Amon the Warmage

PostPosted: Wed May 07, 2008 8:42 pm
Amon stopped abruptly at the sound of Darken's voice, at first not recognizing his voice. The shine began to fade as he recognized the voice speaking. He then realized what had taken place. He flipped his blades and sheathed them with practiced ease. He turned and mumbled an appology as Zedd spoke to them before retiring for the night. He had, though, gained a new respect for the man, Claintz, after their sparing. He ran up a tree to take the first watch, not worried about the figure in the woods. He would rest later, if he rested at all. He vouched not to elaborate on what had happened earlier. He still didn't fully trust the man yet.

Darken shook his head slowly, and muttering to himself, reentered the stables and went back to sleep. At least they had chosen the easy way. Someone always got hurt in the very easy way, and Darken was too tired to have to deal with himself probably being injured. It was good to have Zedd out there, too. He was, after all, a member of teh Rahl household, if not House Rahl.

Still, to bury child and grandchild. . .

Darken turned, found a slightly less uncomfortable bit of hay, and went to sleep, shutting out thought for a few hours.

Yondaime watched and waited, but when he saw most of the people leaving he decided to believe they were going to bed. This is good, a person gathers information in the cover of dark. He undid his wolf transformation and started to dig through his pack for something... smaller. He soon found a dead mouse and his knife, like with the wolf's fur, he made a small cut on his arm and wiped the mouse on his arm, "Dunf'unt kinu chuui bantic," he chanted silently then took the form of a mouse.

"I hope no one steps on me, or an owl doesn't get hungry," he thought to himself and started toward the camp. When he got there, he decided to start at the stables, checking to see if the horses were equip for battles.

Hack watched from afar as the fight was broken up and eveyone went back to what they were doing. Zedd and Darken disappeared into the building again, Calintz and Amon resumed their watch of the woods around them.

He stretched and returned his attention to his duty. Nothing would get by him, unless magic was involved. Hack grabbed his crossbow and started walking along the catwalk along the perimeter of the waystation.

By nightfall she had reached the campsite she had spotted from afar. She was all that was left of her kingdom. She, a young girl of no more than sixteen was the sole survivor of her people. All were gone, or enslaved, captured. Her mother and father had been executed, she had been forced to witness their deaths'. How cruel and contemptuous fate could be. The cold grip of fear still held her tightly in it's clutches. The front of her down had been torn to shreds, blood stained her young face and matted her hair to her forehead. She had escaped out of sheer desperation, rescued by a young servant boy that had worked in the castle, and her very own nurse-maid and her daughter, her chamber maid. They had willingly sacrificed their lives to help her escape. How could she live knowing their deaths' were her fault?. Chrisenelle stifled a sob and clung tighter to her mare's mane, leaning forward on her horse as she fought off another wave of nausea.
She would reach the camp by nightfall at the least, hopefully she would be able to find shelter and safety there. But her mind would not be safe, no matter how hard she tried, nor how desperately she fount to supress the vivid images that still played in her mind, flashbacks of the oh so recent past.
Tears rolled down her supple, reddened cheeks. She urged her mare onward, tenderly pressing her knees into the horses' sides. Up ahead was clearly positioned a waystation. Half way there, Chrisenelle dismounted and ran, her horse trotting along behind her, whinnying disapproval. Her legs were unsteady, albeit this fact she ran fast and hard, panting, her chest heaving with the effort of breath.

" Please...," she croaked in a hoarse voice, " Please help!," she sobbed helplessly, her voice jumping up an octave. She wasn't sure why she should call and cry for help when in all reality, help was beyond her people. It was too late now. She stumbled as she ambled along, running for the way station, tripping over the torn and tattered hems of her once elegant gown. The bottom had been so mutilated it showed her legs all the way to her upper thighs. The top of her dress had been torn to reveal some of her upper chest. She had been lucky this night, for she had escaped being raped by a general of the enemy army, rescued by her father's man servant.
" Please!!....," she cried again, stumbling and falling to the ground in a heap, sobbing, her chest aching and her heart racing.

Calintz leaned against a tree, keeping his watch in the shadows. He looked over and spotted Amon, keep watch on the other side. He had also spotted Hack earlier, but he couldn’t see him now. He had seen Zedd and Draken both slip away to get some rest. He brought up a strange whistle made of bone and softly blew into it. Humans couldn’t hear the noise it made, but animals could, that had been a special birdcall. He heard a noise of something landing on a branch above him. He didn’t have to look to know it was Shadow. He slipped the bone whistle back into his clothes. The original one had been a gift from Richard Rahl, but his tribe had learned to make them and use them. “Have you seen anything interesting, Shadow?” He asked, he glared around and made sure no one was close.

