Because purple is the opposite of not purple. Purple isn't the opposite of not purple. Black would be closer to that, since it's not even a closer, but an absence of such a color. ^^;

Black would be closer to that, since it's not even a closer, but an absence of such a color. ^^; I've always found that strange since the day I learned that black was the absence of light, and not a true color. Especially since we use to use the word "colored" to describe "black people" I use to make my mom mad when I was a kid. I would say "White is a color, why are we not called colored?" I'm considered white on all legal documents, but my ancestry is Irish and Cherokee. Cherokee is not considered white, and for a long time Irish wasn't really either. Long ago the Irish were prone to stereotyping and discrimination, especially the Irish immigrants who poured into the US in the 1800-1900's

Well the Irish got to be white after the completion of the Railroad for some reason. Not really sure why no one else did. Although white isn't technically a color either, it's the presence of all colors. Although us europeans are more peach colored, then albino or pale. Unless you're a red head, then it can be different ninja

Also, once the railroads got more to the west the asians took our jobs! The asians were cheaper and didn't ask for union reps. We irish were doing jobs far cheaper, and living off of far less way before the asians or mexicans. Well it does totally suck with undercutting, but part of that is our own fault. Now unions are too powerful. I like the fact that the post office is cheaper then UPS, but I do NOT agree with people getting paid to do NOTHING! I mean in this economy how is that fair?! That money should be going towards unemployment! gonk
