Sybill Trelawney felt comfortable enough to sit at the staff table, as there were only 8 others with her. Looking out at the students, smiling back at the ones who stared at her. She knew they thought she was strange. She expected to teach some of them the value of her art of divination. Carefully stirring her tea, arranging her silverware properly, smiling at the other faculty. "Excellent morning, don't you think?" she asked them. She got an odd look from a couple of them, but Professor McGonagall smiled back at her.

She was momentarily distracted by Trelawney's grinning at the student body. She made a face and stared down at her plate. That woman was entirely too cheerful for a seer. Surely she had seen some terrible things in her visions. Perhaps she was making up for her far-too-serious attitude toward superstitions. Adolfine had noticed the teacher counting her fellow faculty at the table before sitting down. She glanced back at the Ravenclaw girl and began to feel quite fed up with humanity in general. As she usually did when feeling like this, she rose from the table to go and find a quiet spot for herself to get away from annoying people. She grabbed a muffin and her book bag and stalked away from the noise of the Great Hall.

Cre looked around for her friend desperately and guessing that she had either overslept or had suddenlt caught a cold. Sighing and then felling something small and cold touch her finger she looked down at her hand quickly almost jumping back. A sigh of relief left her lips as she noticed it was just her gecko Slithers awake from his nap. How he had managed to get around for so long in Hogwarts and not get squished by anyone (even more so Proffessor Snape) was beyond her but she counted it towards how lucky Slithers was. Finnishing her english muffin and her Orange Juice she slung her hip bag over her shoulder and stood up. Letting Slithers take his usual place on her hand and walking up towards the library; She wasn't going to eat too much this morning. Maybe she might find someone nice to befriend in the library. Often the quieter people were the politest and kindest friends one could have however she truely did doubt meeting a friend this morning. Sylvia was her only true friend that she could think of. She was in all of her classes and thats how they met... Well not really, It was on the Hogwarts express but still.

Moving out of the way so some smaller first years could walk past she smiled down at them noticing the rims of the cloaks; Gryffindor and a Hufflepuff. She was glad that now houses were alot softer on people from other houses. However she wasn't dare game enough to go over to the Slytherin table.

Professor McGonagall looked over the rim of her glasses at the students, keeping an eye on all of them, especially some of the elder Slytherins - troublemakers - and more mischievous younger students. There was no imminent trouble brewing so she took a crumpet from one of the dishes and began buttering it evenly, smiling vaguely at Professor Trelawney as she looked at her. Minerva still thought she was a fraud, but teachers have to keep up a united front or the students will walk all over them.

Cre stopped outside of the large doors that lead entrance to the library; looking around but not looking for anything in particular. Her eyes dimmed slightly and she entered the library nodding a good morning to the librarian and heading off to the "Magical Creatures" section of the library. She knew she wasn't very good at herbology so she didn't really look forward to going; Even more so since she didn't have Sylvia with her. Sylvia was great at all the classes she wasn't... Potions, Herbology, Astronomy, Divination. They always help each other out, evening up their knowledge and learning together was what they had always done. But not today; Today would have to be different. Running a finger along the spines of the thick and heavy books on the bookshelves and grabbing one down. She knew she should be studying for Herbology knowing that it was the weaker of her subject courses but she would probably feel worse if she picked up one that she didn't understand. Taking a seat at one of the tables as Slithers crawled from her arm onto the table and had a short nap. Cre flicked to the title to see what exactly she was reading. Thorns and Horns: A guide to the thorny beasties.

She watched the Ravenclaw girl settle into a seat with her book and sighed. At least, in the library, things were bound to be quiet, even if she wasn't alone. She didn't really feel like reading; she was confident that she was ready for all of her upcoming classes. Bored, she stared out of a window and went over her class schedule again in her mind. She was, of course, looking forward to Defense Against the Dark Arts, but first she would have Herbology to contend with. Perhaps, there would be something to entertain her this year. She watched an owl swoop toward the castle and wondered whether it was carrying an important message for someone. It was unlikely to be for her, as her parents would never send her a message in a way that could be intercepted. She stood up abruptly and pulled her Dark Arts textbook out of her book bag. "May as well do something," she sighed to herself. Sitting down at the far end of the table the other girl was at, she opened her book at the beginning and began to read.

