I think you have gremlins.
I tend not to care for carrot-top too much, mostly because my brother is a carrot-top and it doesn't really look good on him. XD;; Strangely enough though, carrot-tops are often my favorite characters in books and such.
We only had one older person pose in our class; most of the models were college students.
I actually have no idea where Goodwill is located; I'm just being lame. <3
For me, I didn't really know what 'anime' was while I was all into Sailor Moon and Pokemon. I think around fifth grade, when I was getting into Tenchi, I realized it was Japanese cartoons all in a specific style, because I ended up seeing one of the Tenchi movies in Japanese. I started studying Japanese around that time too. By the time I fell for YUU*GI*OU, I was in seventh grade I think, so I already knew it was anime and all of that; it just happened to become my favorite, and never left that spot.
Yes, that's Satoshi. <3 He does kind of look like Noa in looks, but I'd say if comparing him to a YUU*GI*OU character in personality, he's most like Kaiba, except more quiet and less of a cocky a*****e; like he doesn't do maniacal laughs or anything. XD
Oh, Gravitation... the awkwardness of that series... I pity the people who were introduced into yaoi through it.
Yeah, like with DNAngel I think the case was that the anime got to its budget point while the manga wasn't even done yet, so it just ended at a good point in the manga (kind of like Yami no Matsuei, where it was definitely a resolution, but just not an ending that tied up the entire series). I am quite fond of filler though, at least within YUU*GI*OU. <3
Dark? Yes, he is quite pretty. ^^

Well...I've been kicked off repeatedly and can't stay on for more than a minute for awhile now, but let's see if I can respond and post tonight (if not I'll just save and post when I can *prays to internet Gods*)

Gremlins huh? KILL THEM!!!

Well, my mom has red hair (not orange, red) and one of my first crushes was a carrot top. Actually the color suits him, he cuts it horribly though, ahh well, not into him anymore so I don't care.

I don't know if the universities don't want to hire college students or if we in Norcal just don't want to bare it for our peers (at least not if we are leaving documented evidence behind), but they are usually hired middle aged models.

Hahahaha, s'ok, lameness is awesome! I'm pretty sure Japan would have equivalents of thrift stores of some sort, Goodwill specifically I think is just trademarked here. Now the Salvation Army might be another story.

Yea, anime became kind of big as a thing when I was in HS, and I went to a very large HS though so it was very easy for me to not notice what was around. My life was contained to band and swimming, and my few middle school friends (who were mostly dance/forensics types come to think of it).

I figured you meant in personality, but it was just funny how he kinda reminded me of Noa.

HAHAHA! Yea Gravitation was something I started a couple of years ago because my friend really liked it back when, I finally got curious. It was cute, but yes, very awkward and weird. I think I like the anime better - first it's about bands so you get the music in the anime. And it just seems to flow better. Hmm...gosh, I think FMA is what introduced me into yaoi, don't quote me on that, but Royed is probably what got me actively into that.

Yea, I don't mind endings I guess that could be continued off of but aren't in the middle of a specific point. I still kind of hate that though, especially when a manga series does finish and it's wonderful and you are like, damn I'd love to see this! I loved how Host Club ended though, even more because I've been really iffy on the manga (haven't read in awhile), I just don't like the direction it's going off in, it's too dramatic and negative. It's depressing and I liked it as a light series sooooo, I'm just not sure. We'll see, I still like it and I love the characters so I definitely will go back to it when I have time. Well, depending on those Gremlins ~_~. I did not like how Loveless ended, it was supposed to be an "end" yet leave room to pick it up later maybe (which I would really like because GAH, I would love to see some of that animated), but the whole premises to that finally episode was just ridiculous.

Very pretty.

Ok, internet Gods, I'm ready to submit, what say ye?

That's too bad, having all old, flabby models. D: Not like the college students can't use the money.
Anime has never been big in any of my schools or groups of peers; closest I've ever got to that was the fourth grade year where everyone was super into Pokemon, but by fifth grade Pokemon was out and Harry Potter was in. XD Oh, the little conformists. I was always just good at sniffing out the rare anime fans hiding here and there, and now have ended up with most of my close friends being very much into it.
Yeah, I preferred the Gravitation anime as well. The manga just got toooo weird (like way weirder than the anime even) and confusing. Especially with that new 'series' they have where Yuki went temporarily blind, OH THE DRAMA. I think it was the first yaoi manga I tried out, but not what got me into the yaoi fandom, thank god. That was Puppyshipping fanfics. <3
I agree; I mean, it's better that they at least try to end series at good points, but I really would just prefer if it followed the manga to the end... except with Host Club; I also agree that the anime ending was wonderful and the manga just isn't pulling it off like it was. Also feel similar for Yami no Matsuei, though I'm still eager for more manga to come out for that. XD;;
I never read the Loveless manga, just saw the whole anime and it confused the s**t out of me. Like... I still don't get it at all. And at the end, my friends and I were like... trying to find more episodes, like, "Is there anymore on this disk? Are you sure that's the last disk; are we missing one? Maybe the DVD set didn't come with the whole series?" Oh, that was not fun when we looked online and found that really was the last episodes... *sigh*
PostPosted: Mon Feb 22, 2010 8:57 pm

Haha, right?

I think it was too new a concept when I was in middle school and my high school was too big, I'm sure I could have found people as I discovered clubs and stuff after the fact, but at the time it didn't even occur to me to go look for people, to look for a "fandom."

I did not read the new series, my friend didn't, so I wasn't sure if it was even similar or what.

Yay! Someone agrees with me on Host Club, not that I know anyone else whose finished the anime, but still. I'm glad I'm not alone or "crazy" for preferring an anime to a manga when it's "different."

