Once his name was signed, he turned towards Riley as she seemed to have snapped out of her little daze from before and was signing as well. However, something still seemed a little off with her. She didn't seem to be nearly as angry as she was when these forms were first mentioned. There was also something in the way she was staring at Arel.
"You ok there Riley?" he asked while raising a brow. His gaze shifted to Shehk momentarily before he turned back to his best friend.

Nobody had corrected him. Arel had, in fact, affirmed it. Further field trips were...optional? Volunteering for more work, more walking, more visits to islands filled with madness-inducing fog where Halloweeners were either destroyed or...turned into weapons, somehow. Mandy had told him. One of the hooded figures from the lighthouse had said it. And from what they had seen at the abandoned laboratory...
But could he really stand aside while his friends and fellow students were sent to their deaths, or worse? Choose to do nothing, even knowing the cost?
Hell yes he could.
This was not, however, about them. Well, not directly about them.
Even on that last Field Trip, they had been afforded a sort of safety. Numbers. Where there were other students, there was always someone else to take what could have been a fatal blow, to discover the room is not as harmless as advertised, to help him, push him, carry him.
But against a long, scattered family line of decidedly dead sloth demons? Fulfilling his father's machinations? And if his own machinations went awry, his...career, alright, yes, career as an inventor? He was alone.
If he couldn't survive Field Trips, with the meager (but currently essential) cushioning the student body afforded, he wouldn't survive the rest.
But there was so much walking.
He cleared his throat. He could put off making the decision a little while longer. "...Thank you," he said, standing and backing away from the filled forms, bleak stares, and signed names. "I'll err, take advantage of the interim."
Barth pocketed his form, and made his slow way towards the office door.

Jove missed the little meeting in the office, arriving just in time to join his fellow second years before they dispersed, and puzzle over the serious faces. It didn't take the pup's keen senses to know something not good had just happened. He made his way towards where his brother sat, scanning the faces of the other students as he went. So everyone here had made it through their exams?
The pup felt a momentary burst of pride for being among the group to successfully move onto the next year of studies, but it was squelched in an instant when he caught sight of a pale, stitched face. A familiar stitched face. The incident with the log and that terrible foggy room was still fresh in the pup's mind, and he veered off to the side only to bump into Riley. To whom he gave a short tail wag in greeting, along with Calder and Malodore nearby. He could also see Bul in the crowd, and Yaya and Tybalt, but he decided it would be wise to get caught up on matters before going to see all his friends. Trotting over to Ren, his ears perked, as though asking the gryphon what he had missed.

Tsetsiliya's lips pressed together in a firm line, eyes averted to the waiver in her hands as Arel spoke. Well what he said was probably true, whether or not anyone in the room wanted to admit it - and by the looks of things, quite a few people had something to say about this. There was no way she could avoid going on these trips entirely, especially if she wanted to get stronger.
She wanted to become a proper demoness, and if these field trips were the avenue to that, well then .. Her hand scribbled her name quickly, so as to do it before her mind caught up. Tsetsiliya Setting the pen down shakily, she passed it forward with the rest. Now that they were given permission to go, she dipped her head and nudged between passing students on her way out the door. The ghoul hoped that that signature won't be something she came to regret.

Ren had been staring at the field trip form so intently, with a look of abject horror on his face, his arm casually slung around LW's shoulders, that he had not noticed that Jove had finally made it to the meeting. It wasn't until the boil was right beside him that Ren jerked out of his rather stupefied state, staring down at Jove as if seeing him for the first time.
"Oh," he said, his voice slightly rough, his face rather pale, though he attempted a smile, reaching out to ruffle the boil's hair affectionately, but if Jove had been paying attention, he would have noticed that his brother's hand was shaking, just a little, before he dropped it.
He did not want to sign that paper. The memories of the previous field trip slammed back into his mind, as if it had happened only yesterday, as fresh and horrific as they had been the first time. Ren's gaze flickered briefly to those around him, taking in the disgruntled looks, the grudging signatures on the ledger as they each signed. They were all second years now, capable of handling much more than they had before. Wasn't that the way it was supposed to be?
He forced a smile down at Jove. "Field trip forms," he said, a little weakly, and pushed himself to step forward, tucking the sheet of paper into his pocket. He could not sign it; not now, not yet. For now he just gave LW the same forced smile, waved at Jove, then followed Barth's example and slipped from the room without saying yes or no.

