There was something one of the receptionists mentioned when talking with one of the residents about how those of us at the Front Desk often are "abused" by everyone we come in contact with. And she's totally right. Sometimes people don't always understand the lengths we go to get their appointments or rides set up. Or pass along their requests for assistance or delivery of items (like bath towels).

Or they always tell us about the issues they're having, often making it seem like we should the miracle cure for all. That we can miraculously make things right again. Some times we might be able to. But not all the time.

We're the ones that get the brunt of everyone's frustration/anger/etc. when we are just an innocent bystander getting caught in the middle.

I've never connected to the phrase "Don't kill the messenger" more since I started working here.

I have my good days, sure. But sometimes the bad days like to stack up together like dominoes and emotionally I can't handle it.

On a more cheerful note, we had our employee holiday party last night. It was a lot of fun hanging out with my co-workers. Enjoyed some delicious food from Olive Garden and drank Cranberry Ginger Ale. Came away with some nice gifts, between the White Elephant exchange and the random gift selection one. My co-worker didn't want the ornament she won from one of our other games ((this year we did the Left-Right Story gift game; she doesn't have a tree at her place)), so she ended up giving it to me.

Resident: "The bathroom is still closed?"
Me: "Yes. It's still getting cleaned."
Resident: "So, where am I supposed to go? To that one?" *points in the direction of the staff bathroom* "Or to my room?"
Me: "You'll have to use the room. That bathroom [referring to the one he pointed towards] is for staff only."

Empathic Mimicry is my new go-to superpower. I'm able to mimic others powers. Think Peter or Sylar from NBC Heroes ((actually the source of where I came to know of said power)). I've always liked the idea of the ability to fly.

If you were offered a Tome of Infinite Knowledge, a Wallet of Infinite Gold, or a Flask of Infinite Youth, which would you choose?

I think I would go with the Tome of Infinite Knowledge.

Money isn't everything. And the Critical Role cast brought up a good point when presented with this question, what do they mean by "infinite youth"? Does it mean you stay young (and live) forever - think vampire? Or does it mean you stay looking young but still pass away at your normal designated time?

Plus with the Wallet and Flask, if you loose them, it's gone forever. Where as with the Tome, even if you loose the tome itself, you could still retain whatever information you gathered from reading it.

If you guys had to pick a class for yourselves in real life, what class would you choose?

Honestly, the classes my first D&D character has is a direct reflection of myself. Druid is a reflection of my love for nature and being the "whisperer" among animals. Cleric because of my current job position... and also my mother's family's history of being involved with the church plays a part too.

You might be able to add in a bit of Bard too for my creative side?

Me: *waiting awkwardly listening to silence unsure if the person plans on saying more or is done with the call* *eventually hangs up*

Didn't even bother to tell me who they were... but I figured it's one of our residents. I think I know who it might be... but hard to say. *shrugs*
