Right! Now it was time to reveal themselves! To send out their 'mon, kick this 'Deirdre's' arse and steal this giant stag thing!
Or not.
The heck? Clancy frowned, momentarily confused. They were... attacking the Rockets? What the hell was this?! They had to /keep/ playing along!
He audibly groaned as he realised.
At least he hadn't done anything already, and now understood. Though it meant he was joining the fray a fraction late and in a mood that would probably seem more impatient than anxious to defend the legendary or battle rockets.
"Bloody 'ell..." He shook his head and sent out Clerval. "Do ya shocky magic on that," Oh what the hell was /that/ thing?!! "balloon monster!" He'd asked Clerval to use Thundershock on Drifblim.
Mircalla and Ditty were out next.
"You two do some bloody water voodoo on that, uh," he didn't know what any of these bloody things were... "Firekitty!" Ditty, thankfully, knew to follow Mircalla to attack the Pyroar. Ditty using Water Gun, and Mircalla using Brine."

Tambrey bit her tongue as one of the rockets had his Raichu attack Xerneas. Right. Fine. They would, as KO had thought the same, unknown to her, have to put on a show.
She remembered she needed Kalos-native pokémon really, and was pleased that she recalled Aggrons, Pidgeots, Crobats, and Ariados were definitely on that list... She wasn't /sure/ if Growlithes were... And she was certain Jirachis were not.
She could find some way to explain the odd colourations if she had to, though she was reluctant to use Lasi, who might be pretty clearly a Pinkan Island species...

The scientist sent out Ella, Pygi, and Neph.
"Ella, Iron Tail that Furfrou! Pygi, try Gust on that Lucario! Neph..." Hrm. Neph. Poor things. "Neph, use Shadow Sneak on that Kadabra!"

All of the pokemon darted forward - though that implied a speed some of them just didn't have at the moment - to engage the enemies, and a flurry of attacks erupted across the cavern. When the dust cleared, a number of the Rocket pokemon collapsed to the floor, joining their already unconscious comrades. The ones that remained upright stood their ground, sending a volley of attacks across to try to keep their opponents at bay.

The Raichu (#1) sent a second Thunderbolt towards Xerneas, but growled in annoyance when its attack bounced harmlessly off due to Regent's Protect. Greninja (#2) ignored Eris's weak attack and instead focused on Lindsay; it disappeared, then suddenly reappeared behind her in a quick Feint Attack. Meanwhile, the Lucario (#4) cried out in surprise at the two attacks and as it sustained a painful burn, but gritted its teeth and turned to run towards Jack with a Bone Rush. Heliolisk (#5) turned around and flared its collar at their opponents before launching a Thunder Shock at Pygi. Furfrou, battered though it was, growled before spinning around and attempting to revenge one of its fainted comrades with a Reversal aimed at Maki. Scrafty (#7) folded its arms across its chest, displeased at the scene before it, before it launched towards Ella with a Brick Break attack. Last but not least, Malamar (#12) grumbled at Manny's attack, its eyes narrowing as it clacked its beak in obvious displeasure. Its tentacles glowed a moment before it lashed them out at Manny in a Psycho Cut.

The blond agent had begun running toward the only female Rocket in the cave when he stumbled after being licked by Haunter. "What the hell?!" He shouted, but continued running a moment later when he didn't see anything; he obviously hadn't been paralyzed. Upon reaching the brunette agent, he grabbed onto her shoulder and panted a bit before speaking to her quietly.

Xerneas reared again as light materialized between its horns, readying another Moonblast. Its intended target - the blond agent - made a strangled noise in the back of his throat before he dodged to one side, though the brunette merely squeaked and pressed herself back against the wall, hands raised as if that alone would protect her from the legendary's fury.

"No, don't!" The elite suddenly shouted, his expression stricken with sickening fear and dread as he started forward. Realizing he'd be unable to reach his teammate in time, he hastily scooped up a rock from the ground and hurled it at Xerneas. The stone landed squarely on the side of the fairy legend's head, and the bright glowing light disappeared in an instant. All too quickly, Xerneas turned and charged forward towards the elite with an angry bellow at continuously being assaulted, its gleaming horns lowered and ready to attack. His breath hitched and he backpedaled a few feet until he found himself pressed to the wall, and he, too, raised his hands to the legendary to defend himself.

The echoing crash of something into stone reverberated throughout the cavern as Xerneas came to a halt with its antlers slammed into the even wall of the cave, a surprised and fearful elite trapped between the legendary's branching antlers. From the look on his face, it could easily be discerned he had fully expected to be impaled, and was rather surprised he hadn't been - though one look at Xerneas showed it was quite ready and willing to do so, should the Rocket continue to be a threat.

[Attacking Raichu]

With their first target dealt with Frost's pokemon glanced to him for confirmation of their next actions.

Having been keeping a close eye on the battlefield Frost nodded and indicted the Raichu.

Skiron called further orders to his companions and gave another Ice Beam while Atlas used Freeze Dry again but Undine - as there was no advantage to using ice attacks on the electric type - used Water Pulse this time for the power advantage in it being her native type.

