Rellik San xLIZA I think Bass started with the fact the song sucks as both a cover and a piece of music on the whole, but backed it up with the argument that good bands with even the slightest spark of creativity shouldn't feel the need to cover a song, and should instead try and at least attempt originality.
Do I win? Your arguing against me? lol What do you think. Cover versions are what makes music great, after all, are we supposed to sit back and beleive the best version of a song is that which is the first version made? Is the Spunge version of Centrefold, not better to dance to then the G J Jiles Band version?
Yes, yes I am. O:
Nothing shits me more than going to see a band play the song's they've written that I love and have them play awful live covers of songs by bands they'll never be as good as. Except maybe, idiot teenagers worshipping a screechy imitation of a great song by the latest fad act. (Note: I'm referring to the Way/McCracken cover of the Bowie/Mercury song with that last one)
I get that they're 'all in good fun', but I don't see why a band can't have fun with their own songs instead of trying to leech popularity from an old hit.
I can honestly say I've never heard a cover I've truly believed was better than the original.

Then you've been listening to the wrong bands, usually most harcore bands in the UK will do a hardcore version of something silly for an opener and then play their own stuff, and punk bands, will play covers as more to show what sort of music they like and too have a little fun, but only for an encore. I've been to a lot of gigs and thats my experiance.

Rellik San --
Ohmygosh! I see why you're kinda ticked that he dissed your song and won't leave you alone about it, but whoa, whoa, whoawhoawhoa..
Bassmule --
Ohmygosh again to you. Whoa, whoawhoa. If you don't like the song, don't scream it and keep messing with him. He posted it cause he liked it and wanted to see if others did too.
And Oh, My, God, if this is about Rancid, I have tw-no, three songs for you people.
One:
