When Satoshi mentioned the children at school teasing him for his interests, a deep anger resonated in the base of her throat and she had to fight herself not to outright growl at the table. Who dared-?
She leaned back carefully, focusing on her breathing as Toso took over the conversation. She willed herself not to be angry at the ignorance of children who did not yet know the force of nature that Kameyo was and the sheer power she was willing to exert on those who hurt her loved ones.
When things kept turning back to god, she opted to pitch in. "Yes, strength alone is not a metric for god. Like Toso said, it is important to consider who believe in this 'god'. It is not so much strength but, maybe, genjutsu that could help you achieve godhood," she said lightly as a woman who neither believed nor feared any semblance of god. Perhaps that was the kind of wiggle-room or comfort an immortal could possess, or perhaps it was simply the kind of simple world view that allowed her to feel no qualms about her immoral actions in the past and her arguably decent ones of the present. Someone who didn't believe in the afterlife and who had multiple hearts was entitled to treat the world as one with only minor, immediate consequences instead of hell-bound eternities of torture.
"I would be careful about that concept of knowing what will happen. I made a lot of good money as a young lass by pretending to be psychic; it is damn easy to convince people of what they want to hear. Besides, if you believe in fate, you believe in pre-destination, that you are either heaven- or hell-bound at birth and nothing you do can change that. I like to think we are agents of control in our own lives, but... sometimes, I also think coming to Arashigakure was not a choice and was instead of fate, too, so... I guess these small delusions are of no real consequence so long as you don't shell out ryo to hear about them." She had risen from her seat to place a kiss on Toso's shoulder as he finished up the dishes, feeling affectionate in her stupidly romantic ramblings that she would NEVER admit to having outside of their home. She had a reputation to uphold, after all.
"You'd better believe you're fated to be a good person who treats their friends well, is all I think we need to instill in you. If you don't find people you can rely on, you really have nothing at all in this world." The sentiment was good but the delivery was a little dark, though she thought nothing of it as she waited to see if Toso would reveal what was genuinely off-limits for the little squirt.
Toso would smile tiredly but warmly after Kameyo's peck. "Controlling universes, why that depends on what you classify as a universe. For example." Toso would turn around and from the fridge a drawing, one Satoshi had made in his youth that while some kids his age would consider embarrassing now would be something of a fond memory for a paternal figure. The mans tentacle tapped on it. "You could say this drawing in of itself is a universe. You add to it, you give the drawings personalities in your head, you think about what they'd possibly do. So similarly in a sense, lets say you ask your friend to do something as a favor. Well, that was you that asked them, and they are part of the universe and by proxy you just controlled the universe as they never would have reacted in whatever way they did without you first being a part of it bloop." Toso would withdraw his tentacles then look at Satoshi.
As far as choices and what's already written Satoshi. Think of it just like a book. Yes, something is written in that book, but there are hundreds if not thousands of books to be read, and the one that chooses what book to read in the end..is you. bloop. Someone else could choose the book for you but at that point it's also your choice whether you want to read it or not." He'd then look at Kameyo. "and not all books should be read. Like that trashy romance novel Kame-chan reads that I'm not shy about telling her that is absolute garbage bloop, but its ultimately her decision that she wants to read it." He didn't need to say the title. Kameyo knew the one and that's all that mattered.
"Then there are one's that are just nonsense." Toso would remove the 'Abyssal Script' from his garment. One the front cover was what appeared to be a symbol of runic nature that shifted. As Toso flippantly waved it around the eye...seemed to adopt motion and then stare at Satoshi. Whispers filling the boys head the room slightly darkening that only he could see and hear but at the same time couldn't be made out as any language. Those with feeble and simple minds typically experienced such when looking at the book. This was why Nohr specifically told Toso that it belonged in the secure hands of an Endai Hojo whose heads were often filled with its own form of aloof static or where it was originally...the bottom of the ocean. "but this is why only empty-headed uncles can read these." Satoshi's question was answered by proxy as the Abyssal Script vanished into Toso's ever shapechanging garment. "That said you'll be late for your appointment at this rate Satoshi." if ever his interest was piqued about the book that his uncle possessed he'd likely get very little answers from his uncle himself. But maychance one day he'd think of finding this 'Nohr' person...but it may have been likely he'd already met the man. 'Nohr'Mahl Hooman' the man who ran Ika-Shokuji's kitchen in his uncle's stead"
▱▰▱When Kameyo began stirring in her seat Satoshi became worried that she was getting frustrated with him. However, her soft words that followed dismissed his concern entirely. When she spoke of genjutsu, his ears pricked up from piqued interest. As someone who spent a portion of his childhood on a secluded genjutsu island, he understood the power of belief, but to hear it articulated by a grownup was perspective-changing. Satoshi somewhat tuned out her comments that were intended to prevent him from being scammed. He had no need for a psychic after looking through the Lens of Fate and listening to Yatagarasu. However, her final point about treating friends well made him smile softly. "It's not like I have a choice." Satoshi felt very clever after sharing his joke in response to Kameyo.
