Could Be Worse [Awesome x Mayah]

"Yes, I did," she replied, laughing. "And by the way, she didn't let him rude her until the wedding night. What kind of horse do you think she was?"

"Hmm, well tell me another story before I get that lovely image stuck in my head." Alcott grumbled while breathing out some smoke.

 

[Mayah Playah]

"Oh nu uh, it's your turn to tell me story," she replied, poking his arm. "And, just so you know, I would love a Michaela story."  

[Its Smiley]

"What?" Alcott gave her a look. "I don't remember saying I'd give you a story. You brought that upon yourself." he said and breathed in more of his cigarette. "Besides, I'm not good at thinking up stories on the dot."

"Here, I'll start you off. Once upon a time, there was a young lady-in-waiting to the queen, who went by the name of Michaela."  

[Its Smiley]

"Aww, did somebody want to be a princess when they grow up?"

She rolled her eyes. "Oh please. When I was little, I wanted to be- oh, just finish the story."  

[Its Smiley]

"I told you, I'm bad at making up stories." Alcott said. "I can't think of anything."

 

[Mayah Playah]

"What did you love the most about my parents?" she asked suddenly.  

[Its Smiley]

Alcott nearly tripped over himself at the question. What he liked most about his parents... All he could remember about them was their constant fighting, including the one that ended both of their lives and forced him and his brother onto the streets. "...Nothing at all." he finally answered with a dark look on his face.

 

[Mayah Playah]

"O-oh..." Laying a hand on his shoulder, she looked up at him. "Did you have anything good about your childhood?"  

[Its Smiley]

Alcott stopped and tipped his head to the side to think about it. He seemed lost in thought for a while, a pained look in his sea eyes. "Actually yes." he finally said then looked down at her. "When I met your parents."

 

[Mayah Playah]

"You really loved them, didn't you?" she asked quietly.  

[Its Smiley]

"'Course." he said with a nonchalant shrug of his shoulders. "If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be here right now." And with that he carried on walking. The sun was above their heads by then, and the heat was at its fiercest.

 

[Mayah Playah]

"Thank God for them, then," she muttered, putting a foot between them. "I-I mean...they loved you too. More than me, sometimes."
