*gluggles Sui, Tana, and Magni* I can understand your logic for wanting a house, Sui, but the downpayment is usually large and you are entirely responsible for the upkeep. That's not even delving into the matter of neighbors. rolleyes

We kinda lucked out. Got a medium sized house for $39,500 and the guy was great that worked it out for us. We didn't have a down payment, and it hurt us in the loan to get the place . . . but I am glad we have it. On the other side, we had to work for 5 years to get to that point in an apartment that was ancient and had NO insulation. It was owned by my Lady's father, so the rent was what we could do (if anything), and I love him for that. Now, though, we are okay. I ******** hate my college class right now. I am losing a 10% chunk of a major paper for it being late because I have no idea how to do it anymore. I need to: Consider the following scenario: You have been asked by a local college to write a lecture that explains the gold standard and addresses the functions of the world’s major foreign exchange markets. • Write a 1050-to 1400-word summary detailing the functions of the world’s major foreign currency exchange markets. Be sure to discuss the positive and negative aspects of using a gold standard. • Use at least 3 sources. • Format your paper following APA guidelines. After days upon days of research and still not being able to pull it together I had to message the instructor and say WTF?! crying I hate sounding/feeling/being stoopid. * returns the gluggle to Yoder, three times for Magni, Alex, and Ruined. Then repeats the process for Tana, Mou, EKA, and definitely Sui*

Wow, I understand the topic, but that must be so hard to write about. I mean, the concept is so detailed and gritty that you could probably write about it for 2000 words. Of course, thatd take a long time with extreme dedication added to the mix. I'm glad I'm not in your place. Good luck on possibly completing it, though! 3nodding

The gold standard, is one of the foundations of the monetary systems that the world uses today to measure the wealth currency holds. Without the gold standard, Americans would never have pennies, or nickels, even dimes or quarters. The gold standard's significance is beyond imaginable, for it is the back-bone of paper and coined money. It allows the banks of the world to actually determine the worth of currency. Gold is weighed, sized, and studied in very high degree, all to determine a standard, if you will. By making each piece exactly the same, the exchange of goods for something as material as currency, trading takes an enormous step in popularity. By having the gold standard transform into the world's monetary systems, money is worth the same in amount no matter where you go. One of the easiest exchanges to date is the dollar to peso rate. For every 1.00 American dollar, to equal the amount you would need 10.89 pesos. The magic to this, is that the worth is the same, even though the physical appearance is much different. This goes the same for goods. One dollar could get you a pack of bubble gum, in theory (people can be bastards, so it's not actuality) you should be able to sell that same pack of bubble gum for 10.89 (or roughly 11) pesos.
The gold standard is pretty much the foundation of bartering society in terms of an actual standard. Sure such a thing existed back in the days before the gold standard, but everything was based on perspective. "I'll trade you these herbs and berries for that fish." and later on. "I'll trade you this fish for a slab of bovine." But, the herbs and berries do not equate the beef. The gold standard created a world-wide currency exchange trend that is accepted anywhere you go.
Obviously with the world's expanding market and the vast variety of currency found across the globe, the foreign currency exchange plays a role that is monumental. Not only does the cost of money fluctuate daily, but the currency rate can be gigantic in some areas, yet incredibly minuscule in others. The global exchange not only keeps daily records of said changes, but applies them to everyday situations such as tourism. =========
Fun stuff, I did fail to mention the negative sides, because I fully support trade economies. But here's a quick negative about using the actual gold standard: gold is a rare existence, and is not a commonplace thing. It's rarity leads to unfair economies, where almost 100% of the population using the standard is completely destitute, while the few that have the gold sit on top of the world.
The easy part is writing the summary. If /this/ is the problem, it is clearly stated that you do not write a lecture, but a summary. You are to act as if you've been assigned this topic; therefor it merely means that you are supposed to be incredibly knowledgeable about the subject. Ergo, enough that you are giving a lecture at a college. A small summary like that should be nothing, it's only about 4~6 pages maximum.
I love you Talon. cool
