Both were half, their children were half, and my parents were half.
for the last 3 generations my family has been made up of almost half Irish half Cherokee except my cousins.
If a woman is half Irish and half Cherokee, then her offspring will receive 1/4 Cherokee and 1/4 Irish from their mother, so if the father is also alf Irish and half Cherokee then again the offspring will receive 1/4 Cherokee and 1/4 Irish from their father.
This will make another generation of half Irish and half Cherokee. The only difference is what part of Ireland or branch of the tribe the bloodlines consists of.
Even though a full blooded irish parent (great-great grand fathers in my family's case) or full blooded Cherokee parent (great-greatgramd mothers in my family's case) is not involved in making half Irish and half Cherokee, as long as the offspring and coming generations mate with similar pedigree, the bloodline can remain pretty much pure.
The only thing that could change anything is if a half Irish and half Cherokee's father (if assumed is the irish parent) comes from south Ireland where they might enjoy drinking more, so he is born with some kind of better tolerance (this is just a made up example) and the mother (if assumed is the cherokee parent) comes from the say the Cincinnati or Hamilton County area (OH), Frankfort or Fayette County area (KY) or Nashville or what ever county that is in area (TN) where their where on branch might have a trait for more shinny hair, or for bigger feet or something like that.
If you mated 50 pairs of dogs 25 Great dane and 25 golden retriever with the opposite breed of dog, and got 1 puppy from each couple (i know dogs have more but this is an example) then strictly breed those pups with the other pups that share similar pedigrees, then you will continue the purity of the half great dane and half golden retriever hybrid.
the only difference is what genes will become dominate, recessive, neutral, ect 8/25 of the pups of the origin breeding might look more dane then retriever, while the other 17/25 look more retriever then dane. the coming generations might see more dane looking offspring and the next might see a neutral appearance. as long as you keep inbreeding out of the equation nothing else will change.
