Tenchi_ Masaki Monom I'm not rich, i just spend it all on my comp. also, i can download it all for free where i go so it don't matter! thats stealiing you should do you best to support the anime market and purchase you! dvds OMG@ Hakubi Ryoko YOu most of the same shows i have! Even Angelic layer!!!!!!!!!!!! wee whee So sue me, i don't care, i don't spend money on it unless i need it, like anything involving washu!

If it's licenced, then it's illegal to DL them, Monom. Fansubs only normally exist where shows aren't licenced - it's a point of honour all fansubbers have. It's what makes fansubs a "grey area" rather than outright piracy. I watch fansubs, but would be happy to get the originals as long as they're intact (e.g. Pioneer's original "Tenchi" as opposed to Toonami's). But no way would I encourage true copyright infringement by approving true piracy of that kind.

Well in terms of Onizuka....I have a friend who has it, so it's like I'm barrowing it anyways.
The new Naruto series isn't licensed so I'm good there...
Bleach is licensed, but the voices are poor.
Gokusen has good dubs so I'm the most guilty there since I don't mind the English voices ^^;;

Ayanami Rei First Child Well in terms of Onizuka....I have a friend who has it, so it's like I'm barrowing it anyways. The new Naruto series isn't licensed so I'm good there... Bleach is licensed, but the voices are poor. Gokusen has good dubs so I'm the most guilty there since I don't mind the English voices ^^;; yeah well as i said you should try to support the companies who sell it purcahse the series that are licenesed and download the ones that arent its the best way to sort it i guess and dont blame the poor voices razz as an excuse for downloading or purhcasing anime its a cheap excuse

I ONLY download the fansubbed ones that are NOT licenced, Heck i wouldn't even take gum from a store when they were just gonna GIVE it to me

Yeah I KNOW that I should be buying the import DVDs....but I'm trying to limit my expenses. I have to save money for food and TWO anime cons within the next two months, not to mention a costume and an alteration to an expensive dress....

Tenchi_ Masaki -.- god you guys make me sick i have very litte money but yeah i still afford to get it all omg am i am the only decent anime fan who would rather buy anime than download it :S I support the cause. However the cause I support happens to fall into the bootleg category since they dont sell what I'm looking for anymore >.<

Because of some countries' complicated laws and a wish to be the ones getting the money locally for the shows, rather than losing out to the parent country. Straight out of Japan is OK in my book, but most Hong Kong stuff falls under the "bootleg" category these days. I deal strictly with fansubs, though, and I do follow their guidelines - I keep them until they're licenced. I only keep them, though, if the licenced copies are ruined (e.g. CardCaptors, instead of Card Captor Sakura - if that came out by itself, I'd keep CCS, as there's nothing wrong with keeping things for yourself as long as you don't profit with money).
