Soon enough, the Chancellor's valet returned and a herald announced that luncheon was about to be served. Farthersomewich offered his arm to Her Ladyship the Monarch, and led the way in to the luncheon hall. There were plenty enough seats there for all the competitors, plus Her Ladyship, Chancellor Farthersomewich, Sir Andre, Sir Dling, Eri, and a couple handfuls of miscellaneous nobility, enough to fill up the the rest of the rather long table.
Being only a luncheon, there weren't as many plates and utensils and glasses and things on the table as there would be for dinner later on, but of course everything was set up very nice and proper and spotless. When most of everyone was seated, servants brought out an array of dishes piled with delectable foods, including (but not limited to) peach pie, carrot and celery sticks, pumpkin pie, green salad, cherry pie, fruit salad, jello salad, assorted miniature muffins, pasta salad, alphabet soup salad, apple pie, various kinds of non-cannibalistic carnivorous fare (ie: no rabbit out of respect to Her Ladyship, but maybe pork or beef since no one there was known to be swine or half-bovine... and likely they'd have frogs' legs and caviar), pot pie, sweet potato pie, and also mashed or hashed or diced potatoes with whipped topping and ice cream with gravy. Or, maybe it was the other way around. At any rate, there was a wide variety of things to eat, and plenty of elbow room, and at least one servant for every seated person there, to help everyone get whatever food it is that they would want.
While everyone sat down and got started on selecting what they wanted to eat, Chancellor Farthersomewich announced: "When we are finished with our luncheon, we will all go on to Tesarel, where Her Ladyship has a few... activities planned for us. Er, for you the contestants." with that and a big grin, the Chancellor raised his glass of possibly-alcoholic beverage and took a drink of it. He then sat down and began eating his luncheon, his plate having been filled while he was speaking, by servants who were used to remembering the kinds of things he'd be expected to select from such a spread as was there. He ate daintily, with his little fingers extended, but somehow it didn't take him long to pack away a sizeable portion of the food on his plate.
((So, feel free to RP the luncheon as much as you want... but plan on being in Tesarel no later than wednesday.
Question for week 2: What is your character's preferred method of travel? Palanquin, hot rod, model T, locomotive, walking, bison...(her ladyship will be using a hot air balloon) Use it to get them from the palace to Tesarel !
If you are confused about this, please post your questions in the mane event contest announcement thread, please, okay thanks!))

((Luckily, school got out early today. Now to rp my pathetic number from above. This should be fun.))
Eve followed the crowd of nobles into the luncheon hall. She was rather put out by the previous accidents. She hoped that the luncheon would at least be somewhat pleasant. She found a seat and attempted to gracefully sit in it like the other ladies present, but only succeeded in plopping down on her skirts. She muttered a few curses as she discreetly spread them out, but of course, a lady sitting next to her noticed a twittered delicately at Eve's attempt. 'Laugh it up now you overgrown snuffbox.' Eve thought. She kept her ears open for conversation as she selected her food. Pasta salad and cherry pie occupied her plate as she spread her napkin across her lap. She took a calming breath. By god, she was not going to make a mistake. She carefully picked up her glass filled with water to take a sip. As she moved it to her lips, someone made a loud noise, and she jumped while successfully spilling a little water on her lap. Through the chattering people around her, they did not notice. She put the glass back on the table and tackled her food. She looked around at the other people and frowned at how easily they conversed. She shook her head and continued eating. A few minutes later she felt some cherry pie on her cheek. She felt for her napkin, but it did not seem to be there. She looked down and saw that it had slipped to the floor. She pushed her chair back a little to get it, but in doing so, she had not noticed the servant carrying a tray with a water pitcher on it walking behind her. He stumbled on out of the way, but could not seem to regain his balance. As she sat up, she saw the pitcher flying towards her dining neighbor. Her hand flew up and grabbed the handle. She smiled when it did not go father, but the smile disappeared when she heard a shriek from beside her. She turned to see her dining partner soaked head to toe from the contents of the pitcher, and Eve thought things couldn't get worse.

