You decide to check out the big doors on the left; nothing good ever came of creeping around in little hallways, and you can't very well just skip poking around the whole first floor, right? You approach the doors, though they're a little difficult to get moving, and they give an awful, low "creeeeeek" as you pull them open.
Beyond, as you adjust to the dim setting, the first thing you really notice is the smell, which somehow didn't emanate into the main room itself. The air is thick with the scent of damp rot and a hint of mold, mingling with the surprisingly pleasant smell of some kind of roasting fish and an overtone of ... pumpkin, maybe. The juxtoposition of the two is unusual, to say the least.
The space you've walked into appears to be a dining room, with a long table set with at least ten seats on each side, as well as one seat nearest you at the head of it. The appearance here is notably more run down than the previous room, with the wood paneling on the walls cracked and seemingly broken in places. The chairs themselves are of a darker wood, the plush seats in them having the appearance of water rot upon their surface. A fireplace at the far end of the room offers the majority of the light here, casting odd shadows as it flickers and dances on the walls.
Strangely, the plates and silverware on the table are actually quite clean, and you can see clearly where the smell is coming from - there are several plates of food heaped along the center of the table, primarily seafoods and seasonal vegetables. Nothing looks old or even unsafe - honestly, it looks quite tasty if one were to be so inclined towards the type of food!
The walls, you realize, are decorated with several paintings of rather dated looking animals, each looking perhaps more stern than the rest. The tall portraits almost make the small door near the back of the room, hidden in a dim alcove to the right of the fireplace, unnoticeable, but the sound of a doorknob clicking catches your attention.
Do you want to:
A. Investigate the furniture and paintings of the room. B. Check out that tasty looking food! C. Skip this room and go see if something is over by the door.

You decide to investigate what's beyond the smaller door; perhaps the big ones are an obvious ploy! This portal seems well-used, sliding open with little complaint and allowing you into the space beyond.
What you're greeted with is a long hallway, with several doors to your left and large window-panes on your right. There is light filtering in through the windows with the tone of low moon-light, and you don't see the city beyond - must be some sort of screens made to look like windows, maybe? Instead of high-rising buildings or the eager crowd outside, you're treated to a view of a dark courtyard, with what appears to be a decrepit and overgrown garden.
A sudden clatter at one of the windows further down the hall catches your attention, though you can't see any motion on it. You can't see any motion anywhere, actually; everything appears to be utterly still, here, from the silent courtyard "outside" to the cracked and peeling wallpaper on the walls. Even the sounds of your footsteps on the marble tile seem to scream at you in such quiet stillness, and the bare, undecorated walls offer little solace from feeling completely and entirely alone, even with the knowledge that there are likely other animals mere steps away from you.
You can:
A. Check the first door. B. Check the second door. C. Check the third door. D. Check the fourth door. E. Follow the hall to where it bends and ignore the doors.

You decide to take the less obvious route and skip the first floor entirely, climbing the large staircase instead. Its wooden base is covered in a rather worn carpet, though it bears the marks of finery 'in its day.' It is - or was - a rich crimson, decorated with floral designs at the edges and gilded trimming along its sides. It is, at least, soft underfoot, and it offers stable footing as you climb to the upper walkway.
From here, you can see more of the floor below, giving you a view of the chandelier as well. It would be a good position in a party, perhaps, particularly at the top of the stairs, though there is no well-dressed mass to address today. A bit of further examinations reveals things you couldn't see from below, as well; the railings seem a bit flimsy in places, well worn as though touched by a thousand hands before, with a few places chipped or broken through. The walls are adorned by several paintings, each - you recognize from a few familiar instances - a scene of an important landmark in the world.
There are three doors here - one large one to the right, with a worn sign above it, and two smaller ones side by side to the left, both unmarked. All seem to be built of the same dark wood as the bannisters, though perhaps less worn than they. However, as you turn to see if there is anything on the opposite side, you are greeted with an unexpected finding.
Directly above the entrance, silently standing on the walkway, is a ... figure? A monster, you could assume, though no notable features stand out; it is a tall, entirely still thing, draped in a black hood and cloak. The only reason you realize it isn't a statue is that it turns just slightly to watch you, three lightly glinting eyes catching the light under that draping cloth as it does.
It doesn't seem to do anything, though. Just watch. Just ... watch.
Do you:
A. Check out the big door. B. Check out the smaller door to the right. C. Check out the smaller door to the left. D. Investigate the creepy figure.

The door opened easily, and Rokki entered, finding himself in a long hallway. There were doors on the left, but his attention was first drawn to the windows lining the right side of the hall. None of them looked out on the city, instead showing soft moonlight and a view of an old decrepit garden.
They really had done a great job decorating. No wonder the line outside had been so long, this was a high quality haunted house.
A sudden clatter at window farther down caught his attention, drawing the fact that the rest of the hall was still. Even knowing that there had been others who had followed him in, it still felt like he was alone here in the hallway.
Impressive.
He glanced at the doors, frowning a little as he tried to decide. There didn't seem to be anything marking them as noticeable, so he decided on a tried and true method of decision making.
Eeny, meeny, minee, mo. That one. Door number 4.
D. Check the fourth door.