[Attacking Greninja and Lucario]

Alright so far so good other than Clancy's complete lack of pokemon related vocabulary, they-

The legendary was attacking the Rockets themselves, ignoring the pokemon. KO wasn't sure what happened when you got hit by a legendary's attack but he was willing to bet it was something you didn't get up from in a hurry. He had to admit he was pretty surprised when the Elite played the hero, that made two of them he'd known to stick their neck out for their subordinate: that guy and Rook. He was starting to think that maybe your average elite was not as awful and uncaring as he had been brought to believe. Stupid though, that guy had had it.... Or not? No, it just had him pinned against the wall. Best they hurry and subdue their comrades before it changed its mind!

"Okay, good, Raichu get the Greninja and Umbreon help him! Arcanine, Fire Fang the Lucario and Golbat give it Aerial Ace!"

Duke nodded to Regent, who used Helping Hand to give him a boost. Glowing with blue energy Duke unleashed a powered up Thunderbolt at the water type while Viceroy and Bruce went after the Lucario with their attacks as ordered.

[Attacking Malamar #12, Furfrou #6, Scrafty #7, and Heliolisk #5]

"Damn it!" Shadow was grateful to his pokemon, but they had yet to knock out their targets. He had meant to ask Jack to Hex Lucario next now that he'd been burned, but since KO seemed to be taking care of the Steel and Fighting type as well as the Greninja, he decided to pick new targets. The older grunt's pokemon were probably more experienced in battle anyway.

"Jack, Lindsay, you guys okay?" he asked them.

He received nods from both in response. They had sustained some damage, but neither attack had been super effective and they still had a great deal of fight left in them. Why did there have to be so many Dark-types, though?

"Glad to hear it. Let's try this again - Lindsay? Use Thunder on that squid thing (#12 Malamar)! Eris, get the dog (#6 Furfrou) with Psychic if you can. Jack, go after the lizard with the pants (#7 Scrafty) with Fire Spin. And Haunter, use Hypnosis on the other lizard with the frill (#5 Heliolisk)!"

He barely had time to watch his pokemon carry out his orders before things went down with the human Rockets and Xernears. His eyes widened in shock as the Elite attempted to distract the Legendary from his comrades. It was such a brave, yet stupid thing to do. Hopefully the man would stay alive long enough to not regret it.

Malamar, Raichu, Greninja

Clancy grinned a nasty little grin. All right! Mr.Tickle and the Feline Torch were both down.
... And the Xerneas was attacking the Rockets who'd already been here. Wonderful. Well there wasn't a bloody thing he could do about that. Would be a shame if that guy croaked but Clancy would rather it was that guy than himself...
"Eesh. Nasty fancy b*****d..." He muttered, pulling a face at the legendary's actions.

"Mircalla! Go eat that Squididoo!" He pointed toward the Malamar, and the fish, understanding, shot toward it, ready to use Bite.

Hm... Giant orange rat. KO had something similar. It was probably related to his yella rat. That 'next one up'... what was it called? Write-you or something... Well, that meant it was electric anyway, and he remembered why he kept Ditty around.
"Do one of your bloody ground wotsits on Clerval's punk cousin! Not the one we know!" He didn't want her assuming he meant KO's version of the electric rodent, after all.
Ditty, thankfully, somehow understood the oddly worded request and went after the Raichu with Mud Slap.

'Clerval's punk cousin'?! Clerval lost his focus on the battle for a moment, to look back at his trainer with a decidedly dirty expression.
He was quickly refocused, however, when Clancy shouted at him:
"Oi! Whatcha bloody standin' 'round for?! Go do y'r stormablasts on the bloomin' Frogface there!" Of course, he meant Greninja; Clerval sent a Thundershock that way.

Heliolisk, Scrafty

Ella roared in displeasure as the super effective Brick Break hit her. Ooh that had hurt a lot! She turned to glare at the Scrafty, but didn't retaliate, waiting on Tambrey's orders.

"Oh no!" Tambrey gasped as she watched the scene with Xerneas now going after their colleagues themselves. She winced and then breathed out a sigh of relief.
Pinned. Not killed. Not about to be blasted. Good. That would do for now.
"Stay still!" She called, hoping it wouldn't be ignored, or if it would, that the Elite would do so anyway.

She shook her head and returned her attention to the battle, wincing as she saw both Ella and Pygi take super effective attacks. Ouch... That wasn't good at all. Another wash of relief as Ella hung on, and then Pygi, despite screeching in displeasure, and flapping to the ground in pain, got unsteadily back up to glare at the lizard that had just done that to her.
They had to change targets... Help eachother...

"Ella! Mud Slap that Heliolisk, quickly! Pygi, try a Gust on that Scrafty!" Right. Wear was... Neph?
The Kadabra was down... and Neph was... currently on the ceiling. Great.
Currently on the ceiling and hungrily eyeing Xerneas.
"No Neph!"
The spider chittered unhappily and looked from Tambrey, to Xerneas, and back again. <>
"Help Pygi! Use Poison Sting on that Scrafty! Don't make me get Lasi out!"

Neph chittered something very rude, and turned, staying on the ceiling, to shoot Poison Sting toward the Dark and Fighting type. She'd obey. For now. But her patience was running thin.