Shadow did likewise before answering in a female voice. “Someone…appears to be approaching, coming your way, Calintz.” She told him. She watched him draw his sword silently. “I don’t before she means harm…She seemed injured.” She told him, he frowned and slide his sword back in the sheath. Calintz glared around him and nodded. “Thank you, Shadow.” He told her and smiled up at her. He stepped out of the shadows as Shadow took to the air again, flying around his head for a few moments before circling the waystation again.

Calintz sighed and waited, he didn’t have to wait long. He heard the hooves of a horse and spotted it a few seconds later. He waited to make sure it was the same person that Shadow spoke of. She had better eyes them him, plus it was dark. He spotted her and knew it was the same person when she dismounted and started running toward him and the waystation, the horse following behind her, seemed to disapprove.

Calintz curse himself, for not moving faster when he seen her fall to the ground in a heap. He ran toward her, ignoring everything around him. He didn’t even see the man in the trees jump at him from the side, but a loud sound from the sky warned him. Silently he thanked Shadow as he turned just in time to evade the man’s sword thrust. Calintz grabbed his dagger on his belt, as he whipped around the man so that he was now behind him. He hammered the bottom of the dagger hard on the top of the man’s head, dropping him to the ground. He glared at the man, he wasn’t moving. He had worried he had killed him, but he had just knocked him out. He pushed the man on the girl’s horse, he didn’t think he had to worry but he bond the man’s hands and himself to the horse.

Calintz turned and made sure the girl was still breathing then, grabbed the reins to the horse and walked toward the girl. He gently picked her up, he had to get her to Zedd. There was blood all over her, and her clothes were torn badly. He started back toward the waystation with the girl in his arms, and gently pulled the mare by the reins. He didn’t have to look up to know Shadow was circling him in the sky.

Yondaime finished checking around the stables, he noticed someone sleeping so he just left him alone and started out the door but stopped. He looked back at the man and shook his head, "Probaly just a soldier on resting for watch duty," he thought to himself and left.

He ran around the place, from what he could tell was a waystation, looking for something that would give him an idea of what this place was for when a voice rang out in his mind, "Gifted... magic... D'Haran... outpost..." the voice said. It was another of the voices he had come acustomed to hearing since he had found his power and this time was like the others. He finally stopped when he saw one of the people who were fighting earlier came back carring a yound girl, he could tell she was unconcious and in bad shape but he couldn't reveal himself. Not yet anyway.

Yondaime decided to stay near and find out what was going on so he stayed near the stables, knowing it was a good hiding spot for him, with his currect size and all.

Amon had noticed the girl riding toward them, as if fleeing something horrible. It also looked as if her dress were in tatters. He began to wonder what it was that had done that or, for that matter had her so spooked. He felt the need to know.

He began dashing from tree to tree as Calintz took off in a sprint toward her. He noticed multiple people in the woods, as if waiting for them. This bothered him a great deal. He decided he would let Calintz take care of the girl while he kept the men out of the way. To that extent he dropped from the tree he was on, drawing his shamshirs on the way down. That would be his best bet for fighting off multiple enemies.

He landed softly behind his first target, running his shamshir through the man's kidney. Before the rest of the men could realize what had happened, the bloodlust he hated so much had taken over. He was on the next man before he could even reach his scabbard. As he did this he noticed one of the men running toward Calintz. He figured that particular individual could handle one man.

As he turned his attention back to the last two men he let out a guteral growl that seemed to reverberate off the air itself. They attacked with weapons that seemed to be handed down for generations, yet it wasn't very well taken care of. Their attacks, though, were very simple and therefore easy to turn away. He parried the first blow, moving away from the second. Fresh blood sprayed his face bathing him in a crimson shower. He moved quickly under the second man's blade, running his own under the man's ribcage, piercing his heart. Both men fell to the cold ground death talling upon them quickly.

Amon walked quietly out of the woods, licking some of the blood from his blades. He began to smile, not the warm smile of a friend, but the cold smile of a man who was accustomed to slaughter. He flicked his wrists quickly, ridding his blades of the blood that coated them and proceded to sheathe them with his usual grace. The crimson shine of the bloodlust still bright in his dark eyes.

Calintz the Doppelganger

Calintz slowed as he reached the inner area of the waystation, he noticed more men. He should have figured there would be more, then just the one that had attacked him. Lucky, Amon had seen everything as well and fought most of them off. The men all seemed dead, so that meant his captive was the only one still alive. He turned and glared at the man bond to the horse, questions had to be answered. He wasn’t sure the girl would be able to tell what happened without tears. The man would be questioned first, and he would talk. “Amon! Get First Wizard Zorander, she needs to be treated!” He yelled. He had no gift for healing, and he figured Amon didn’t either.

Calintz kicked up a door to a small building, apart from the waystation’s rooms. No need to throw her in there with sick soldiers. The room appeared to be used for storage, but he had a old bed in the back. He gently laid her in the bed, as a clone stepped out of his back.

