Shion ordered them a fishbowl, intriguing Kaito as she petted his head and made his heart race faster. He listened to Shion lament her own mistake which comforted him - at least he wasn't alone in that. He couldn't help but laugh heartily at her expense, though he didn't mean any offense. It took him off-guard that such a confident, casual woman could embarrass herself around others, since she seemed so flippant and self-assured.
The fishbowl arrived with a little bit of teasing from Mae, and Kaito eagerly took a sip, his face twisting up in reaction to the sourness... but he kind of liked it.
"Ah, a little kiss isn't too bad... Anyone could misread... a situation..." He looked up and struggled to keep his gaze focused on her eyes, but he felt himself moving closer to her, as if he was trying to jump into the hazel pools themselves. His gaze fell to her lips unintentionally, but he couldn't tear them away.

After a brief moment, Shion picked herself back up and took another sip from the bowl, looking towards Kaito. Whoa. His eyes locked on hers... huh, they were different colors. How'd she miss that. Maybe it was the booze, the mutual lovers' woes, or something entirely different but... oh s**t, did she think he was cute? Her thoughts raced as fear gripped at her, holding her still. "No, no, do not. You just got over the last one! But his eyes... that look...
Everything seemed to move in slow motion as Kaito realized they were both looking into each other's eyes, and Kaito was still moving forward, and he kept dropping his gaze back to her lips and then up to her eyes and then back. Oh, he was screwed.
He lost track of time for a moment; he blinked and suddenly his lips were on Shion's, and there was a sweet-sourness to the kiss from the fishbowl and a tentativeness that quickly melted into alcohol-fueled enthusiasm. And as soon as it happened, it was over, because Kaito felt a cramping in his gut that warned him about future sickness, and he could almost taste the bile on his tongue from the alcohol that was very surely going to rise up any moment.

He pulled away from her with a bewildered look in his eyes, pure panic. He rose to his feet and swayed once he stood. "I- I got to go!" He barely managed to turn around and head out the door he entered from, making his way drunkenly through the bar and into the outside night air - oh geez, how much time had he spent inside chatting with her? - and turned the corner to empty his sick stomach. "Oof," he grunted as his head pounded. He stumbled towards home with a warm floaty feeling that he couldn't entirely attribute to the alcohol, absently licking his lips.

SHIONxxxxxMORI Shion's eyes widened as the two's lips locked, then gently fluttered shut as she melted into Kaito's embrace, for however fleeting it was. Her mind raced, and heart raced even faster; the drunken flush that stained her cheeks was now a full blush. Shion was overcome by the momentary bliss so much, that she could not help but giggle. Yes, Shion. Not a laugh, not a chuckle... A giggle. Unfortunately, momentary was all that it would be as Kaito pulled away from the heavenly lip-lock. "um... okay," she would breathlessly say to herself.
Damnit, Shion, that's two for two! Honestly, you shouldn't rush these things. Like... you dont even know his name! And now you're stuck in a crush with no way to... hello. A small glint of metal caught Shion's attention. It appeared that in his rush, Kaito left his badge. Perfect! That same, rosy feeling flooded Shion once more as she scooped up the badge and ran off to the side of the back office that served as her room in a giddy rush. All she had to do was act like she was dropping off documents and returning the badge. No biggie. Even she cant mess this up. But that would have to wait for tomorrow.

A stack on invoice receipts, checks written out to various distributors, a logbook with pages that have been turned more times than the steering wheel of a race car. Dating may have been trial and error and an attack on the village may be for exciting, but this was a dullness she was well rehearsed in by now. Long into the night, Shion went to work as she slowly chipped away at various managerial duties.
Takao still had some blood on his knuckles from the owl bear invasion of earlier, but he couldn't quite be bothered to deal with it. The merchant had noticed when he escorted the unhappy man back to his family, so he genuinely felt it went unnoticed next to his gleaming personality and toothy grin. He entered the Rev Room for the first time and beelined to the bar counter, taking a seat at the stool with a heavy exhale.
He just wanted to relax after the weirdly gory day he'd just had.
"Yo," he said to the bartender who's back was to him. "I'll take uhhhhhhhhh an old-fashioned." He had little preference for alcohol so long as it got him a little light-headed, but he had a bit of a hankering for citrus and didn't want to outright ask for orange juice at a bar like a chump. Though, there was some sickness going around in the housing district and he was not a fan of the flu, so maybe he should work on his vitamin-intake. "Uh, an extra orange slice or whatever you're gonna put in there, please." He took a moment to look around, hoping no patron was paying attention to his kinda weird order.