"This doesn't make me look fat, does it?", Eri asked as she swung around in front of the large mirror, holding her dress at the skirt. She couldn't believe how many pearls glittered amidst the ambient light of the room.
"The dress is made to enhance your features, Lady Eri", the butler gracefully replied back, proof enough that he was worth of his title.
It took some time for Eri to get used to the dress she was wearing. During that time, Master Butler gave her the rundown of what things she missed and what happened to the Palace while she was away. She pretended about listening to the old butler. She had already read parts of it in her book, so it won't really matter if she skipped a detail or two. She found out there were seven people attending this grand competition.
"Alright. . . "
"You look splendid, my dear!", chanted the butler, like cooing a granddaughter to her first dance.
"The luncheon hall awaits!"
Eri walked out of the room and past a couple of halls. The shoes she wore before were no dice compared to the ones given to her by Master Butler. After a couple of turns she now walked into the big luncheon hall dominated by the grand table were all the nobles and contestants were in. A few of the nobles, upon looking at her, whispered and gossiped about the girl who cussed loudly that even Her Graciousness should be ashamed.
Master Butler went on ahead and introduced her to the nobles that were there. "Ladies and gentlemen, I present you Lady Eri. She was the person who made the queen's majestic Nautilus possible and is a dear friend to the queen."
Upon hearing the magic words, "a dear friend to the queen", a lot of nobles began whispering and throwing off small praises and courteous gestures towards the girl. Eri sighed, shrugged and stepped forward after getting the cue from Master Butler.
"Dear friends, we are gathered here today to witness an event that will decide who will be the next Grand Dowager of this land. As Master Butler has said, my name is Eri, a well-known scholar and historical researcher, and I came here not because of the queen's request -", a sudden gasp and silence from the audience was heard. Several nobles were disoriented by how she rudely does her introduction but they all just kept it to themselves. "- but because I wanted to. I'd like to ask the contestants to dispense the royal airs for just a while, refrain your royal cryers and introduce yourself once again, in your own voice. We don't need to be strangers in front of each other. . .", Eri said in a very distinct and clear tone.
". . . and in front of food.", she whispered softly while she raised a glass filled with some sort of drink, tipped it a bit and sipped. She sat to where Master Butler led her, amidst the knights, the Chancellor and Her Ladyship.

Sir Madam continued to applaud the apparent werewolf, despite not being noticed for it. This task took up all of his attention, so he did not seem to notice when everyone else moved on to the luncheon. His applause ended then as he looked up to find that he was alone in the great hall aside from servants.
“One. Two. One, two, three, four,” he muttered to himself before snapping his fingers with a sharp enough crack to startle another competitor enough to spill her water into her lap. Immediately, every servant in the room snapped sharply to attention and several more appeared. Sir tapped his foot on the floor, seemingly in impatience, but it kept a steady beat nonetheless. The servants arranged themselves with flawless choreography into two parallel lines to his sides.
The crier and his trumpet flared a toe-tapping intro as Sir raised an arm to the sky.
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand… you put your right hand in! You put your right hand out! You put your right hand in and you shake it all about!”
The servants followed in a massive dance that was so precisely choreographed that half the people on Broadway spontaneously burst into tears without knowing exactly why. It continued fabulously right up until the end.
“And that’s what it’s all about!”
A terrifyingly expensive pyrotechnics display erupted behind Sir as he slid down the hall on his knees in an extravagant finale. Such was his skill with ordering servants, Sir Madam had no need to actually call them to himself or dismiss them when the musical number ended. All that remained was one servant sweeping confetti from the floor and Sir as he straightened up and brushed himself off. (Task 2, Ordering Servants. Roll of 10.)
Sir Madam strode into the dining hall just a few seconds too late to be perfectly fashionable. He took his place with grace and tucked his napkin into his collar. He mistook his salad fork for his shrimp fork and skewered a small shellfish, but he corrected his mistake, feeling very selfish. He greeted the newcomer, Eri jovially. “I am Sir Madam, lover of the arts and macaroni, Madam Eri.” (Task 3, Luncheon. Roll of 8.)
A servant came up behind Sir, holding the keys to his personal flying ice cream sundae, powered by the joy of children. “Your transport is ready, Sir Madam, Sir. (Question 2, Transport.)

After luncheon, Her Royal Monarchyness and everyone accompanying her who was going to go along, boarded her personal hot air balloon. It was shaped and painted to look like the head of a giant squid, and had streaming lengths of fabric hanging down that were fashioned to be like tentacles.
They led the way to Tesarel, but were not necessarily the fastest and might not be the first to arrive.
((To Tesarel! -everyone go to that thread and regroup for the next round of tasks...
****announcement: The next tasks will be slightly postponed, until we are sure that everyone has got to the right place... or next week AT THE LATEST. Sorry, but some of us have been having trouble all getting on the same page, and it has been brought to my attention that there have been a lot of problems with people not being able to be online as much as is required by my original timetable. (I may have to adjust the thing, your patience is appreciated) Please RP your arrival in Tesarel, and if you can post every day anyway, please interact with each other and maybe answer Eri's interview question(s) for which you might get bonus points, thanks.))
