If you don't know about Cuban politics then I will give you a crash course. Each person is given a certain amount of land depending on family size. Each of them grows an amount of crops and use some for themselves and gives the rest to the government. The main crop of Cuba if you didn't know is tobacco and sugarcane. I have never said that it extends your lifespan however it does not affect it, and it is proven in any Caribbean, African, Middle Eastern, Asian, or Latin American country where they take these things. Marijuana is also medicinal. Studies are showing that it may help battle anorexia, Alzheimer's, arthritis, and many other things. Tobacco is used similarly to clear sinuses, and other things that I'm not remembering and will have to look up again. Also tobacco does not do that. What story of tobacco use does it say that the person lost everything because of tobacco? Perhaps a lot of money but everything? Tobacco, despite being more addictive than heroin when pumped with chemicals, does not completely destroy ones life and I challenge you to tell me an actual story that says it does.

I've promised myslef never to smoke. My dad does it, and he hates it. But he just can't stop. But it's nice to know that cigars are safe. I just realised this! Cigars are the original of cigarettes (hense the name) and ette is added onto lot's of things to make 'em feminin. So I'm guessing the murderous smokes were originaly made for women....
Anyways, I do my best to get away from my dad when he smokes. I wish he would respect us and not smoke in the car and smoke outside. I probably have 5 years cut off of my life already!

Noxness Random fact: Cigs today are far more toxic and addictive then they were 60 years ago. That's probably because the tobacco companies are losing more and more business every year and people don't smoke anymore and don't want to and don't like it. xD So they have to make it really addictive to keep what customers they have left.

Warning labels. They are clearly printed with pictures included on each carton, thus captures the libertarian idea of freedom to endanger one's own body, as long as the person is fully educated of all the dangers. You have the freedom to smoke or not, let people make decisions for themselves as long as they’re willing to take personal responsibility for their actions.
But this poses something new, if smoking has a warning label on it for its dangers, why doesn't anything else? The number one cause of death is a heart attack. What causes heart attacks? Among other things diabetes and high triglyceride levels. So do we slap warning labels on restaurants, beer bottles and others? What about things that also have a cause of death? Airplane accidents for example, we don't put warning labels on Boeing 747's do we?
So what am I saying? Smoking kills yes, but people make a conscious decision to smoke. I think tobacco companies should be more careful with their advertising.

Smoking itself doesn`t kill, unless you are allergic to tobacco.
But it`s an accelerate for lung cancer. I`ve known people who have lung cancer but have never touched a cigarette in their lives.
Cigars are safe to smoke as long as you don`t inhale the smoke. If you just puff it, you`re good.
My father inhales the smoke. >.>

Even if smoking ISN'T bad for you, It's kinda pointless as it wastes money and well, if you've ever walked past a smoker you know how bad it smells. rolleyes

It's a waste of money and reduces your lifespan by several years, along with the fact that you'll get lung cancer quicker. Just no.
That, and when you accidentally get a bunch of cig smoke in your mouth... well it's just plain icky.

iagree. smoking does kill im glad that people realize that now. a long time ago no one knew that. teens and teachers used to smoke in the classroom. not many people in my family are smokers and im glad. but its still dangerous because of all the other people in the world to smoke. smoke is in the air. and little kids just playing outside could breath that in and become very sick. i dont think ciggarettes should be made any more.

I have tried smoking and it's not cool at all. One of my so-called friends smokes many times a day and keeps bragging about it. She thinks she's so cool because she smokes but me and my other friends laugh at her. She's an idiot. rolleyes
I don't understand why anyone would want to get a lung cancer... D:

I don't get how they are addicting or how they make you look cool. All they are is cancer on a stick that makes you smell bad and makes your teeth rot.
