I actually learned its' meaning in a RP on here, once.
It's a myth that faeries, or spirits, or whatever live in the wood, and when they hear things like 'Maybe it's done and over with', they make it happen again, like making my nose run more. If you knock on the wood, though, it scares them, or something.

Meh, to each their own. I don't like to knock on anything. It reminds me of times when I needed to vent anger lest I do something . . . bad. I would punch a metal door- leaving dents. O_O

Skreemer......Ill. got that rare cold that seriousyl affects me. Made me feel really weak and nearly passed out at my girlfriends. Having to be dosed with Beechams flu relief, hot elderflower cordial and lieing up in bed. Not even allowed rum.

I don't see how insulting knock on wood has anything to do with you diseasing my cat. confused
Anyway - Talon: 
The hair was goofy just like he is, and the underwear on his head because he's a perv, and I imagine he'd do something like that if he could. the shirt and chest plate are from the new blade series and I thought that the traditional kind of clothing for the torso fit the way he runs the guild. The fire is the passion, and there are wings behind the fire, because...Talon - bird...it just makes sense that a bird has his wings. the pants are just some ordinary pants, I didn't think he'd mind, the socks are supposed to be something, but then I saw the green glitch and instantly thought: oh Damn! more goofiness! The android prosthetic stuff is there for a reason, because it's like there are two parts of the avatar. This is supposed to represent his choice to manifest different personalities in the three avatars he has. Alexander: the often goofy one, Horizon: the serious woman who keeps Alexander in line, and Talon, or whatever name he has: the awesome guy who ended up with the guild who's generally really nice and responsible. The two books, well, I imagine growing up with books rather than the internet, he and I might share a fondness for books. So I put them there. The demon pendant? Well let's face it, Talon has his preference for the darker themes and shady likenesses.

I love Zaraki-Taichou. If I were ever apart of the Gotei 13 group, I'd try and get in under him, Hitsugaya, or Ukitake.
I stopped in the middle of the Bount arc, I believe. And then watched some of an episode with Ulquiorra in it... (I heart him)
Otherwise, I've just watched the first two or three arcs.

There are three captains I hate: Kenpachi, Hitsugaya, Byakuya.
Kenpachi: I'm not usually fond of the berserker thing, he doesn't do it for me. I wish he had a shi-kai and ban-kai though, that would be cool.
Hitsugaya: Child prodigies are annoying, the whole Matsumoto thing is just ...ugh. Also - he's incredibly weak in terms of captains, or more importantly espada.
Byakuya: He's just..."too good" He has so many forms of ban-kai it's not even funny. He killed one of my favorite Espada. crying
Ukitake and Kyouraku are my favorites.
Screw Yamamoto: Ichigo could take him.

My favorite characters, out of those that I know of, are...
Chad, Ulquiorra, Nova, Kenpachi, and Ukitake.
I have a thing for anime characters with the big muscles, sharp teeth, and innocent-looking partners. I also have a thing for the almost eternally-sick characters. The shy-guys are cute, too.
to fit in with that, for Naruto, I love Haku and Zabuza, Kimimaru, and Juugo. Well... Juugo sort of fits in with that.
