The Dueling Arena ~The RP~

Brian sat down in a seat to watch the fight. His eyes seemed focused on something that wasn't there. Almost as if looking past the fight. His young child body had to peer up over the seat in order to get a better glimpse at what was going on down on the fighting floor. There was lots of magical energy flying around. He closed his eyes then and felt the electrical pulsing that the energy was make his hairs stand up on end. He opened his eyes wondering if there was anyone else watching the fight.

((Actually by "Pure Energy" is actually just what it says, somewhat like what you see off of DBZ or what they use for light sabers. Sorry if I confuse you too much sweatdrop .))

Saito gave a slight sigh as he powered up another orb of energy in his right hand and he held it out and fired off a small beam of energy at them.

((Oops, sorry. I should've realized it was more like something off of DBZ...))

The two mawers heading for Saito were knocked back by the beam of energy, seriously damaged but not outright destroyed. Meanwhile, a handful of the others came to their senses and charged at Saito, one of them bounding into the path of the energy beam and getting knocked back like the other two. A couple others went around and were right up next to Saito with their toothy mouths open to bite him, by the time he finished firing the beam.

((Ack! Sorry, kleptor, the fight you're referring to is not what's actually going on in the main arena above ground... There was a kidnapping, and Saito went with a couple not-so-useful-in-battle NPCs down into the basements of the arena to attempt a rescue... Let me do something so that Brian can actually watch from the arena seating...))

Andre came out from a door in the side of the arena, returning to the seating area. Seeing that a little boy had arrived while he'd stepped out, he walked up to him.
The extra-tall man in a business suit looked down at the lad, smiled, and said:

"How do you like it? It's a new holographic projection system that we might use sometime to broadcast highlights or instant replays.
Right now it's working off of cameras in the basements. I turned it on to keep an eye on things, and because I love to watch a good fight, too."

The real creatures in the arena which had been left behind, some flying salmon ridden by lobsters, had been surprised by the sudden appearance of the holographic battle below them and had gone off to one side to sulk in the miniature storm-cloud they'd conjured earlier.

Brain looked up at the business man and smiled gently nodding. It had seemed so real to him at the time. Brain felt around his clothing and then made a gesture that looked as if he was writing with an invisible pen on invisible paper. Looking up longingly as if he needed something. He didn't know a lot of words only important ones.

Andre smiled down at the boy, pulling out a small pad of paper and a fancy ballpoint pen engraved with a letter A.
Offering them to (Brain/Brian?) with his big hands, he said:

"Does this help?"

((and was the name Brain, or Brian? I'm getting confused now))

((Brian... I have a bad habit of making spelling mistakes that can't be picked up off of spell check. According to it brain is spelled correctly when in fact it doesn't fit context.))

BRIAN Grabbed it and wrote softly. GOOD THING. Then he made a space below it and wrote: FOOD? Then he handed it back. His handwriting was neat and rigid as if typed out. Brian knew every word that was spoken to him but he was just learning how to write words And didn't know how to spell some of them or write others. He tried to learn from people reading things out loud. He took out his mp3 player which had been given to him by someone of great power. If you could sense such things the mp3 player would have given off a strange energy. He showed it to the man smiling.

Saito winced slightly but sighed "These are nothing more than a nucance."
He grabbed two that were on him and began to form an orb of energy in his hands.

Andre smiled down at the boy. He looked at the MP3 player, but to him it just looked like an MP3 player. Reading what Brian had written, he said:

"Oh, we have popcorn and sodas for everyone who comes to watch the battles! I'll go get some!"

Andre then went off to get the snacks. He would have sent Raul or BillBob to do it, but they were in the basement... and the other BillBob had been sent out on an errand away from the arena.


Meanwhile, in the first basement level, BillBob watched Saito grab the two mawers and marveled that the man didn't seem too concerned. Raul wasn't as concerned now, either, since he had made it out of the reach of the snapping creatures, and most of them were turning their attention on the newcomers anyway.

