[Rocket Base]

Adam listened to Rook, his eyes widening, "You sure you can handle that?" There was something intimidating about the birds. Adam couldn't put his finger on it, but he could tell that running off alone to deal with the parent sounded dangerous. Recklessly dangerous. Even for an Elite. Then again the grunt had failed at one of the more basic tasks. It wasn't like he could just tag along with Rook and help.

Adam inclined his heads about the types and grabbed his third pokeball. "I've got a litwick. Also my Gastly knows hypnosis and obviously I've got a Growlithe..." Seemed like he could do some decent damage to the birds, "Gastly can levitate too."

The ghost whispered nervously beside Adam.

[Rook with Rockets]

Michiko eyes widen while she was listening to Rook. An articuno...really? Michiko tisked at herself for her stupidity.

She is really unprepared to face an articuno. Her water types won't cut it. Even though her Zacharel has thunder, she should have brought one of her standby pokemon, a fire type preferably, and it could wreck havoc.

She looked at the other Rockets, yet she wasn't alone in this, somehow this might actually work.

She got up from where she was standing, pet Zacharel as he stood close to her as if shielding her from any dangers already, looked at Rook and nodded once to give her okay.

"I seriously doubt I can defeat it," Rook replied to Adam's concern, her metallic gaze firm and level on her target, "but I can occupy it, and I can survive it - probably." A faint smile crept into the corner of her lips. "But what kind of training instructor would I be if I allowed a full-powered Articuno to obliterate my students? Don't worry about me and focus on the juveniles. Just because they're young doesn't mean they'll be easy to deal with. Work together, and if things get too hot to handle, get away. You don't need to put your lives on the line for this."

She pressed the release on the pokeball in her hand, and a buzzing Vespiquen took shape from the resulting light. "Power Gem," the elite stated, her tone scarcely coming off as a command at all, but nonetheless the Vespiquen reacted. The pokemon raised her spindly arms and a light formed between them, taking on a crystalline appearance. In the next moment, she swung downwards, and the attack landed squarely upon the back of one the two smaller birds in the bushes. The young Articuno squawked in surprise, but it was deafened by the hellish sound the adult produced.

Immediately, Rook and her Vespiquen darted off towards the mountains, the larger Articuno screeching as it pursued. The two remaining birds chirped quietly to each other, staring apprehensively at the humans left in the area.

Rather her than him; KO had no intention of dying any time within the next four decades or so, or of risking his life for anyone else. If they could manage one of the juveniles though....

As Rook made her strike and then shot off away from them, drawing the adult with her, KO released four of his six pokemon; a Raichu, an Umbreon, a Banette, and an Arcanine appeared. "We need to disable them so they can't fly away," he said to anyone who was listening, "If somebody doesn't go in with a sleep condition quickly I'll try paralysis. Regent, stick with me and have Protect ready!" As he spoke KO backed further away from the pair of young legendaries, keeping his eyes fixed firmly on them. "Anyone wants to share Protect had better stick close," he added; he wasn't risking himself by offering to share a shield.

Well, there went Rook and the big bird... That bug thing was kind of interesting, and vaguely, Clancy wondered if that was what the worms might become. If so, then he hadn't done all that terribly maybe.

He had to refocus though.
KO was offering to share 'Protect' and while Clancy didn't know the specifics of the move, he liked the sound of it, and moved closer to the other redhead.
"Right-o! Ah, yella' bugger?" He addressed Clerval, who was looking with a concerned, and rather incredulous expression at the young Articunos.
"Get one of 'em artful codger birds with that bloomin' shocky thing y' do, don't 'ang about!"
Clerval, thankfully, understood that Clancy meant 'Thunder Shock', and choose the same juvenile that Rook had aimed at before.

"Yeah, but Rook --" And there she went, off to battle with the giant bird. Adam sighed and swallowed his tongue. It was for the better.

KOs offer to share protect didn't go unnoticed. Adam moved closer to the pair and motioned with one hand for Manny to move in, "Manny, try to hit it with a hypnosis."

Reluctantly the Gastly moved forward, its eyes glowing as it leveld the move at one of the Arcticuno.

Worrying his lip ring with his tongue, he murmured to the two grunts beside him, "Manny has mean look too... We could lock them into a battle, but..." Is that a good idea? Adam didn't say it, but it was evident in the tense shoulders and wary look he shot the other two rockets.

"Sounds good," KO replied tightly, eyes still on the pair of Articuno; he wasn't familiar with the move Mean Look but if it forced a pokemon to stay close to its attacker then great. "If things get too hairy we can escape. Manny can catch up." Ghosts couldn't die - or he assumed so - and anyway it was only a pokemon, so again better it than any of them. Especially him.

Lex released Glit, the Serperior narrowing her eyes and giving a displeased See at the pair of Juvies and huffed, following her trainer over to the group. "Be ready to Safe Guard luv, rather not find us frozen to ground." He released his Sneasel and Joltik. "Slip, Agility it up. Going to need you to get Sunny here close enough for a Thunder wave." The Sneasel nodded, moving swiftly.

