Voluntarist vs Involuntarist

Okay, after re-reading this, I think I understand what I didn't before.



If you had control over your beliefs then I could just suddenly tell myself to believe in god, and I would: Voluntarism.

But I can't because I haven't been convinced there's a god, so I have no control over what I believe because my beliefs are based off what I know. I can no more chose to believe in a god than to chose to see blue as red, pain as pleasure, or anger as happiness.

So, if I'm following this right. Then I do think I am now an Involuntarist. I think.

Personally, I lean more towards involuntarist. If you can actively choose, then is it what you truly believe?

I'm a little confused. Especially from people's posts. If we all chose to be atheist at some point, aren't we voluntary? Even with Dathu's explanation, this is confusing as hell. (hurr hurr)
I can't vote yet, because I don't get it.

Try re-reading the link. But to be honest, I'm still not positive. Oh, the deep complexity of our threads.
