His claws closed around the bunny, whisking it up and off the floor to be dropped into the jar. That was one. The lid snapped closed, half-twisting it to secure it. Merope stared at the creature within the jar, his fins twitching as a faint stirring of a suppressed and forgotten instinct stirred within him. What was he doing? The class wasn’t about boats, but why was he moping?

His eyes took on a new glow as he scanned the room, locking his gaze on a dust bunny. The jar was set down and pushed against the wall, out of the way. Merope shifted until he was on his toes and fingertips, fins down against his back. He tensed, then lunged towards his target!

His hands slapped the dust bunny down, pushing it down as Merope pounced on it. Only he did not stop there -- his momentum carried him up and over the creature, his hand squeezing shut to take it with him as he rolled and crashed into someone’s desk. “Ow! Sorry! Sorry!” He called as he flailed, attempting to wiggle himself upright. The desk in question was kicked a couple of times before Merope managed to climb to his feet, his fins lowered and held close to his body in embarrassment.

Well, so much for trying that. Merope retreated back to his jar, stuffing his recent catch inside. Pouncing was out of the question now. As quick as he could, he skittered back to his desk in retreat.

But... he was still one dust bunny short. Merope left his jar on the desk as he looked around, kneeling on the floor once again. He didn’t need to go far -- there was a dust bunny peering at him from the inside of his desk. Merope made a quick snatch at it.

His hand made contact with the back of the desk, wincing and pulling his hand back. Merope whined as he shook his fist out. Blowing on it didn’t help it hurt less either.

Merope glared at the dust bunny that still lingered in his desk, making another wild grab at it.

Success! Merope allowed himself a celebatory grimace as he pulled the fuzzy thing from his desk. He kept a hold of it as he pulled his glass jar close, unscrewing the cap and opening his hand to drop the bunny in. The dust bunny didn’t fall. Merope tried shaking it off, and ended up being forced to scrape his hand against the inside rim of the jar, his half-lips frowning as deeply as possible as he replaced the jar.

Merope returned to slouching in his seat, rubbing his hand against his shorts in a vain attempt to get rid of the sensation of holding it. “Ugggh! So gross,” he whined to nobody in particular, turning is palm to face up in order to pick the stray bits of lint off one piece at a time.

SENTIENT DUST

EVERYWHERE

Malodore scooted back its chair and stood up as fast as it could; the abandoned chair teetered and fell over. The plague doctor hated dirt, hated dust, and while it could tolerate it on others the idea of it getting dirty without its express agreement was... ick. It snatched up a jar with the rest of them, then scooted back as the other students began chasing, diving, and otherwise causing utter chaos in the classroom.

It only began its work once some of the dust had settled, and there was less risk of getting inadvertantly stomped by overenthusiastic classmates. Still, it seemed that no matter how many dust bunnies had already been contained, there were always more remaining. Malodore flinched as it felt something soft and dusty brush against its hoof... under its coat. With a quick movement it swished its coat aside and tried to pin the erstwhile dust bunny with one hoof.

Fortunately, its aim was true and it managed to shove the thing into its jar without getting too much dust on itself.

The plague doctor looked up from its first capture just in time to see a flick of gray vanish into its desk, where it would no doubt gunk up its notes. Its precious notes.

OH NO IT DIDN'T.

Malodore sprang (in as much as a plague doctor can spring) at the desk and reached in, trying to wrap its claws around the wriggling dusty thing. The dust bunny squirmed out of its reach, then spat a plume of dust out at Malodore, but fortunately such tactics didn't work well on those who didn't need to breathe. The second bunny soon found itself sharing a jar with the first.

Still, despite everything, Malodore still felt the most absurd urge to cough.

One left. Malodore straightened and peered around the classroom, eyes narrowed behind its lenses. Its movements were quick and birdlike as it scanned the room... and ah, yes, there was a bunny in a puddle. It was oddly large, as if it had absorbed some of the water and plumped up like a sponge.

The plague doctor crept towards it, then easily bent down and swooped the thing into the jar. It made a protesting sound, as did the other too as they, too got wet and plumped up a bit as well, but Malodore cared not. It screwed the lid on the jar and plopped the whole thing down on the desk with a highly satisfied air.

Before Amrita could fully process what was going on, the entire class exploded with activity. Dust things were EVERYWHERE, her fellow classmates were EVERYWHERE ELSE, and, Unholy Jack, it was chaos! Complete Chaos! The Patchwork scampered to collect a jar of her own, and set to try and avoid all of her other classmates' catching attempts to make one of her own.

She spotted one gnawing on the corner of a desk, and she approached it with all the grace of a bald hunter looking for rabbits: None. Luckily this dust bunny was a little too preoccupied gnawing on things to notice, and was easily scooped up in the jar.

OKAY. One down, a couple more to go! Or so she imagined. Covering the jar, she held it close and looked around, trying to spot another one; there was so much going on, it was...rather overwhelming! Jack be damned! She looked under things, over things, around other things...and then? She spotted one.

She stared at it.

It stared at her.

The bunny flung itself at her with what she imagined was a battle cry, but before it could hit her it hit the glass bottom of the jar, moved thankfully to catch the little beast at the last moment.

WOO TWO DOWN! That last one was a pretty lucky catch for her! She beamed proudly, looking around to make sure nobody was watching her before she shook the jar a little, jostling the creatures inside. Sadly she felt instantly guilty over it, and peeked into the jar to murmur an apology to the evil bunnies.

She looked around, trying to find another easily catchable one...and spotted one, sitting on Willow's back. The Byakko was a stranger to the Patchwork-Vetala, but that didn't quite matter to her; she stalked, and before long she swatted the other ghoul's back. The dustbunny was startled and flew right into the waiting jar, where she gave a victorious cheer.

"WOOOO! GOTCHA!" Then the shy set in, and she hugged the jar to her, recalling what she just did. "Err--- I'm sorry, just...there was a bunny..." She apologized to Willow, looking rather meek.

Huni Pi

"I..am doing well enough," Lattice said in response to Petro some of her built up grumpiness melting away due to his presence near by. If friends made you calm and happy then she wanted more of them all around her. She smiled slightly and held up her jar uttering a soft, "I hope...having them in the jar like this is alright."

The trio lay limply at the bottom and looked quite dead, though it was possible that they were faking it. "...They impaled themselves on my needles," she explained to Petro the flat displeased tone returning to her voice.

She looked over at Hel and offered a soft, "Congratulations." As well, it was really quite impressive how effortless the Valkyrie made it look!

Riley, having caught her fluffs with minimal trouble or dismay, sat as still as the grave in her chair and watched the madness.

Unbenownst to her, fluffs kept falling onto her crystals and impaling themselves. Her wings were currently littered with the corpses of dust bunnies.

Willow blinked suddenly squeaking as someone swatted her back and then yelled something about gotcha! Her eyes were large as she looked back at the patchwork. "Oh...." Obviously being in the back of the class wasn't quite safe. She smiled slightly, "I-it's okay."

She nodded softly looking curiously at Amrita. "Thank you for getting that bunny off my back."

Everyone else seemed like they for the most part had caught three.

It would seem that Charlie was not so lucky right now. He went for a dust bunny and completely missed.