SHIONxxxxxMORI The little girl behind the counter cocked a brow at the man's order. Add orange slices? He didn't know what an old fashioned was, did he? "Sure thing, bud." Mae replied, a thick air of condescension floating around her words. She'd produce the ingredients for the man's drink, tossing a bottle of whiskey, a glass, and an orange. Glass clanged against glass as the bartender poured out a quick drizzle of whiskey. She then slowly, and very purposefully, began to peel the orange, eyeing the rinds as they fell into the cup. "One old fashioned... extra slices" she'd say, shoving the drink to Takao.
The door to the rave flew open, sending the bell-ringer into a flurry of chimes. "Hold that thought," Mae would say, turning away from her lone patron towards the door. "Hey, there's my favorite coup... ooooh" Her spry tone quickly soured as she laid eyes on Shion, entering the bar solo. "Shut up, Mae. Pour me a darn drink."Her words were soft, barely a mumble. Shion trudged her way over to the bar, taking a seat near the other occupant, and shot a burning glare at Mae. Today was the worst day ever and all Shion wanted to do was find comfort in the warm embrace of inebriation; goodness knows she wasn't getting it from any people tonight.
Maybe a minute later, she'd find that relief as a glass of some neon glowing liquid was slid her way. "Here you go... I, um... I'm gonna take off. Bar's pretty dead with all the commotion tonight. Take care, Shion. Call me if you need anything." Mae stammered, giving her boss a pat on the shoulder as she rounded the bar to leave. Mae knew there was nothing she could do to comfort Shion... not when she got like this. The best thing to do was just give her some space. She'll be in a talking mood tomorrow. The bell chimed once more with Mae's exit, and the bar fell silent again. Well, silent except for the sound of a quick glug and the clattering of glass on counter top.
Takao didn't care for the bartender's tone but he did care for a drink, so he shut up and took a generous sip while a woman - Shion - entered the bar with evident unhappiness. He was going to mind his own business, as was the etiquette at a bar. After all, everyone was drinking away their own demons, why would they want a drunk therapist getting in the middle of it?
Still, he found himself eyeing the strange drink Shion ordered and his curiosity was starting to get the better of him. He looked at her from the side of his eye but he was sure it wasn't subtle as he mouth fell open and closed a few times - what did he want to say to her?
He had no experience talking to women and they were so confusing to him. Damn it, man, think!"So... owlbears get the best of you?" He tried to sound light-hearted about it. Not too long after Takao finally gotbthe nerve to engage with her, Shion leaned over the bar and grabbed a random collection of bottles, laying them out in front of her. "Been dealing with monsters all week, dude. She'd say rather bluntly as she ran her finger along the lineup of bottles. After two or three, she'd settle on a plain bottle of vodka. With a quick spin of her thumb, the bottle would be popped and tilted into her mouth. As Shion took her impressively long, or frighteningly depending on how you look at it, swig of her new drink, Matatabi would chime in once more. *Dont lose sight. Keep an eye on him until I can figure out his deal.* Shion finally removed the bottle from her mouth, letting a deep pop echo. As a satisfied breath escaped her lips, so too did a mental message beaming across the bijuu network. *Oh trust me, I could look at this one all day.*
He felt bad about his approach with her curt response, though he didn't take it personally as she downed an insane amount of alcohol without flinching. Damn, he needed to never challenge her to a drinking contest. "Er, yeah, I guess Arashigakure has been facing a lot of threats, huh?" He shut himself up by finishing off his drink. He was going to just leave her be, except her heard her comment on his appearance and turned back to her with wide eyes.
"Kind of getting mixed messages here," he joked with a smile. "But I'll take my compliments where I can get them. You're definitely not hard to look at," he appraised as his eyes fell appreciatively on her red hair.
The noise in his head grew louder, and he actually groaned as he put a hand up to the side of his head. "Man, what is up with that roaring in my head? I've got a killer headache..."