[Attacking the Malamar]

Adam tried to keep his eyes on the various pokemon, but it was difficult. Manny was in one area, and Maki almost on the opposite side of his field of vision. Flicker was easily dispatching a Kadabra. He turned to watch Maki, knowing that the Growlithe was the hardest to control.

A piercing shriek of a Gastly fainting drew Adam's attention as if he had been burnt. Jerking he stared wide eyed as the pinkish blade sliced through the ghost, sending Manny tumbling. Stomach twisting with fear, he cried out the ghosts's name, "MANNY!" And immediately returned him.

Things would go from bad to worse. The Furfrou was not taken out by the reversal. Instead, it did the move itself. While Maki wasn't weak against fighting moves, the Furfrou's weakened state made the attack very powerful. It's blow sent Maki sailing backwards into a small heap. Struggling, the small pup shook as it placed a single pad down, forcing its upper body to stand. "********! Maki return!" The light of the pokeball consumed him. Adam was relieved he hadn't been knocked out... He had a potion or two left, and could heal up the little Growlithe later.

That left Flicker. "Flicker! Use astonish on the Malamar!" Hopefully it would stop the creature from attacking. Adam had a bit of a vendetta out for that pokemon now.

(Scrafty / Heliolisk / Furfrou)

Diantha's pokemon, hardly content to stand around and let the battle rage on without their own contributions, selected their own targets to help the team realize their success. The Gardevoir raised its arms to summon an orb of light similar to that which Xerneas had created earlier, albeit far less intense in its gleaming, and directed the Moonblast attack at the enemy Scrafty. The Tyrantrum charged the Heliolisk to separate it from the 'ally' pokemon, taking advantage of the cover created by Ella's Mud Slap to do so, and stamped a clawed foot, causing the ground beneath it to dance in a potent Earthquake. The Gourgeist, despite being somewhat put out that it wasn't able to take advantage of a type weakness in doing so, scattered a series of grenade-like Seed Bombs at the Furfrou.

The din of battle echoed and reverberated throughout the spacious cavern as the various Pokemon fought, bombarding each other with attacks and status afflictions. Each of the Rocket pokemon fell to the ground, one by one, as the various attacks hit and proved too much for them. When the dust settled, none of the enemy pokemon remained standing. Xerneas still had its target pinned to the wall - he didn't need Tambrey's shout to know it would be in his best interest not to move - and the two agents remained relatively close to one another, the brunette still pressed against the wall and still looking like a Deerling in headlights after she'd almost gotten firsthand experience in what Xerneas's Moonblast felt like at close range, while the blond leaned with one hand on the cave wall as he leaned on it for support and uttered a rude curse at their circumstances.

Diantha, having watched the battle carefully to be ready to react in case dirty tricks were used against the 'Rangers,' noticed the instant the last enemy pokemon fell, and her tension was replaced with an authoritative confidence. "Team Rocket," she said, "you no longer have any means to attack nor defend yourselves. You can clearly see the results of this battle - even had I not been here, these Rangers would have easily defeated you. It's in your best interests to surrender now."

The elite exhaled a shaky breath when Diantha spoke, but otherwise didn't move or say anything given his current predicament; the brunette agent lifted her hands to her cheeks, her startled shock fading into disappointment and uncertainty. Conversely, the blond agent looked more incredulous than anything at their situation. "Surrender?!" He sputtered, incredulity giving way to anger. "After how long we chased this thing around and down into this stupid cave, are you kidding me?!"

"Stand down, Leo." Despite his precarious situation, the elite opted to speak rather than remain silent. Xerneas made a displeased noise and one sword-like hoof pawed the ground, causing the elite to tense, but otherwise the legendary remained still.

"What?! No! We went through all that -- why should I?" The blond insisted, his hands balling into fists at his sides.

"All our pokemon fainted," said the brunette, her voice a little shaky either from fear or from disappointment, though given what had happened just a scant few minutes ago, it was probably the former. "We're trapped in here, what else can we do?"

KO relaxed a fraction now that the fight seemed to be over and thus there wasn't much chance of getting caught in the crossfire or something. "Best do as the Champion says; we don't want to hurt you, or at least I don't," he put in. "You two in white put your hands on your heads and stay where you are, looks like your friend doesn't have much choice in where he stays."

Turning to Diantha KO added; "Want me to go search them?" He still wasn't entirely clear on whether or not the Rockets knew that they were Rockets. From the briefing on the jet - which now seemed like it had been a week ago - he had assumed that they would but maybe not? If not then he certainly didn't want them having weapons, especially the blond who seemed like he might do something stupid.

KO's quartet of pokemon moved back over to join him; they were still in good shape for the most part though Bruce was hurting somewhat from that tussle with the Lucario and it showed in the way he flopped grumpily on the ground rather than fluttering up to find somewhere to perch up on the ceiling.

Regent gave a derisive snort.

Bruce glowered.

Duke cleared his throat and allowed a little electricity to crackle in his cheeks.

Viceroy barked.

Bruce and Regent both rolled their eyes this time but they remained quiet and turned their attention back onto the Legendary and the vanquished Rockets.
