Freezing rain, darkness in the middle of the day.... holed up in my little room, reading Nietzche and eating French onion soup. Not homemade soup... but this pretty fabulous stuff I found that you just throw in the microwave.

Nietzche requires soup, I have found.

So does cold weather, Shrike. Especially if you're also daydreaming about your new wool coat.

Actually, almost everything is better if there's soup involved, I find.

HEH, congrats on the coat and phone.

One day I will leave the dark ages and buy a cellphone. ONE DAY.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 27, 2006 12:17 pm
It could happen. Honestly, I don't use my cellphone much, but when I do, it's because I really, really need it. Like, calling Hertz to say "This car you rented me isn't safe to drive. Where's the nearest Hertz location where I can trade this in for something safer?" Or like calling the SO to say "I'm in a meeting that's running long -- I'm not bleeding in a ditch somewhere." That's important, I feel.

True, they're dead useful for emergencies. And I'm sure it would be nice to have when I travel, instead of feeding five dollars worth of quarters into a pay phone.

Love/hate relationship with technology. Yup.

That's pretty much when I use mine, actually. Very seldom do I need a cellphone when I'm just going about my day, though it does happen once in a while. Usually I'm just out of state and don't want to make long-distance calls on my family's phones or pay a fortune at a phone booth. Too, it can be dangerous to use a pay phone in some places. There you are, shut in a glass cube which is well lit. If it's not bad enough that well lit places can be seen from a long way away, when you come out of there and into the surrounding darkness, your eyes aren't adjusted to see in the darkness, so you're vulnerable there, too.

Okay, I think I'm set both for tonight's dinner and for a couple days from now. Check me out on this.

Tonight:
--------
Pan-seared chicken breasts with a light lemon and tarragon sauce
Baby greens salad, dressed with a dash of walnut oil and some fleur de sels
Brown rice

Friday night:
-------------
Roasted turkey
Onions and potatoes (used as a roasting rack and drippings-soakers)
Pan-seared asparagus
Baby greens salad
Cranberry relish (no, NOT cranberry sauce -- I never, ever cook cranberries)

Divash.
You make me wish I lived near you so I could buy your food.
xD

I don't sell food, BZ. I may give it to friends who come over for dinner, but I never sell it. Food is love.

My cat is SO affectionate. I missed her so much.

Well I'd buy your groceries to make food.
^_^;

Every cat I've met has always been mean to people.

My dog is affectionate.
Even when I drive. She tries to kiss my face.