SHIONxxxxxMORI Shion was nursing another swig of her bottle when Takao quipped back with his compliment. To say Shion's reaction was anything but subtle would be an understatement. A flustered sputter of vodka splashed onto the bar as Shion beat her chest in an attempt to catch her breath. "What?!? I... oh man, uh... you heard that? Ah shoot...wait...You heard that!" Embarrassment turned to intrigue and Shion hopped over thr chair directly beside the man. His head hurt? He heard her? *Matatabi, take a look a little deeper,* Shion would broadcast in another unguarded message. Something about her voice... the way she spoke was like a scientist on the verge of breakthrough, but also oddly giddy; the look of raw elation on her face didnt help. *Interesting... greetings, Chomei. It's been a while.*
It was looking like Shion had had too much to drink if she wasn't aware she was talking aloud. He was about to say as much when he heard her talk to Matatabi, but her lips weren't moving. "What the hell? Are you a Yamanaka or something?" He stood up from the bar, feeling his head pound. He didn't like that nothing was making sense anymore.
As he rose to his feet though, the noise in his head got painfully worse until he heard something clear as day. "Matatabi, it greeted warmly. "Far too long. I had not yet revealed my presence to my vessel Takao, though he had at once used a sensing technique to discover me."
"I thought I was doing it wrong," he defended himself instinctively. Then his mind reeled over what just occurred. "Hold on! What the hell is going on? Who are you, what is this? Am I under an illusion or something?" His head felt stuffy and light at the same. He was dizzy, backing up though he had no idea where he was going. "I- I am not- I- a jinchuuriki? I couldn't... I don't have any seals, I- I wouldn't..."
"He is not as bright as my last vessel so he is likely not a threat, though it appears he may pass out." And just like that, Takao found himself falling backwards into blackness.

Her vision went fuzzy and her legs buckled as she lost balance, falling flat on her face. *I understand. I am in a very similar situation, as you can see. She is... a challenge, but we make it work." A groan escaped the downed girl as she regained her bearings. Shion pulled herself up to her knees, gripping her head as she nursed a steadily growing bump. "You know I'm still here, right?" A knowing snicker echoed through her skull. "Of course you do. Whatever. Hey dude, c'mon. We can talk about -- oh..."
Shion looked down to see the blacked out Takao laying on the floor. Crap. She quickly darted her eyes around the room, searching desperate to find some sort of immediate answer; there had to be something to get him back up. She found nothing. Alright. Plan B. Staggering to her feet, Shion hoisted Takao up over her shoulder, dragged him through the back office, kicked her way through the sea of dirty clothes that littered the floor, and slumped the man onto the bed. Now all she had to do was wait for him to come to... however long that is. In the mean time, might as well watch some cartoons or something.
Takao woke up in a strange bed, smelling something that was not the odd incense that filled his house. He groaned as he sat up, putting a hand on his pounding head. He didn't open his eyes yet, the sharp pain behind his temple warning him against it. "Ugh, I gotta quit drinking," he lamented aloud.
"I think that would be wise."
Takao froze. That wasn't an outside voice. That was echoing clearly in his head. "U-uhm," he tried to articulate aloud only to feel some sort of internal sigh in his mind.
"Takao, you need to be more careful. I have let you wreck your body for this long with your stupid antics but it is imperative that you pull your act together."

A complicated emotion floated in his mind. It was as if his mind was seeing a memory in peripheral vision, something filled with pain - torture - regret and forcefulness and begging and - "It is irrelevant," Chomei corrected sharply, projecting the thought. Takao flinched at it, opening his eyes slowly to see Shion's room.
He turned his head to see her, a confused look on his face. "So, uh... being a jinchuuriki is kind of a trip."

SHIONxxxxxMORI Takao's little moment of self-discovery would be cut short by the loud clanging of spoon to bowl and the crunching of marshmellows and cereal giving way under teeth. "Dont worry, it get's easier," Shion would mumble through a mouthful of cereal. As Takao turned to face her, he'd see no trace of the sulking girl who drank him under the table. Shion's hair, usually kept in a sloppy ponytail, hung freely around her shoulders. In place of her punky outfit was a sloppily buttoned up pair of cat-face covered pajamas that threatened to reveal a little too much should a button or two threaten to go rogue. Her feet were propped up on her desk -- at least that was the same, though she took great care not to disturb the figmas that littered her desk. "You just gotta find some common ground. Make friends or something." She spoke, tilting her head in the direction of the other host, but keeping her eyes locked on the cartoon that lit up the TV across from her.