Then his Ariados and Braixen. "Grims, Hypnoses, Spins, you are on Protect duty and I don't care if anyone here has a bird, no thinking about eating their pokes." Pulse sighed and ruffled his hair. "Okay, Glit! Safe Guard, and keep it up."

The Serperior 'See'd and set the shield to block move affects over the group, standing alert and ready to keep the move up. "Grims, give a hypnosis."

Grimlock grinned, bouncing out and send a Hypnosis at one of the birds. "Lets do this right... or if we ******** up, see about tearing some feathers out of their hide before we run away. Maybe we'll get a skin tag." Pulse muttered, hoping Hypnosis hit. Damn uncertain moves.

Everyone seemed to be whispering about a myriad of different things, most of which he didn't quite understand. Someone started listing off elements, someone else was talking about their pokemon, and Rook was... running away from the largest bird, along with her pokemon. Huh. Despite the fact all Sync wanted to do was move as little as possible until it was time to go back, they had a new objective, one he had no desire to fail. It didn't matter in the least that he didn't fully understand the why's of said objective, but presumably these pokemon were important to Team Rocket.

The trainee hopped to his feet with quite a bit less energy than he'd had earlier, the towel still pressed to his eye as he quickly thought through various strategies. Partway through, however, he recalled Rook's assessment of him, and his gaze swept across the others and their pokemon. Huh... Well, he didn't really know how to fight a giant bird anyway, so maybe it would be better to let the pokemon do it... Fight fire with fire, or so the saying went. Make the animals do all the work; that sounded just fine to him.

A hand slipped into his pocket and pulled out his single pokeball, and his thumb slid over the release catch. Bright white light erupted from within its confines and arced forward before it shrank and almost seemed hesitant as it morphed into a petite and rather confused-looking Vulpix. The little fire-type swiveled her head around, her already large eyes as wide as dinner plates as she saw just how many people and pokemon were gathered about. Her tails twitched in anticipation as she looked up at the only familiar face, and gave a start when she saw half of his face covered and parts of him looking decidedly redder than they had been the last time she'd seen him. Sync stared back down at her with a growing frown on his face. He had a pokemon, yes, but he had no idea what to do with it. Well, other people were telling their pokemon what to do, so that sounded like a good place to start... He hadn't understood much of what they'd told their pokemon, though. Something about fighting moves? "Go," the trainee paused a moment or two while debating his word choice, "do something useful. Don't let the birds escape." While he severely doubted his useless, too-cutesy pokemon could do anything, he could at least begin to take Rook's advice in doing so.

The Vulpix blinked her large eyes and looked behind her, expecting some Pidgey or Spearow. A startled "vul!" escaped her as she saw the pair of blue birds in the bushes, and she quickly backpedaled a few steps as her ears pinned themselves back against her skull and her tails lowered. Rather than do anything even remotely useful as he'd commanded, she started to tremble in fear instead. Sync did not look impressed.

The already injured Articuno squawked in surprise when it was hit with a Thunder Shock, and it clacked its beak to display its displeasure a moment before a Hypnosis hit it, and the bird suddenly fell out of sight with a graceless whump. While Manny had gotten lucky with his sleep-inducing move, Grimlock would not be, as the second Articuno whipped its head around to see what had happened to its sibling. Time seemed to slow for a few moments as one Articuno remained fast asleep and the other watched, its head slowly tilting in confusion, before it suddenly spun around and loosed a deafening screech of anger. Its wings snapped open and glittering snowflakes materialized beneath its wings, and the sight could almost be described as pretty, with the mottled sunlight filtering through the trees and reflecting off of the ice-type's gleaming feathers and catching on the snowflakes floating through the air...

Until those few snowflakes multiplied as a Blizzard whipped around the base camp, the wind howling through the trees and dropping the temperature in the area significantly, as the Articuno attempted to hit all of the offending pokemon at once.

[Rook with Rockets, Chasing Articunos]

Michiko gave chase as the other's started to do so as well. The Articunos was magnificent and she hope they could pull it off.

One Articuno was hit with hypnosis and before that was hit with Thunder Shock, going down with a thud. Yet, it angered the second Articuno even further and started a Blizzard.

Michiko needed to do something now. "Zacharel!" She cried as she mega evolved the absol she had. "THUNDER!"

She hoped, from what she learned, that the snow is a great conductor of electricity and hope by striking at the source, it will take a little bit more damage.

She hoped anyway.

((Let me know if Zacharel shouldn't be able to mega evolve yet according to time wise. I'll edit it so she just gave an attack command))

[Bloody big buggers o' bluebirds!]

Ooh! The yellow rat was damned useful for something! He'd actually hit that bird with his 'shocky' attack. For just a moment, Clancy felt rather proud; he -did- have -useful- pokémon... That was most important to him, as he didn't understand why anyone would carry a bunch of animals (unless they were fish, fish were top-dog) unless they were useful...
That 'windbag' thing of Adam's seemed pretty useful too, dropping the bird like that...
The feeling of elation and pride was short-lived and quickly replaced by some substantial fear though as the -other- bird decided the place needed a remodel in the style of bloody Siberia.
"Oh bloody 'ell!" Clancy shouted, shivering as it became, very very suddenly, so incredibly cold. Despite 'Protect' helping him to 'not die' (in his opinion), he could still feel the drop in temperature, and wished he'd brought a much, much, much warmer coat. "He's gone and turned the bloody heating off! Outside!" He exclaimed, a little incredulously; pokémon could do something like that? He hadn't expected it.