The clone quietly walked out of the buidling and took the reins of the horse and started toward the stable. He unsaddled the horse after pushing the unconscious man to the ground. He let it go off and gaze then as he turned to the man. He tied him to a post and made sure he was bond on hands and feet. The clone stood up then and made a small smile as he slowly turned to dust and disappeared.

Calintz was still looking after the girl, he had been digging through the boxes of storage and managed to find a blanket which he used to cover her. He was now looking for some clothes. He sighed as he pulled out an old pair of pants and shirt. The clothes were meant for a boy, probably a stablehand, but they’d have to do. The girl needed some new clothes hers were torn badly. He laid them next to the bed and quietly slipped to the doorway and waiting for Zedd and Amon.

Chrisenelle allowed herself to be carried off by the man without fear of being harmed. If he had run to her aid, there was no way he could be an enemy. Suddenly her vision began tunneling inward and everything around her, all noises, all movement she felt became nothing more than a blur. She had forgotten about the cut on her stomach and the small cuts all up and down her arms and legs. She had barely the time to recall the shackles still tightly bound to her wrists and ankles, but she'd been freed from the chains that bound them together so that she could move more freely. She was losing plenty of blood from the wounds on her body, which added to the blood from the victims who'd been murdered before her eyes.
A low whimper escaped her throat as she fought off unconsciousness. She felt sudden warmth envelop her- and that was it. She passed out cold.

(Let me know if I did something wrong, I don't usually play as a female character)

Sarah wondered the bloody streets of Altur'Rang, the heart of the Imperial Order, then the first free city of the Old World, and now the forming heart of the Imperial Horde; with the taste of freedom lived and savored, the citizens will never be fully loyal to the new emperor.

Sarah had made her way to the plaza known as Liberty Square when she acroos a statue being defended by the last of the citizens, a losing battle for piece of stone. She strolled the stairs as the Horde soldiers finished their duty and were targeting the staute, the soldiers didn't waste time in toppling it and were finished bringing it to the ground in seconds.

She stood there, watching not the soldiers but the statue, a feeling of longing to see it standing and without blood all over it, but it was too late. She looked down at the base and saw its name, Spirit. She turned around and returned to the entrance, heading for emperor's tent. She had been away from his Excellency for too long now and knew he would be mad, she was looking forward to having the missing spot in his soul, an empty spot left there ever since she left to join the Sisters of the Light, filling it with pain was what would happen to her tonight.
-------------------------------
Yondaime watched two of the men go away, both of them returned. One was carring a yound girl and pulling a horse behing him, the other was covered in blood. He started to move when the whispers came to him again, "Protect... the... book... more... people... are... around..."

He snapped to attention and ran to where he had left his pack, "Damnit! Why didn't I know others were here?" he thought to himself and ran to the tree. A branch was broken onto the ground but his pack was still there. When he undid his spell and returned to normal, a man jumped out of the tree, a flail in his hands as he let out a battle cry. Yondaime reached up and caught the man's arm with the flail using his left hand then grabbed the back of the man's head with his other and slammed the attacked into the tree, he heard a crack as head was rammed into the bark.

The attacker fell to the ground, blood covered his face. Yondaime snapped the man's neck to ensure he was dead and grabbed his pack, he needed to be ready incase someone else attacked. This is why he always made his clothes out of gar and wolf, his two best killing forms. He found another tree and rested under it, "Damnit. Looks like I won't be getting much sleep tonight," he said to himself and leaned back.

Darken slowly rolled out of the hay, and crouched down next to the man Calintz had taken prisoner. He sighed, and shook his head, turning to the unconscious man. "Did you hear a cry of alarm? Did they fall back, or even check on The First Wizard, great-grandfather to the Lord Rahl? Because I have to tell you, I did not. What I heard was the sloppy fighting of people who continue to prove they've got the right of a diseased rat to be guarding the Lord Rahl. I swear, these foriegners. They think that because they want to be the steel against steel, they have some right to do it. What do you think, First Wizard?"

Darken didn't bother turn to look at the First Wizard, too busy looking over their new company and trying to see who he was. "I'd say I would hope for a good explanation for this, but that would be a lie. I'd say I hoped they survived long enough for me to yell at them, but that's a lie too, because it would just proved they're good at the way they do things, which will make it harder to teach them." He sighed.

"And this is why I personally approve of reassigning First File guards to the Lord Rahl and Mother Confessor. But of course, no one ever listens to the career soldier. That is, until the War is too far upon them to stop. Oh well. If they live, they'll learn. . . Hopefully."

Calintz the Doppelganger

PostPosted: Tue May 20, 2008 10:00 am
Calintz turned back and looked over at the girl from the doorway. He noticed suddenly that blood was appearing on the blankets he had wrapped around her. He cursed himself, and yelled toward Shadow who was perched on a piece of wood outside. 'Get First Wizard! Amon must still be fighting, which mean there is more enemies out there! No, time to keep your secret...." He muttered and as clones began to step out of him. he stopped creating them, when their number reached eight, counting himself.

