Through extensive testing and research I have managed to determine that J, has it.
He's got... the shine. Is it true doctor? How long have I been plagued with this ill-gotten gift of awesomeness? D:

So I got through, like, every bit of Cave Story in the past two days.
First playthrough, I had machine gun, super missile launcher, fireball, and blade.
Second, snake, sml, bubbler, and nemesis.
Third, bubbler, sml, fireball, nemesis, and SPUR ******** YEAH.
Also, in the third playthrough I got the booster 2.0 and was able to spoiler spoiler and learned the main character's name.
But I got through the hidden last cave with little problem. I just have the undead core and the sacred ground.