OH JACK NO! Was this seriously what Arel was saying it was? They were actually asking for their signatures and permission to go on those Jack forsaken field trips? The she-wolf stared, or rather scowled down at the sheet of paper, tail flicking against her leg. Not even the comfort of her best friends arm around her shoulders was going to chase away the feelings she had right now. Mostly angst and utter disbelief that they were just now being given such forms. At least...she couldn't remember ever having gotten one before. Which was curious. Why now?
Probably because they've realized how stupid and hellish they are? Or the last field trip had opened some eyes? There was no telling. And judging from the other reactions, she was not alone in her feelings of receiving this waiver form.
Thankfully, Ren's voice drew her attention momentarily away before she ended up balling the sheet of paper up. Her fingers tapped against the sheet as her violet gaze glanced towards Jove. "Run while you can, pup. They actually want us to sign a sheet that gives our consent to go on those Jackdamned trips of hell." LW offered the pup a small smile that lacked any real warmth. She was still unsettled by this. Her hand squeezed Ren's before he got up to slip out of the office without making a decision yet. The she-wolf remained though, staring at the sheet in front of her. It still nagged at her as to why they all of a sudden wanted them to sign these now?
After way too much time (only several minutes really) of staring and debating, the she-wolf stood slowly. She glanced around at the others, before quietly walking out of the office. The consent form still on the desk she'd been sitting at, with small neat writing along the signature line reading 'Little-Wolfe'. Hopefully she hadn't made the wrong decision, though she wasn't sure there was a right one in this instance. With their luck, they'd end up on another field trip with or without having signed the consent form.

Something about Arel's jump to assertion convinced the half beast that this wasn't a ploy to throw them to the sharks for the inevitable replay value that surely the staff had somewhere on tape. Bul rolled the question in his mind for a moment or two before coming to the realization that he really did think that everything was safe outside of the Academy. But he knew better now, that was for certain. If anything, field trips outside of Halloween Town meant walking into your own death sentence. It made sense that Arel was speaking words of wisdom.
After all, who was it that showed up first in the dark cove alongside the few surviving snots?
Well.. not that he did anything but it was Arel.
"Alright." Bul finally spoke as he watched his fellow students sign their lives away. If they could do it... he could do.
With a swish of the haunted pen he signed the rest of his name and sighed as he handed it in.
Unstabul.
Bul then turned to see if Mei had stayed behind to sign hers. He'd seen her enter the room but wasn't ready to interupt Arel nor shove his way through the others turning theirs in.
((yes I said he signed it last post, but this one is with a little less "oh ******** me" xD))

Riley. Her eyes flickered away from Arel before he could look up at her, but she focused them right back on the secretary.
"Riley?"
Her expression puckered slightly, trying not to feel guilty about ignoring the voices, both inside and out of her mind, that were vying for her attention. She was waiting, but Arel wasn't looking up at her, and she realized too late that she was waiting in vain.
There were nothing left to do but what she'd planned on doing before she had even walked in the door. She took a spare sheet of blank paper from Arel's desk - maybe now he would look up at her, with the brazen act - and took the pen, returning to her seat.
Which was Calder.
She sat down, nodding quickly to both Shehk and Jericho. She would have said something to them both, but it was clear she was more distracted than she had ever been in her entire life. For someone whose brain can handle multiple complex equations simulateously, this was a feat.
She sat, and wrote a letter to the headmistress.

Other students went to sign the permission slip, and all the while, Riley had been completely silent. He noticed her glancing to Shehk briefly which brought his attention to her for the moment, but he soon looked back as she went to sit on Calder again.
Something was wrong. Something was eating at her.
He could tell that much. What Jericho couldn't tell though, was what was going on. It wasn't long ago that she objected to all of this. Did she get some sort of revelation between then and now?
Frowning, he watched her while she began to write something out on a blank slip.
"Hey... Riley.." he said while making his way over. The dragon looked to see if Malodore was still in the room. If so, then maybe it could help out here.

Riley didn't look up from her letter, nor did she ignore her best friend. She just continued writing as her even tone answered.

Staring down at the paper, Jericho tried to see what she was writing, but he didn't really have a good view of it.
"You seem... a little distracted. Are you feeling alright?"

She wasn't hiding her letter, if only because it was formal, and held nothing out of the ordinary. As she flourished her signature at the bottom, she picked it up to re-read it to herself for consistency.Letter to the Headmistress Dear Headmistress Shox:I hope this letter finds you in good health. I would like to speak with you at your earliest convenience concerning a matter that has come to my attention. It is of the greatest urgency, though it may seem odd for a student to say that. Still, I do hope you take a moment to speak with me. I promise I will be brief, and not waste your time. I know how valuable it is. Sincerely Yours, Riley2nd Year Nodding in approval, she folded the letter twice, addressed it, and dropped it off right in the middle of Arel's paperwork load. She didn't expect him to look up - or care - this time around. She did, however, expect the letter to be delivered.
Eventually.
She turned, finally prepared to give Jericho her attention, and patted his cheek softly. Her expression lifted in lieu of a smile, but the smile did not reach her eyes.
Never better. I'm heading back to my dorm now. You should too.
She turned slightly, sent Malodore a gentle nudge of affection, and then turned to leave.

