(Do you want them to meet while they are walking? Just wondering...)
Malik smiled peacefully to himself as he walked down the city streets. The morning sun was just beautiful. He could tell from the clear pale blue skies that today was going to be a warm day. Maybe this satisfaction would be enough to keep the nightmares away for the day.

((Fine with me. 3nodding )) As Jounouchi walked by a small pet shop, a cute puppy in the window caught his eye. He turned over to the window and looked down at it, smiling at the über cuteness of the little rascal. He tapped on the glass with his finger, laughing when the puppy attempted to pounce at it.

(Aww... how cute!)
He was almost to the restaurant now. He smiled contently, as he walked slowly, absorbing the warm sun on his skin. The sky above him was a clear, pale blue, a sign that the weather would be beautiful today.
The pet store sign was just ahead. "Maybe I should get a cat?" Malik asked himself. Cats were one of the most sacred animals of Egypt, perhaps a cat would horde off whatever spirit had been haunting him. He approached one of the huge windows, staring into them with curious lavender eyes. A small sand colored kitten with jagged black stripes along her face, back and paws, was curled up in a tight ball in the corner of her cage. It stared at Malik with sad and frightened green eyes.
Malik gave a sad smile as he watched it. It was so young, just like he had been. All alone, in this huge scary world... without friends or family.
The Egyptian felt deeply connected to it as he watched it tremble in fear, and he knew he wanted that kitten. He wanted to care for it, and let it experience the love and nurture of a family that he had been denied.

After the puppy gave up trying to catch his hand, Jounouchi turned around to continue walking, but blinked in surprise at the person who was before him, "Malik...?" he asked, wondering if his eyes were playing tricks on him. Not only should Malik have been in Egypt, but it was disturbingly coincidental that he would see him right after that strange vision. He walked up to the figure without even realizing it, "Malik, is that you?"

Malik could hear his voice faintly. Someone was calling him.
The Egyptian turned around to see none other then Katsuya Jounouchi, the impulsive blond friend of Yugi.
"Yea. It is me." Malik said, lavender eyes widened surprised by encounter. "Do you want something?" The Egyptian said, raising a suspicious eyebrow.

Jounouchi blinked, then quickly shook his head, taking a step back with a faint blush, "Ah, no. I was just surprised to see you here." he laughed faintly, "What are you doing back in Domino anyway? Is Rishid with you?"

"Umm no. He is in Egypt with my sister. I'm living in an apartment in downtown Domino." Malik blinked. This was extremely awkward. Since when did Jou give the slightest damn about the Egyptian anyway? He had always seen the quirky blond as the type to hold a grudge, and now, he was just randomly trying to make small talk with the former villain?
My life gets stranger ever day... Malik thought with a sigh. "I'm in Domino because I was bored with my life in Egypt. Isis thought it'd be a nice remedy to come back here and meet up with some old... 'friends'."

"Oh, I see." Jounouchi replied, "We, you should've told us you were in town. I'm sure Yuugi would be happy to see you again." he laughed. Truth be told, Jounouchi wasn't really sure how he found himself so able to forgive Malik after brainwashing him at all. Maybe it had something to do with the other Malik... he was so much worse and just seeing him made surface Malik seem like an angel... Or maybe it was because Jounouchi felt so much respect for Rishid that he felt he should give Rishid's most beloved companion a second chance. Either way didn't really matter. What was important at the moment was that Jounouchi felt he must seem like a moron. Why did he have that feeling? No idea. But he sure did feel like a moron right now.

"He would, would he...?" Malik gave a face that seemed to define disbelieve. "I have a hard time believing those words, Jounouchi-kun."
Jou looked like he was completely lost and confused. He never seemed to be the brightest bunch of the gang, but still Malik had never seem him look this disoriented before. Perhaps it was the amount of awkwardness that the current conversation seemed to emit.
Yet still, it was nice that somebody actually wanted to talk to the Egyptian. His stay here, so far hadn’t been the most pleasant. The Egyptian was so tired of all the people who avoided him in the streets because they recognized him as the ‘psycho’ from Battle City.
No. He couldn’t let the conversation die yet! It’d be nice to have someone other than nightmares as company, even if it was only for these few pitiful minutes of his life. And even if it was with the impulsive blond.
Malik racked his mind, searching for something interesting to say aside from his current feelings of discomfort...
"I'm going to buy a cat." Malik announced, pointing to the sandy kitten in the window.

Jounouchi had been about to question Malik's words of disbelief when his attention was suddenly drawn to the cat the Egyption was pointing to. Jounouchi's disoriented expression soon turned into a grin, "That's a really cute cat!" he said, staring at the little fluffball. He tapped on the window good-naturedly, then laughed as the little cat mewed. He looked back over at Malik, "It kind of reminds me of you." he laughed.

"What?!" Malik could feel his cheeks grow hot with Jou's analysis. "How could that fuzz ball possibly remind you of me?" He shouted defensively, placing two hands on his hips while staring Jou down with those petrifying lavender eyes that demanded for an explanation.
He was extremely perturbed by the fact that Jou was right on par with his statement. And that embarrassed him. Since he didn’t have much else, he at least wanted to keep his pride. And quite frankly, being compared to a cat wasn’t the most dignified observation. What does that stupid blond know about me anyway? the Egyptian thought bitterly. It irritated him intensively that the thick headed teen had managed to figure this out so easily.

Jounouchi shrugged, "Well, the coloring makes it look Egyption." he pointed out matter-of-factly, not suggesting anything about loneliness, then laughed. "At least it's better than being compared to a dog. But anyway, it's a really cute cat. You should definitely get it. Got a name picked out?"

"Not so sure yet." Malik said, letting his guard back down. "I've never had a pet before." He looked at the shop door and then back to Jou, "Do you want to go inside with me?"
(What should the cat's name be? -.-;; Any ideas?)

((Um... gosh, I'm so bad with pet names... XD;; ...Sandy...? sweatdrop )) "Sure thing." Jounouchi grinned, "I wanted to take a look at the other animals anyway." he said stretching, then reached over to the shop door and opened it for Malik.

(That's alright, I'll think of something. Sandy reminds me of the Squirrel in Spongebob though. X3)
"Wow, it's really huge..." Malik said as he walked in the petshop. The store was much bigger than it's outside appearance gave it credit for, and it was filled with aisle after aisle of pet toys, treats and other supplies. There were also tankfuls of colorful fish, rodent cages and even a reptile section that decorated the walls, giving them life.
Malik could feel his internal healing a little at the sight of the young children pressing their noses against the glass fish tanks in awe, laughing when they'd swim back and forth in their tanks. He gave a sad smile as he watched them. Like these young children, he recalled once being able to laugh and smile without a fear in the world. However, those days seemed so distance lately. None of his smiles were true anymore, nothing worth laughing about. His life had become as cold and dark as the tomb he had once protected.