Yea I'm fine where the Yami no Matsuei anime ended, but I would love the manga to continue because I wouldn't mind more.

Yea I hate the "s'all a retarded dream" episode. I saw the anime first and loved it, minus the last episode, so I started buying the manga. The anime is SO friggin pretty, but the manga is better. Though yes, kind of confusing, I really love it and I think it's much clearer, but I'm not sure I can promise that it's not at least a little confusing.

Anyhow gotta give my mom her room back now *sigh*. Goodnight interwebs *sobs*... razz

I only read the first volume of the new Gravitation series. It was... weird, because it tried to go from its weirdness to a more dramatic dealie, but it just utterly failed.
I think it's uncommon for an anime to be better than a manga, but it still happens from time to time. XD It's not weird to prefer one over the other.
Agreed.
Loveless was more just a pretty thing to me than anything else. XD;; It was just too... out there and unfinished for me to care for it much.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 23, 2010 10:58 pm

Sounds like fail, I probably won't ever check it out, I enjoyed the first series, but didn't like it so much I want more, especially not more dramatic weirdness.

Yea, I usually prefer manga, just because it's richer in detail and the story usually flows better. Off the top of my head, the only exceptions for me are OHC, Gravitation, and actually YGO. The manga just doesn't have as much character development, I like the richness the anime gave them. Usually though it's just animation and how much prettier anime is that I like better, and thus end up preferring the manga.

Well, it only covers a couple volumes of the manga, it's being written so slowly. Only one volume was coming out a year and I think it'll be two years by the time volume 9 is finally out. I like it and it gets a lot richer and a lot darker, but I have NO idea at all about where it could possibly be going, it is rather surreal. So I'd wait until I see it get a firmer hold before I'd actually recommend it.

Yeah, and especially if you didn't care for the direction Gravitation went in in the later volumes, I wouldn't recommend the newer series.
Same here; series off the top of my head I can think of where I prefer the anime are Host Club, Gravitation, YUU*GI*OU (the three you said XD), plus Princess Tutu, Yami no Matsuei, Pretear, and Sailor Moon. Though I think on a couple of those, the anime actually came out first. But yeah, I agree with your reasonings on preferring the YUU*GI*OU anime, though I still really love both.
Ah, yeah, I shall probably wait for Loveless to finish then before attempting to read it. XD
PostPosted: Wed Feb 24, 2010 9:23 pm

Yea, I definitely did not.

I've yet to get to Pretear, never heard of Princess Tutu, never got into Sailor Moon in any form, and having read Yami no Matsuei. Although I am still tempted, I just hate things that might never be complete, torture!! Yea I liked the YGO manga well enough, but the anime was much better.

Had I known how torturously slow it would be released I might have waited too. Because it gets kind of convoluted I have to reread a lot of it every time a new volume does comes out, I can't remember that much that long.

Oh, Princess Tutu is just... fantastic... like of all the anime in the world, it's probably one of my most favoritests ever. Like the title is absolutely horrible, and the premise is just retarded, and it's not well known because it's very difficult for it to have a target audience (I mean, it's a cutesy, yet mature and dark anime about ballet... it seems childish until you actually watch it), but everything just goes together so amazingly... it's a magical girl show, but the girl fights using ballet, and she transforms into Princess Tutu in order to restore the emotions to a story book prince who shattered his heart to seal up the Raven King. It just has wonderful characterization, the plot is constantly getting deeper, darker, and more insanely powerful, and it's cute and has crazy things like a cute little prince jumping out of a two-story window to save a baby bird, while wearing nothing but a white button-up shirt, then being saved by a ballerina dancing to create a field of flowers for him to land in! It's just so... *happy sigh* This is the AMV that got me interested in the series, so maybe it will do the same for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NDnqGrgDpk
Eheh, yeah, I'll definitely wait for it to finish then. XD;;

Ok my browsers (both of them, IE - which works better on the loaner and I've been using again - and Mozilla) are wigging out, I restarted the computer and they've been fine but I'm worried so I'll try and watch the video tomorrow...trying to get through posts quickly so I can go read some more Son of a Witch anyhow. I'll try to watch the AMV tomorrow though, hopefully no wiggy problems...~_~.

Yea, it'll probably be awhile *grumbles*

Aw, stupid fail internets! Okay, that's fine. XP
PostPosted: Sun Feb 28, 2010 8:29 pm

Seriously! Forgot about the video until now though so good I just watched it. Luckily it was a one time fail.

Anyhow I don't think that got me interested in the show, but that was a very well done AMV, and I like that song...hmm...what is that song *too lazy to go back and see if the video tells you*, if you don't know I'll go look elsewhere later.

Btw, the character with white hair wearing just a shirt, is that a girl or boy? I went back and forth so many times and now I'm curious damn it!

The song is called Håll om mig by Nanne Grönvall. One of my favorite songs of all time. <3 And I loooove that AMV so much.
Oh, and the one with the white hair is a boy. XD He's the 'prince' in the story, the one that lost his heart.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 01, 2010 5:41 pm

I thought he was a boy, he was reminding me of a mature version of Near (from Death Note), but wasn't entirely sure. His clothing certainly wasn't giving him away...^_~.

Ok, going to write that down and look for it when I get my laptop back. The only thing I miss about my laptop specifically are my music programs. I don't want to download Itunes or anything onto here, because then I'd have to make sure I moved my music before I take this loaner in and get my computer back (whenever that is rolleyes ), however there is so much music I want to get and bah!!!

Yeah, he kind of looks like Near (or Bakura) but he's much less obnoxious, and much cuter. He doesn't seem angrily quiet like Near does, but emotionless.
Good luck with your laptop!