All that Jericho was able to pick up was that it seemed to be addressed to Hellma. That piqued his curiosity for sure. But, now that was done, Riley was actually acting more normally. Mostly. The concern for her was still there, but he just made a note to check up on her later on. Now likely wasn't the place to talk about it.
"Alright," he nodded before leaving the office as well.

Junko had missed the office meeting. She'd been so wrapped up in doing last minute final touches on Shehk's commissions that she'd completely blanked on the entire thing. But you don't understand, she'd been in the zone, man! She was in her natural element sewing away without a care in the world. Sayuri and Kuro had been quite distracting, having missed their mommy so much they were elated to be out of the closet and free to prance and roam and try to get their mommy to play with them. But she wouldn't. She didn't even notice them. She had finished enough things for Shehk to wear about, but she had more she wanted to make. So. Much. More. And nothing was going to stop her from doing that! Not even monetary limits! She'd..she'd figure out something! She was reserving the silks Lizzy and Riley had given her, as well as the silks that she had found mysteriously left in front of her dorm when she returned, for herself. Call it selfish but she wanted to save those for her own creations for her to wear. Didn't Junko earn the right to be selfish every now and then?
It wasn't until Yaya had visited her to catch up and inquire about her vacation that Junko had remembered..she'd missed the entire meeting. Well, crap. At least the marid had been nice enough to fill her in on everything she'd missed and even given her copies of the proper form she needed to fill out. A field trip. A field trip they needed to sign a waiver on.
This wasn't a good sign.
Junko wasn't sure if she wanted to go. Should she go? Perhaps. She needed the experience. She needed to get stronger. And apparently she needed to prove she could take care of herself, that she didn't need everyone to treat her like she was made of glass. She..she wasn't made of glass. She was strong. She could do it. Seiji only spurred her on, the two had argued for hours about the field trip. She didn't want to go, but she did at the same time. He definitely didn't want her to go at all. But she had to. He didn't trust the trip, and as much as he claimed it to not be true Junko felt he...didn't trust in her. It made the hesitation to not go completely dissipate; Junko was determined to go on the Jackdamned field trip now even after they had come to an impasse.
She was still a little angry when she signed the waiver much later than everyone else, mostly because she was thinking about the way she had had to basically fight for permission to go on this trip. She was sixteen years old! She could make her own damn decisions! She didn't need anyone's permission...
Junko
She just hoped she wouldn't come to regret this. She left after that, not wanting to linger in the office if she could help it. There. She did it. She signed the waiver.

Alright. He usually didn't take any notice to how Riley was feeling or reacting, but it was rather hard not to when said person was sitting on your lap. From being calm and socializing, then being angry, and then suddenly going rigid, he was wondering what the heck was going on just as much as anyone else. Still, he was just as concerned - but not because of her but what Arel was saying. This wasn't a mandatory field trip. This was a choice. This was volunteering to sign yourself up for horrible things. Maybe even WORSE things from what was being implied, but it also was presented as being cowardly if not stupid for not participating. As if chickening out made you selfish and unprepared. Sure, Calder hear that the human world was a scary place that had dangers like being turned into someone's ride against his will, but the island was just as scary. Was going to more frightening places and getting killed toughening him up? All Calder knew was that he failed to do much damage to anything during what few battles he was in, and for the most part, had himself and his friendships tested was more times than he liked. Traumatized and riddled with nightmares of his own from that island, he had to wonder just how many more places they had lined up for the student body.
He'd sink in his seat if he was able, but instead was under the rigid weight of Riley. The only explanation as to why the ghoul might be tense was the same reason every one else was. Scary places you had a choice to sign up for. It might also be the fact that Malodore had signed up without thinking - or maybe he did think and wasn't afraid. Jack. Malodore had balls. Calder was mighty impressed. Then, following suit, Riley FINALLY got up and did the same. That he didn't mind, but what connections it had made him worry. If Malodore and Riley were signing up, no doubt Christof would, and he glanced up at his friend wondering just what was going through the patchwork's head at the moment.
And as if he was nothing more than a chair now and not a flipping student, Riley sat on him AGAIN! "Oh come on." He said, but it seemed no one cared. Sure. Fine. Everyone sit on his lap. He didn't have plans or feelings.
Frowning, he wanted to tug on those stupid head noodles of hers but it seemed Jericho's concerned expression meant the other side of the ghoul that the boil was looking at was not right. WTF Riley? He hoped she wasn't having a shock moment and was going to be planted on his lap. It didn't last long as the ghoul seemed to be writing something, but no matter now far Calder leaned, he couldn't read it. It certainly wasn't a love letter and after she got up again, Calder slipped over to another chair and watched the ghoul place a letter on the secretaries desk. He had to wonder why.
Still, soon the party was leaving, and Calder remained seated, before looking over at Christof. "You're going to sign up because she did, right?" He was frowning at his friend.
