I heard something when I went into town today that made my weekend. A guy in the middle of town was singing songs from musicals, and sang a fantastic version of "Bring Him Home" from Les Mis heart

I loooove musicals! heart My favorite is Jekyll and Hyde. If you haven't seen it and it comes around to your area, GO! It's awesome. I'm going to see Les Miserables next week, and Spamalot in a couple months. I haven't seen Phantom or Wicked, but I know all the music and someday I will (fingers crossed!). I just wish they weren't so expensive... >_< The number that I've actually seen is probably too high to remember... I get season tickets to theaters all the time. ^_^

LedZeppelinGirl I'll have to read Wicked first.
I hear the book is absolutely nothing like the play... someone told me they used the names and not much else. Has anyone read this who can confirm/deny this? I'd be interested in seeing what people think.

I'd be interested in seeing what people think. It's true, the book is pretty far from the musical story line. I don't want to spoil anything for those planning to read, but I think I can say this without ruining too much. Elphaba doesn't admire the Wizard in any way, shape or form. The love triangle is also missing. They're both good stories in their own right, they've just got little in common.

However, the music is amazing and both are awesome in their own right.
If you read the book and see the show, you can still enjoy them as long as you're not expecting them to be exactly the same. 3nodding

I've seen Phantom of the Opera twice (once here in Boston, once in Providence, RI), Spamalot, RENT, Aida, and Wicked (on Broadway! whee ). I'm going to see Avenue Q when it comes here on spring break next year.
I would kill to see Les Mis. I have the 10th Anniversary concert on DVD and I hearts it. Also waiting for The Lion King and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to come back this way.
EDIT: I totally forgot! There's a French musical of Romeo and Juliet that's amazing. whee
