Curled up in the basin of a little wooden boat and covered by a blanket, and almost in a dead sleep Fira was awoken by a deep scuffing against the bottom of the wooden boat. At first she was thinking it would just be better to go right back to sleep, her body urged her to do so, but when her head cleared a little more and remembered her situation she slowly sat up clasping her fingers of the edge of the boat to help pull her up as she peered over it. Nothing but water, that’s all she saw before a wave rocked her and she heard the scuffing and she sat up a little more this time looking down into the water rather right across it and she found a sandy bottom just a few inches below the surface.
The phoenix’s brows rose and she gasped a little quickly turning her body and lunging it at the other side of the boat clasping the edge and looking down at the water there, finding the source of the scuffing sound. A rock jutting out of the water was rubbing up against the hull of the boat every time a wave rocked the boat into it. Fira’s eyes were soon drawn up the slowly rising ground under the water until it finally broke the surface in the form of a shore, in fact it was then she noticed she was actually under a wooden dock with a large boat anchored next to it. No wonder she had the chills, the sun simply couldn’t reach her. Slowly she stood on unsteady legs for it had been a while sense she actually used them plus she was weak from the lack of food and water. After pocketing the pouch of coins and gems she had brought with her she held her arms out to the sides for balance as she stepped out of the boat onto the flat rock that was rubbing against it.
Then she had a dilemma, she was still a few feet from the shore with no way to get to it without actually stepping into the water. Fira sighed putting her arms down and leaning forward a little looking to see if there were anymore rocks that were just below the surface, however there were none. “Great,” The bird muttered looking back at the boat seeing if she would be able to maneuver it around, but it was pinned next to the rock she was standing on and one of the legs of the pier by the waves. Looking forward again she held her hand out and with a flicker of fire her staff formed in her hand. Then the girl took in a deep breath holding the staff firmly in both hands and taking a few steps back on the rock before suddenly bolting forward and taking aim at the water that stood between her and the shore. The butt of her staff speared the water and dug into the soft ground below it and Fira used her momentum the staff to prolong her jump and pollvolted across the water and fell onto her hands and knees on the shore with her staff clutched in one hand but she still got away with it with just a scrape on her knee.
She stood wiping herself off and with fire flicking over the staff in her hands once again she let it vanish. Observing for a moment what was before her Fira took her first few real steps in days and headed up the shore where ground gave away to a wood dock.

Muscles stretching almost in an almost good feeling pain, it felt rather awkward walking to Fira this time around. She certainly wasn’t graceful, but she wasn’t quite clumsy either. She took this chance of walking to stretch all of her muscles out before she set her mind on getting some nutrition that her body desperately needed. Around the docks they were selling raw but freshly caught fish. Phoenixes where omnivores, but for her own reasons, Fira was a vegetarian, the only meat she did and rarely eat were eggs, simply because she knew they were very nutritious.
She wondered where she was, but rarely did the brain of anything let any other thoughts get in the way of hunger. So Fira began to search for a little dock side eatery or something off the sort and found one, though it did have nothing but fried or greasy food, but she didn’t mind it filled her belly for the time being and later she could worry about getting healthier food.
Once she tucked her coins safely away in her pocket again she started away from the eatery and now was looking for information more on where she was and more about this foreign town. She did pick up that the name was Byako but she didn’t know exactly where she was. Through stopping a few people walking along the street she was able to get directions to a library that wasn’t too far, one that had quite a lot of books and defiantly the information she needed. So she headed away from the sea side port and off in the direction of this library that was supposedly called The Tenth Sea.
(Off to The Tenth Sea Library for me. )
