in time, his last memories before being a hunter where going to bed in his own home and waking up in another place with another life.
Dream or not finding himself dealing with an unknown door in a cabin in a strange place instantly put him on edge. If he had been trying the door calmly before, he was now frantic to open it. Something scratched around him causing the worry to grow.
Then suddenly, just like that, it was gone, some small part of him accepting this was a dream and note reality. The door shifted and slowly opened his whole world seeming to shift suddenly.
FEAR His father was growling again, that heavy anger twisted up in his chest as he finally snapped at his mother screaming about what a waste it was to come back. He shut the door to his room.
PARANOIA The family photos, they where always in the same order, so why was his 10th birthday lined up before his 5th? A vase shifted ever so slightly. A shadow seeming to fall over it where no light was shining to cast one. His heart raced.
LONELINESS He never fit in at his highschool, the kid from Florida who didn't live up to anyone's expectations. The military kid who had no friends. He only had to survive two more years of this right?

Zane spent a lot of time sleeping, when he could get away with it. Whether or not he dreamt and remembered them was another story entirely.
He could feel the wood beneath his hand, the frustration bubbling within him as the door refused to open. Someone behind him was yelling, impatient that he couldn't open the door, the one that said open so why wouldn't it--
Scratch, scratch. Confused, green eyes blearily looked around. "Sol?" Hadn't he spent the night again? What--
The dream shifted.
Tiredness
"All you do is sleep." His mother nagged at him and Zane looked up from where he was sprawled out on the couch, the weight of sleep resting heavily on his eyelids.
"That's not true," he tried to argue, struggling to sit up. "I've just...I've been tired lately."
"You're always tired," she countered and he shrugged in response.
Joy
Laughter spilled from his mouth and he bounced on his toes, feeling exhilaration thrumming through his veins. "That was incredible!" He exhaled, head tipping back and happiness radiation from him before he was peering over the edge wondering if he had it in him to jump again.
A hand clapped on his back and someone raised a brow in challenge. They took off running.
Anticipation
Here it was, this was it now if he would just hurry up....
"Come on, come on." He rocked back and forth on his heels, green eyes flicking to the watch on his wrist once, then twice. He just wanted to--
Zane jerked, startled as he pulled back from the memories that were trying to drag themselves to the surface. A head shake and face rub later he looked around him. There was a door again and he was stepping towards it.
