Get this straight: I appreciate constructive criticism that helps me at some degree, and I admit I do get extremely offended on certain sensitive topics...

lol now you know why I only post one pic at a time and rarely post at all *nods* *nods*

What are you calling me conservative?! I'd get mad at you if you weren't so right...

*goes off and sulks badly*

I seem to get people really mad these days.

WHY AM I SUCH A BIG JERK?!

Control your temper and show some maturity. All we are trying to do is help you...and if you would direct yourself to the topic of your thread, you asked for our opinion and crits.

No had no reason to blow up at Phishy Fish, and if you act like that IRL, how are you going to handle going to art college? ( if that's where you're headed)..or really..anywhere else?

Criticism is a part of life. Intelligent and constructive crits help immensely. If you keep barking at people just for trying to help, you are going to get nowhere.

That's all I'm saying.

@ Garkudion

People keep treating me like I'm a kid.

I can still be mature and accept criticism, it's just that I believe that everyone has sensitive spots, Garkudion. Anyways, I had actually posted some more bad things about her, but then realized that I was acting childish and deleted them (or editted them). I still had to get my point across.

What's the point in just accepting short criticism? I believe the best kind of criticism is the kind you can't argue with. If Phishy Fish comes up with a good argument against my idea that anatomically correct drawings are alright, then I'm fine-- I'll be totally ok with what she said.

People like you make me think about how Internet Chatting is so pointless.

Art College and Talking/Critiqing Art Online is totally different.

I respect my art teachers like they are goddesses or something, and they usually explain what I did wrong in a more make-sense sort of way. I accept their criticism and move on.

What I don't like is when my peers start criticising parts of art that don't seem to make sense-- like, why are they criticising THAT part of my art? I'll accept it if they have a reasonable argument.

If you accept every other criticism that comes your way, then you've got problems. Some people are no good at spotting good or bad points in your art, and most of them are wrong about things (they think that the space between your eyes and your hairline is a third of your face, for example, when it's actually a half). By accepting 'bad' criticism, gullible artists can get 'worse. Artists need a built in mechanism that tells them that the criticism is right or wrong.

And if you're not sure about it, like, you've never thought about that mistake before, you go and consult your art teacher (if you have one).

I know what you are going to say: That by posting this I am acting more childish. I am not acting childish. I am just trying to tell you my point of view on criticism, what is good, what is bad, and what should or should not be ignored.

Everyone has their limits: everyone's human and imperfect. There is no such thing as the 'perfect' artist. I'm just saying that I'm not getting mad at the criticsm, more on how the criticsm stereotypes anime. Since I hate stereotypes, my first instinct was to backfire on her comment.

Of course, this ended up sounding like I was accusing her of bad criticism, which was not the case.

I apologize if you were desperately confused about the whole ordeal, Garkudion, but I guess I was a bit on a short temper that day. I know it is no excuse, but some things happened that just totally ruined my day, this is an internet community where I don't know anyone personally, and I just did not want to deal with restraining my temper.

I am sorry, Phishy Fish.

I am sorry Garkudion, for acting childish and disrupting the Academy with my rudeness.

Do you suggest I withdraw membership, or just go to lurking for a while as punishment?

You'd make a great journalist. You're quite sarcastic.

I would have at least asked why P. Fish thought what she thought instead of blasting her right off the bat AND posting two more "mean" messages about her. I never told you to accept the criticism, but there is such a thing as being civil and using reason. I of all people understand the idiocy of the art world out there, believe me, a lot of people have come across my work with harsh words, or incomplete critiques, but that's why I go back and ask what they mean. Maybe they have a point? Most likely they don't if they're rude, but there is always a possibility and there is also no harm in asking.

From what you say, you sound very hot blooded. You are probably going to go very far with all of that determination, however you'll never perfect your technique if you keep getting mad at people for saying things you may not like. Are you going to blast your superiors for saying " I don't really like this..we want you to change this and that because-" ( speaking as a concept artist) , are you going to get mad and yell at them too? You'd be out of a job!

Short temper or not, it doesn't count in the real world when you randomly explode at people who really don't deserve it. Sure you may not know her personally, but you wouldn't know the online teachers in an Art personally either, or someone overseas reviewing your work. It counts to be professional, Okiyami.

No, I'm not confused. It's very clear how you come across and you might consider thinking about what you say before you say it. I've seen some of the crits you give and you obviously know what make certain works better, but it doesn't seem like you know how to treat people when it comes to your own art.

We all have bad days, I understand that. But damn! You ranted on in this huge message the first post after her comment, the posted not one, but TWO other bubbles of God knows what..since it was apparently " so mean that I had to delete it".

Your last statement was childish rolleyes . I'm not suggesting you withdraw membership or lurk at all. Where the heck did you get that? I would suggest zapping the "possibility for pity" statement out of your argument, but I don't suggest you leave or lurk. You have an eye for good art based on your critiques, and it would be a shame for you to go.