Calintz kneel next to the girl and pulled a box closer, he torn it up and found nothing. He grabbed the second box and found what he was looking for. Bandages. He knew nothing about healing, but he could atleast wrap her wounds. He pulled the blanket away and set out to removing her clothes and bandaging her up. He then redressed her with new cleaner clothes that was sitting on a box.

The clones jumped out of the doorway, running off in different directions. One stopped and waited at the door to watch Calintz's back. Two ran off to join Amon, as two started back toward the stable, where Zedd and Darken were. One went looking for Hack, as the last one slipped into the trees to scout along the border of the waystation.

Shadow gracefully flew into the stable and landed and perched herself on a piece of wood, looking Darken in the eyes. She tilted her head, making sure she had his full attention. "I take it you're aware of the battle going on outside? And I have no time to explain how I can talk." She snapped the last bit off when she saw him opening his open. "Calintz is helping a young woman, who was being chased by those attacking us now. She is wounded badly, he is wrapping her with bandages, but she needs healing. He has sent clones out to help where its needed. Amon is defending the waystation, alone at the moment, but clones are one their way. Hack, I'm still unsure, I spotted him, but lost him when Calintz needed me." She told him, never giving him a chance to speak. "You may speak now." She told him after a moment, with a very noble woman voice. She had after all been a princess, before she was accused of plotting to kill her mother for the throne. She had been found innocent, and was changed into the form she has now.
PostPosted: Tue May 20, 2008 10:32 am
Darken waited a while, letting the bird talk on. He sighed. "First of all, yes, I know there's a battle going on outside, even though Calintz seems to have no idea what to do in this situation. If she needs healling, why didn't he bring her here, to where we have supplies and a wizard, not to mention someone else to help defend her? After all, we're sleeping here. Speaking of where's needed, did he bother to think about setting up a perimter here, or did he futher spread himself out, going to the fighting in different places?"

He stood up, and dusted himself off. "And for the record, a talking bird is not all that surprising, although you and Calintz are both getting a stern talking to for being stupid enough to keep that secret from me. And watch you don't swoop in anywhere around Lord Rahl or the Mother Confessor. I have a habit of imbedding knives in birds who do that. Friendly warning. Go tell Calintz to stop playing around and bring the girl here. Hack will, undoubtedly, be joinning us soon. Unless, of course, no one in this party knows protocols."

Calintz the Doppelganger

PostPosted: Tue May 20, 2008 1:53 pm
Shadow glared at Darken darkly. "First, the all knowing Darken Meiffert never mentioned were he was sleeping, nor did the First Wizard. He sent his clones to find everyone, he only knew where Amon was." She said dryly. "You're right about the perimter though, but I'm guessing that is because his tribe is unknowing about things. You should stop seeing him as one of your soldiers, who should know everything. He doesn't, he only knows how to be a blademaster." She continued on. "Another thing, his power is still knew. He is not use to it nearly enough as he says. The Spirit Woman wanted him here, so that he may learn more of it. She figured the First Wizard would know more about it. He didn't tell you this, because it was something only the Spirit Woman and I knew. And as for keeping my ability to speak a secret, I told Calintz to. I do not trust you, I didn't trust you fully when I was human either." She snapped the last bit at him. She turned head and flew out the window and circled the stable, and made a loud noise.

The two clones who had been sent to find Zedd and Darken, stepped out of the station it self. They had thought the First Wizard and his guard would be in there with the soldiers. They turned at the sound of Shadow's call and started toward the stable. They glared at each other. He had been at the stable to lock the prisoner down, but he hadn't sensed Zedd or Darken. "Thanks, Shadow!" They yelled as they slipped into the stable. Shadow had been sent to find them too, because she would have been faster. "Alright. First Wizard, Lord Meiffert, Master Amon, and the young Lady are accounted for. Master Hack is still unaccounted for." They said as one, they could see what the clone, who had been sent after Hack, could see. "A trail of dead enemies bodies as been found. Believe to be Master Hack's doing." They said. "The clone sent to scout the waystation border has report no sightings of enemies, but is still keeping watch." They continued, giving a full report. "The two clones sent to help Master Amon, have reported that less enemies are now attacking them." They said, finishing the report. They shook themselves, now they seen though their eyes instead of their clone brothers' eyes.

The two clones with Amon fought enemies that charged them. They moved gracefully and quickly. Their blades wiping about, in time to either parry or block an enemy attack, or wipe around for an attack of their own. The stood up and shook themselves when the their enemies stopped coming out of the forest and the ones at their feet were completely dead. One clone turned to look behind them, as the other gazed toward another direction.
