hi, everyone! this seems like a nice place to chill in. 3nodding I've come a long way from the angsty emo teen I was when I joined in 05. back then I mostly did stuff with my irl friends from school. I stopped coming once one of them died and we all slowly drifted apart. rejoined again in the 2010s, but it didn't stick for some reason.
these days, I just need an escape from reality. I rejoined earlier this week and have been hanging out in the CB just because of the zero commitment fun lol.
irl I work from home on a small team and finally have a job that I really enjoy. I've been married for almost 14 years, and we finally bought a house last year. I also kicked cancer's a** a couple years ago.
it's safe to say I'm a VERY different person than I was when I first joined gaia. but the cool thing about being here is I know I'm not alone. heart

I have my own problems, but a stable income from a job that doesn't leave me triggered every day isn't one of them. remembering where I came from helps me be kinder and more patient with others too.

Home Box Office MAX Dumpster Jedi Hello, Everyone! I'm Dumpster Jedi, and I've been on gaia since November '03. I spent the majority of my years on gaia in the chatterbox, and I've had many accounts over the years. I'm a SAHM of four minions, and I've been with my partner for 16 years now. I love playing video games, and coming on here when I get a chance to dress up my avi. :gu_dumb: hell yeah! i've been w/ my partner for around that long, if not that long.
i might be making a singular-focused discord just for voice chat including gaming sometime but seeing how this pans out first. what do you like to play? I mostly play on the switch. My favourites on there are any Zelda game, Mario maker, Tales of symphonia, and I play a lot of the vintage games on the switch online. I also play on the Ps4/5 every so often as well. On there I mostly Play Red Dead redemption 2, The WWE games, and Final fantasy. How about you?

Hello, hello. I-
Oh wow, the posting interface here feels very old.
-haven't been on on Gaia since 2014, but I've been here since 2008. I'm back because another forum I was on implemented something I don't quite agree with, and decided to leave over. Only saw by chance that it's possible to regain access to your account (I thought the inactivity deactivations were accounts being hacked), and figured why not.
I enjoy video games, anime, and manga, and my hobbies are creative writing and media analysis. I'm mostly a retro gamer, mostly playing games from the Super Famicom to the Playstation 2 for consoles, and the Gameboy to the Vita for handhelds. I have a strong preference towards handhelds (likely attributed to the N64 being my first console; no JRPGs on that thing until 2001, as opposed to the myriad on the GBC), but we're technologically advanced enough that all of those are handhelds, haha. For anime and manga, I prefer lower stakes stuff, though I still really liked Chainsaw Man (...or at least the Gun Devil stuff; not a fan of what came after), and am watching Space Runaway Ideon. It's funny how you hear about how dark it is, but then the first 11 episodes (all I've seen so far) are pretty standard mecha.
My writing style is melancholic, and I pretty exclusively deal in slower scenes. I near-exclusively write short stories, because I'd burn myself out again if I do anything longer. As for media analysis...I just enjoy analyzing things, I suppose. Thinking about what a work is really saying, instead of what's on the surface. It lets me gain a deeper appreciation of the things I like, or gain a deeper understanding of why I don't like something/think it's bad.

It lets me gain a deeper appreciation of the things I like, or gain a deeper understanding of why I don't like something/think it's bad. that's really cool! i hacked my Vita with a guide widely available and loaded that sucked up with everything from NES/famicon to... well, VITA, minus some of the more powerful home consoles of that era, which i have a pretty new PC i use for those.
i got big love for classic gaming, and gaming in general!
i'm also a writer by trade!
I also love media analysis!
Glad to have you here!

Hello! I'm a 41-year-old nonbinary/genderfluid mother of twins. (For the moment, they are six years old. They are adorable, but exhausting.) I have AuDHD, fibromyalgia, and a host of other conditions that gave me the fibro that aren't worth listing in detail. That said, I am also a writer and an artist, and I'm working to rebalance my life in the wake of my diagnosis (which helps me understand my difficulties but also means I know a lot more about what's going on with me in a sometimes stressful way).
I'm looking forward to having intelligent conversations with other adults. heart

Henbit Lol it's been so long since I posted anything in guilds. xd gaia_demonduck Hi everyone! it's funny - i never really did lol
i just thought it was a nice idea since so many of us are older, to sort of congregate in one place. i'm glad to see folks interested
i know it may be a sort of transient experience of a lot of folks coming back and leaving, but i figure hey, at least this makes it a little more curated
