Also, I've been painting my Warhammer 40K minis, and I think they are looking sweet. Their basing job is pimp, if I say so myself.
That's probably the best showoff picture. I've got the rest in This album if you want to take a look.
The chunks of rock are actually obsidian that I painted twice with a thin wash of this fluorescent paint I have that looks really good when layered thinly on. Then I coated it several times with a thinned hard gloss to seal it in, since it does't like to stay stuck to the obsidian otherwise.
Really simple job for what I think is a pretty amazing effect.
Oh, and yeah, I dropped one of the guys when I was getting him out to take pictures and his gun popped off (as well as his hands). And then, when I was trying to glue it back on, the superglue decided to j**z all over the gun and my fingers.... so I'm going to have to strip it and paint it again, which isn't as bad as it sounds. But, that's why there's a guy in that album with no gun.

Frickin'... sometimes there are things science should just not do. Especially you, pharmaceutical industry.
This scares the f***ing s**t outta me. (NSFW)Really, really scares the s**t outta me. (There's a small NSFW picture on the second link)
So basically, while testing this tanning drug, they found out that 9/10 males who used it became aroused. So, they decided to f*** with it, and found out that this little b*****d actually works on the nervous system, and not on the blood vessels or whatever like other stuff like viagra. Not only that, but it works on men AND women.
You got that? Nervous system. Not only does this arouse you, but it makes you WANT to have sex. Plus, it works within 15 minutes and has a half-life of 2 hours. When they tested it on mammals, both genders display mating behavior and just... I assume you can see the problem I have with it.
Oh, yeah, to top it all off, the preferred delivery methods are a nasal spray, or a sub-cutaneous injection (needle right under the skin).
I mean, I guess at least that's very high profile... But... still, I mean, come on, man.
I just hope to crap that a pill form, or GOD FORBID transdermal patches is never viable or made. It's already dangerous enough out there, without having to f***ing worry about someone touching you and leaving a magical horny patch on your skin that you might not notice because you've been drinking.
Add to that that I remember reading about them researching new drug delivery methods in the form of a patch that can deliver medication subcutaneously via millions of microscopic needles... so... yeah.
I f***ing don't even...

So I went to this thing called Dickens on the Strand a week or two ago at Galveston here in Texas. Fun little mini-festival like thing with a Victorian flair. Was really fun. Lots of steampunk and other things. I only knew about it a few weeks ahead of time, so I didn't have a chance to get a more Victorian costume, so I just went as my Viking self. Felt really out of place. Anyway, here's a pic. I'm on the right.
Found the Austin Facial Hair Club, apparently. They were doing this facial hair contest thing. I didn't go, because I had prior engagements, but they were pretty nice folks.
Next year, though, I'm going to have a costume. Some kind of victorian steampunk plague doctor thing, maybe. I've gotten pretty good at painting things to look like metal, so I figured I'd take a stab at making one of those plague masks look like brass. Should be fun.