His smile grew when Toso started referencing one of his drawings to him. He supposed that it was true to some extent that all people could be gods of their own universes. But maybe it was a combination of factors, like having enough people believe in it and a space in which to control. Whether that be a universe as small as a drawing or as great as an empire. This combination of Toso and Kameyo's perspectives was proving to be quite informative. When Toso showed him the abyssal script he became interested in it. He stared back at the eye that twisted and darkened the room. His fixation was ended abruptly by Toso putting the script away. He figured that if Toso thought it would be a poor idea for him to read it then the subject was better left unaddressed going forward but he still could not shake the intrigue associated with such a cryptic item. Before he could respond, Toso reminded him of his appointment. His jaw dropped for he had certainly forgotten about it during breakfast and the conversation. Satoshi hopped up from the table and scurried off to get changed. "Bloooooooooooooooop!" He yelled as he charged toward his room to change and the bathroom to get ready. Once he was all set, Yogen flew onto his shoulder and he hurried to the door. As he ran past the kitchen he would yell out again. "I'll be back for lunch!" Satoshi then ran out the front door but slowed to a walk once he crossed a few blocks. He now had the hospital in his sights.

If only Satoshi knew. If only the dear boy knew that ahead of him on this path was at least one emotionally unhinged menace in full swing of a culinary shopping spree. A canvas bag full of noisy, fragrant spoils of the marketplace was being airily swung as a preoccupied Unki was jibber-jabbing away with Shion about what sort of toppings were totally necessary for cup of hot chocolate. It was still considerably early in the day that it might come to a wonder as to when the duo began shopping? Shopping for supper preparations?
At any rate, Unki's happy bag swinging wasn't completely in touch with either her or Shion. Their engaging conversation was making sure to hook their attention on anything but the shuffling bag of goodies that within a couple swings later, a large wooden potato masher went soaring. Unki's swing must have been something! The wooden masher went a flying like it was a helpless kitchen tool desperate to escape and avoid the wild women's company and sleep deprived conversation about hot drinks! Whee! Aside from being terribly hilarious that she swung her bag too hard and something flew out, Unki could only muster some snort of a laugh before shouting, "Oh no! P-potato" in the face of her mistake.
One wooden masher was certain to cross Satoshi's path somehow or another.
▱▰▱Once Satoshi left his house and walked a couple of blocks he daydreamed about the abyssal script that Toso had mentioned. Yogen remained perched on his shoulder and playfully nipped his beak in the knots of Satoshi's hair. He thought about what fascinating secrets it might hold within. Once he reached a block that was in closer proximity to the hospital he noticed that Unki and Shion were walking down the street. As he lifted his hand to wave at them his eyes narrowed on a wooden object falling out of her bag. The lad instinctively caught it as it nearly flew over him. His short arms actually managed to catch the item after he performed a small jump. Once it was settled in his hands he ran up to them and placed it back in Unki's bag. "Here ya go!" Satoshi yelled out as adrenaline still ran through his blood. The mild excitement managed to neutralize some of his morning grogginess. He was unsure what it was that he caught but simply stood and smiled shyly in the moments after his masher rescue.

"Thank you! Ahaa. I got too caught up in how funny that was. The little masher might'a split if you hadn't caught it." Unki spoke, seemingly gigglier than what might seem like her usual self. The lack of sleep was actually starting to get to her. The woman turned her head and cast a cheesy grin to Shion, "he's an acrobat, huh" where she giggled and snickered like an addled party animal.
Unki cupped her mouth and chin with her hand. She leaned and whispered to Shion. "What's his name again? I can't remember!" She "Ahhh. I didn't know Toto-chan, er- Toso-chan was molding you into a little acrobat! "Unki said as she tried to mimic Toso's famous wobble of his rubbery limbs, with her arms and shoulders, and shook the spoils of shopping along with. "Then again," She said, soberly pondering the art of flexible acrobatics. "I don't think you're as rubbery as I've been mislead to think..." She swung the shopping bag wildly together with an avid shrug of her arms and shoulders. Gave up. "Oh well," she sang along with one sudden, drowsy, stoop forward. "You don't have to be rubbery to be cute," Unki's swiftly answers her impulse with the first, daring attempt to pinch the boy's cheek.