"Raul! Toss me one of those brooms! No, wait, the metal scrub-brush hanging on the wall by you! Yeah, that one!"

Raul grumbled a little, muttering something about BillBob wanting him to fall off of the cage he was on, but he reached out to snag the scrub-brush that was hanging just within his reach. Raul tossed it awkwardly over Saito's head (which it narrowly avoided hitting), and the twelve-year-old readheaded BillBob standing on the stairs behind caught it just in time to beat back a mawer that had made its way around to come at him.

Saito held up the two metallic monsters in his hands and they were red hot and more than likely dead. he tossed one of them at another one while completely incinerating the one in his right hand with a larger orb of energy and then it receded and he drew out his katana witch was glowling slightly blue.

Brain whipped through the popped corn and soda quickly. He hadn't eaten in a while. He tossed the empty carton and soda in the seat next to him and looked at the man smiling a thanks to him licking his buttery fingers. He only thing that upset him was that there wasn't any real food here.

By now the rest of the mawers (about 6 or 7, I think?) had noticed Saito and they all headed for him at once, snapping their jaws and bouncing crazily.

Meanwhile, Billbob was having trouble with the mawer attacking him. It had bitten a chunk off of the metal scrub-brush, and the boy was trying to think of something else to try, while still repeatedly knocking the persistent critter back.

Raul thought he was being helpful, but all he was doing was standing on the top of the cage he was on shouting useless directions at the other two.

Seeing how quickly Brian tore through the snacks, Andre smiled and said:

"Hungry, aren't you?"

Then it occurred to him it might be more than the usual hunger of a kid between meals.

"Hey kid, are you OK? How long has it been since you ate an actual meal?"

Saito gave a slight sigh and he completely had cut through two of them with one swing without any problem and he got bit in the leg by one and he had practicly dodged the others. "This area is hardly enough for me to dodge anything so lets hurry up and kill of the rest of these things."

He put up 2 fingers his stomach growling a little. He was used to this though and the pain wasn't so bad. He put his fingers down and nodded softly. It was for 2 days but he doubt the man knew that unless he had some sort of telepathy. brain fingered his mp3 player never fully trusting anyone until he had spent significant time around them. This man so far seemed alright though.

((Down in the basements...))
BillBob nodded, agreeing with Saito.

"Yeah, I'm tired of these things too... I'm sure Christie wouldn't want them all killed off, but...
Whatever. She can hunt down some more later."

The boy used what was left of the long-handled scrub-brush to pole-vault over the few mawers that were left, and ran down the room a little, waving the brush and shouting.
All but one followed him now, and he headed for a stone block cemented into the floor, with metal rings in it for attaching chains to.
At the last moment before the mawers caught up with him, BillBob dodged behind the block so that the mawers bit chunks out of it instead of out of him.
They started to bounce around it to get at him, but seemed to stall and... suddenly they started to break into pieces.

"They can't digest masonry."

BillBob explained, grinning ear to ear and sweeping the broken mawers aside.

Andre squatted down to where he wouldn't have to look down so much to talk to the boy. He heard Brian's stomach growling, so maybe the two fingers meant more than two hours? But two days would be absurd... Andre had a hard time imagining anyone would let a little kid go hungry for that long.
Oh, well. What mattered was that the boy was hungry.

"Do you like sandwiches, kid? What's your name, anyway?"

He held out the pen and paper again in case Brian wanted to write an answer.

((by the way, kleptor, is your character Li who's in the Market's Place supposed to be near the others? It's a busy place with lots of shops and people, and Li hasn't done much to draw attention to himself... does he want somebody to talk to him?))

He scribbled Brian and Ham on the piece of paper and handed it back to the man smiling. On the bottom of the page there was in small letters the word days. Then he smiled again stomach rumbling. He hoped there was something to drink too. Something cold.

((Li is extremely co-dependant. He would need someone to come over to him. He doesn't speak unless spoken to ever))
