Title: Bonds
Information: Call it friendship, call it camaraderie, call it a legal obligation. The nurturing of relationships is one of the most fruitful types of narrative. Helping a friend out in a kitchen, helping keep their business alive, being there for them after a bad break up, building new friendships...building new rivals...building new nemesis's. Confronting those nemesis's and exchanging conflicting beliefs in fierce wholehearted heated debate and getting to know the other through their opposition on a new level.
Every paragraph made strengthening an existing relationship with an rpc, rewards XP equal to one's body rank plus [1], maximum . Those interacted with may also be considered to be running this narrative with you albeit their posts are separate from your own. The narrative is considered completed once the parties part ways for another day.
It had been a joke at first, but Kagerou could tell how the question changed over time. At first, purely amusement. Then, the vague shadows of concern colored Takeda's ever changing eyes. Kagerou couldn't hold back the mischievous grin as she, herself, found amusement at Takeda's hesitation. However, she didn't do anything with the jokes that ran through her head.
Instead, she assured, "No, you're fine. We're outside, so I'm just going to use eiseijutsu." She pulled her hand back to take off her gloves. Because Takeda would be keeping his shirt and bandages on, she would need her sense of touch to replace as much of what her eyes would have done. Ungloved, her hands weaved the signs to cast Diagnosis, then they lifted up to press down upon the wound on Takeda's shoulder with gentle, insightful touches that would always pull back just right before the pain from their pressure would really become something that hurt. It wasn't long before Kagerou got a good grasp of what she was handling, and her hand lifted from the open wound to cast the healing hands technique and proceed to hover over the injury while she guided the ninja magic to do its trick.
It was in this lull of activity that Kagerou spoke up again. Her face illuminated by the green glow of her chakra and eyes remaining focused on Takeda's shoulder, she commented, "Thank you... For trying to continue that connection you had with Jack-sensei. Hearing you talk about him, it sort of feels like that bond was your biggest reason for staying in the village.". She paused, raising her scarlet eyes, tinted green by the light of her chakra, from Takeda's shoulder to meet his eyes. Still healing even after the pause, she continued, "It... wasn't fair of me to jump to conclusions when I knew almost nothing about you. I'm sorry, I should have known better. I just... never thought combat could be way for two people to come closer. It also wasn't fair of Inka-sama, even hypocritical of him, to take his frustration out on you. You must have been disappointed when you realized that Inka couldn't live up to your ideals, but at the same time, if you don't mind my opinion on the matter, it seemed like Inka also wanted to form a bond with you. He just messed up this time, but that happens. No one is perfect. Everyone has their weaknesses. You're right that it's not your responsibility to worry about someone else's issues. You're not their therapist or counselor, but I bet, even though he might not admit it, Inka would also like another shot at forming that connection with you."

Takeda slowly relaxed when Kagerou started to touch his wounded shoulder. The pain didn't bother him, but he needed to slowly unfurl the tendrils holding the wound closed so that she could heal him without issue. He started doing it just enough so that she could get an idea of how severe it was, then fully cooperated once he noticed her activate the "healing hands" technique.
The closeness was foreign to him, so he tried to look anywhere but her face. "'It's nothing." He responded shortly in response to her thanks. There was more to it, but he had a feeling that there were still words left unsaid. Yup, there it is. Takeda thought, knowing that she wouldn't let the silence settle in there. Not wanting to be rude, he decided to return her gaze rather than avoid eye contact the whole time. He had to swallow his embarrassment, but it wasn't beyond him. The words she said rang true to him and listening instead of immediately retorting gave him some new insight. He tried to find the right words when she finished, but he couldn't think of anything that didn't make him sound like a fool.
"I feel like what you just said about Inka to me is exactly what someone could've said about me to Jack. I'm the hypocrite here too, now that I think about it. I can't even imagine how many mistakes I made under his care. How many times he'd probably have to consider throwing me out into the street but didn't. I'm acting too unforgiving for no reason. I'm not going to sit here and say that I forgive him for everything since a guy in his position shouldn't be saying the same things that I would a few years ago, but I'm also not going to act like I'm not in the wrong here at all. I'll talk to him later." It would've been easy to bask in the opportunity to talk about how wrong Inka was while ignoring his issues, but he couldn't look away once he saw things for what they truly were.
"Also, you were a reason why too. I may have been getting ready to leave, but I couldn't do it without regrets if it meant leaving you behind. You've been a good friend, probably a better one than I deserve. I lived with Shadow longer, but we didn't talk, and neither of us tried to fix that. You tried to make things work with two annoying people like us, and it had an impact. You'll still pay for sitting on my sword, though." He ended his little spiel with a joke, to hopefully not sit on the topic for too long. He still wasn't used to saying such nice things.

Kagerou smiled up at Takeda, scarlet eyes silently saying, "If you know, then you know." She got the cue, and like a good performer, she started playing to the beat her audience wanted, "Pfffft. Better get in line then, Takeda. You think you're the only person whose got qualms about the way I sit in on fights?". The green light surrounding her hands faded and Kagerou stepped away from her newly healed patient, shaking out her hands as she did so. "Anyways, let's get going now," she insisted, turning her body to face the direction they would be headed and nodding in said direction. Once she got a sign out of Takeda that showed he was ready, she walked alongside him to Takumi.
The journey was mostly uneventful, and rather leisurely. As there was a time limit but Inka had the foresight of a good kage to give his shinobi plenty of time to get to the scheduled meeting on time, there was no reason for the two young shinobi to rush. They got there, got some extra time for Kagerou to do some shopping (and pester Takeda into some of his own since this was a rare opportunity), and got to the meeting on time.
Turtle was nowhere to be seen, but by the time Kagerou and Takeda showed up to the meeting, all three of the performers they were to escort were present and ready. After glancing in Takeda's direction to gauge his willingness (or unwillingness in this case) to speak, she stepped up as the higher ranked of the two. "A pleasure to meet you. We're the shinobi from Kiri who will escort you." Tactfully, she kept mum on the topic of Turtle, respecting that there may have been a change in decision or something else had been arranged in advance. Neither was something she had to know when she knew so little about him anyways.
The responses from the performers were terse and, for lack of a better adjective, generic. After some formalities and a brief exchange of information between the two parties, they were on the way with Takeda taking point, as the only apparent guard, and Kagerou mingling with the rest of the performers, pulling out a biwa from who knows where with the biggest smile. She just looked so happy.