Another source of concern, irritation, and disappointment, was the fact that the 'turn the heating off move' was apparently very very strong... His 'yellow rat' seemed to stand frozen for a moment, before Clerval fell over backwards with a 'c***k', unable to battle, apparently.
"Ah, crap!" Well, the Picklechew had been useful for a while, at least. That was just unlucky... Clancy frowned.
He had Mircalla and Ditty left; a fish and a... newt? Whatever. He called them both out, somewhat desperately.
"Oi, you two! That thing took out the yella' rat! Hit it with... whatever y' bloody do!"

Mircalla, at least, was used to Clancy. She wasn't happy that she'd been called out, on land, into an incredibly cold situation, but she was loyal... Even if she was called out against a... The fish paused. Oh what in Arceus?! Why were they facing /those/? Well... She had orders, sort of. Brine was her choice of attack toward the awake Articuno.

Ditty was not used to Clancy. 'Hit it with whatever' was an... interesting command. She looked from the sleeping bird, to the angry and awake bird.
The angry and awake bird seemed to be what Mircalla was targeting, so she probably should too... He'd said 'hit' so Ditty chose a 'Tail Whip', and turned to wiggle her bottom at the bird. This caused Clancy to take on a further incredulous expression. His singing newt-thing was wiggling its arse at the angry bird... How was that an attack?

As the Blizzard whipped up Regent's eyes glowed blue and he threw a bubble of Protect around himself, his trainer, and any others who'd huddled up close enough to fit into it.

KO's other three pokemon were not so fortunate; Viceroy tried to take the brunt of it off Duke by stepping in front of him but freezing crystals still slammed into the Raichu, slicing his skin, and buffeted the silent lantern-carrying form of Countess.

It was hard to tell what Countess thought about anything but it was safe to bet that she hadn't appreciated the attack as she didn't wait for orders before acting. Turning her head in the direction of her assailant she plunged her free hand into the eerie flame of her lantern, heavily damaging herself and laying a Curse on the Articuno.

KO grimaced, his hands clenched tightly into fists and his hair whipping wildly in the wind. "Not great," he muttered, glancing longingly at the van. Couldn't he just... sidle over there? But no, they'd have his head if he ran and hid over trying to obtain a legendary.

"Alright, Duke, Volt Tackle, and Viceroy use... uh, Fire Fang!" Countess had already made her own decision it seemed, but it was a good enough one so he couldn't complain.

Duke nodded understanding to his trainer, sprang out from behind Viceroy and raced towards the Articuno with power building and sparking in his fur as he went. By the time he made his final reckless leap at the ice type legendary he was surrounded by a yellow-white glow that was painful to the eyes. If his attack connected it would turn out rather painful for Duke too, this really wasn't his favourite move but he didn't question his trainer when he was told to use it.

Viceroy was a little way behind Duke, bounding forward with a challenging howl as he opened his flaming jaws ready to bite down on the nearest available portion of the Ariticuno's anatomy once Duke's attack had hit home.

Spins glowed as he casted Protect a bit behind Regent and gave annoyed Arraa at the cold. He hated birds. Soo much hate.

Glit recast Safeguard as the attack washed over them, giving a soft tired See. Again with the Blizzards.

Lex removed his Joltik, handing it off to his sneasel. "Okay, Slip at my mark, Quick Attack, Sunny, when you get close, jump off her and use Thunderwave, try to give her room to get away but if you don't... I have berries." He looked over the battled frowning. "Grimlock! Fire Spin it." He called out.

"Slip, Quick Attack, Sunny Thunderwave it when you get close."

Grimlock huffed, cheeks puffing up before spitting out a cone of fire at the bird.

Slipstream gave a gleeful Sneasel as she pushed forward and went to slam into the Articuno with her tiny Joltik passenger. If they got close enough, Sunspot would disengage and attempt to fall ontop of the articuno and use his thunderwave attack.

Adam was stunned when Manny felled the one bird. Elation burst from the rocket in a loud whoop as his fist jabbed the air, "GOOD JOB MANNY!"

Of course, it wouldn't be that simple, would it? The temperature in the world dropped as ice began to gather. He was shaking now as the cold seeped into his skin. This was a blizzard attack? Horror struck Adam as he realized, "MANNY!"

The ghost was caught in the storm, taking it full brunt. Despite being, well, incorporeal, the attack damaged his body. Crying in dismay, Manny dropped to the ground, frozen. Adam immediately returned the little ghost, his stomach clenched in barely warded panic. Hopefully the damage wasn't too severe.

Maki who had been beside him barked, eyes blazing at his trainer for a move. Adam nodded, "Maki Fire Fang at the Articuno that's awake!"