Kat neatly buttered the muffin and listened to the chatter around her. There were so many voices, it was deafening. She smiled at the girl across the table and said, "Too much noise for breakfast if you ask me." The other girl returned the smile and nodded. She introduced herself as Mickey, and Katherine nearly danced in her seat. She had made a friend. Calming herself, she inquired about the girl's trip to school. They chatted warmly over breakfast, comparing notes on classes and familiars. Pleased with one another's company, they vowed to sit together in Herbology.

Minerva finished eating he crumpet and stood up to leave the Great Hall, scanning the assembled students again as she walked. Satisfied that all was as it should be she swept away towards her office as she wasn't teaching this morning. As she entered the almost deserted corridor she smiled to herself. If she had left even five minutes later she would have been caught up in the crush of students going to their first lesson. She slowly began to climb the stairs.

She had read about Knarls for about 3 or four pages before she gave up reading on it. Normally she would have found a more ... interesting creature. Standing up and slightly disgruntalling Slithers from his nap as she pushed in her chair. Closing the book and taking it over to its respective shelf; Reading along the spines and finding where the book was meant to go. Picking up her hip bag from the side of the chair and slinging it over her shoulder. She looked down at Slithers with a smile who just turned his head away from her in protest of her having woken him up. However when she offered her hand down to Slithers to climb up on he still crept up her hand and instead of resting on her should as he normally would her slunked off into her pocket. Oh come now Slithers... You can sleep through Herbology... I might even join in... She really didn't see why Sylvia had liked Herbology by any means. She left the Library as the bell had chimed through the school; echoing down corridors and halls. She sighed and hoped that Proffessors Sprout hadn't prepared the class early. Hurrying down the corridor towards the Green Houses hoping that she could get there in time from the Library.

"Rin, you're going to be late," she thought to herself. But she didn't care much; she was having too much fun. The tops of the trees were starting to turn brown and gold, and she watched the sea of foliage fly by beneath her feet as she whizzed through the air. Her new broom was even better than the last one. She felt its solid wood in her hands and gently directed it toward an open window in the school. She would be in a great deal of trouble if she missed her first class. The light was shining on the waters of the lake. The early morning hours were perfect for a quick wake-up fly around the grounds. She grinned and dove. She loved flying. It was the greatest feeling in the world to be above everything and everyone, to be in control of direction and speed. She was the best flyer in the country, and this year, she would prove it. "I'm going to show the school what I can do."

Professor McGonagall was on the verge of entering her office when she stopped in her tracks. There was a student flying over the greenhouses unsupervised. She directed a stern frown at the culprit and watched her, arms folded.

She was going to wait until the last possible second to head for the classroom. She hated crowds. That was the main thing she disliked about Hogwarts: the crowds of students. She found her mind wandering back to the time her family had spent in South America. She had been able to enjoy many days of lonely thoughts there. Her parents' habit of living away from civilization suited her just fine. She closed the book with a bang and shoved it into her bag. She would make the best of this situation, but she didn't have to like it. Her mother had once told her that if she would only make a friend so that she had someone to talk to, she would feel better and wouldn't be so antisocial. She shook the memory out of her head. It was ridiculous.

Cre stood outside of the green house leaning against its wall and looking around the empty fields. She must have been earlier than she thought. It wasn't long before Professor Sprout showed up giving her a friendly smile as she unlocked the third greenhouse. "Good morning Professor Sprout." She said giving her a smile; Even if Sylvia wasn't there she would still have to deal with Herbology so she might as well make the most of it.

However Professor Sprout told Cre to wait outside so the rest of the class knew which greenhouse they were in as she went inside to prepare the classes lesson. Curiosity seemed to have gotten the best of her this time; She looked through the glass of the greenhouse window and tried to figure out exactly what she was going to need to study up for today. But with Professor Sprout moving so much and her somewhat... blocking figure she couldn't tell what. Guess I'll just have to try and fluke it today Slithers... She thought to herself as she looked down at the little lump in her robe pocket.

She swooped past the turrets of the castle, eyes closed, feeling the wind in her hair. She passed over the greenhouses and looked down to see Professor Sprount entering one. A student stood outside, peering through the glass. With a sigh, she circled around to come in for a landing. "Time to put the broom away and get to class. Mondays are the worst," she said aloud. She landed softly behind some trees and walked her broom to the side of the greenhouse. She left it there, leaning against the glass, and continued around the corner to join the other student at the door. "Let's get this over with," she muttered under her breath and stopped at the door. A look inside told her that the professor was still preparing, so she leaned impatiently against the door frame and stared wistfully at the clouds. "I wish class were already over," she said aloud, kicking at a rock with her shoe.
