Rosalyn suppressed the urge to shout at the man by clearing her throat loudly and rather violently. Once she regained her composure, she began, "I clearly remember finding Ethin unconscious in the street with none of you there to assist him. Even a Warder needs help sometimes." Her smile was sickly sweet.

"Not from you, woman," Haidar replied, determined not to let Kiae undoubtedly kill the noblewoman if she said anything. "Kiae Sedai and Esole Sedai are on orders from the Amyrlin herself and you have no place to inject yourself into their work. If necessary, we will appeal to the Amyrlin to restrain your actions," he continued smoothly, having learned patience from his Brown Sister. Kiae made no effort to hide her smile this time, hoping she didn't seem to be too smug about his words. The woman's words had cut her, as the woman had no idea what had been happening at the time - the idea she would past judgment on Kiae was too much.

"Come now, friends. We need not bring in others. Dark times are upon us. Why burn bridges when we can be building them?" said Ezekiel, who had grown tired of their childish bickering. Esole's face flushed angrily from her father's interjection. "Papa, this is of matters pertaining to the White Tower. Not the inn. We can handle this on our own," she said hotly. "Be that as it may, Esole. But I have been on this world far longer than any of you. I have learned many things. Just because I am not a traveler of the land does not make me incompetent," he replied calmly. His calm lecturing tone only angered Esole further because he always used it on her as a child when she was in the wrong. "And I did not come to be the successful man that I am today without making friends and making connections," he continued.

Kiae had the unholy urge to slap the man, partly for his disrespect to her and partly for his disrespect to his daughter, who was a full-fledged Aes Sedai and above his remonitions. "Sir, your daughter is right. This matter is the business of the White Tower and how we choose to conduct our business is none of yours," she said shortly. "I heard no one say you were incompetent. But you are ignorant of our way of doing business, just as I am of yours." She gave the noblewoman a long, even stare that promised many horrible things to come in the future. "And you will do well to give up on your foolish intentions for my Warder," she continued evenly.

Ezekiel was taken aback. He decided he would remain silent rather than argue with a stubborn woman. "I agree; however, you will not speak to my father in such a way ever again. Do you understand?" asked Esole testily. She agreed that her father didn't know the situation as they did but she could not condone Kiae talking to her father like he knew nothing. She had half a mind to switch the woman.

Kiae nodded, not about to apologize and finding it unnecessary to say anything else. She knew she was out of line, but her point had been made and the man had stayed quiet. "Is there anything you felt we should know regarding the situation with the New Order or the Hand, Esole Sedai?" Haidar asked calmly, wondering why the meeting was even happening if no one had anything to say about the business at hand.

"Not at the moment. I was under the impression we were meeting to discuss our plans for the day so we could have information on the New Order," Esole responded sharply, unappreciative of his question. The man was not welcome to her and she did not want him impeding on their work.

"I was planning on visiting a few of my contacts in the city," Kiae said, not wanting the tension to rise any further. "I was also thinking of visiting the sites where we were attacked, Esole. There may be something left there we can use," she continued. She doubted there would be, but it was worth a try.

"Perhaps we could combine our resources and work together or the day," Esole suggested, noting Kiae's attempt at civility.
"I think that is a good idea," Ethin added, finally breaking his elongated silence. He felt bad for not standing up for Esole's father but he and Kiae had just reconciled the night before and he did not want to start another fire.

Kiae nodded. "At least for part of the day," she agreed, not sure she could stand the tension the entire day. Though most of it was the noblewoman's fault and due to Esole's father's meddling, she thought.

Rosalyn found herself in quite the predicament. She knew that Haidar would step in if she tried to follow the group but she could not just stand idly by. Without excusing herself, she rose and departed from the inn. She found her coach waiting out front with her hired men. Rosalyn commanded them to take her home. There, she would plan her next move. Esole smiled smugly at the noblewoman's departure. "It appears as though the Lady has grown weary with our company," she said with a snicker. "This cannot be good," thought Ethin grimly. He kept an eye on Kiae, trying to gauge her response to the noblewoman's departure.

Kiae smiled as well at the woman's departure, turning to Esole after watching her leave from the corner of her eye. "Is there anywhere you need to go first, Esole?" she asked, much more cheerfully than she had been previously.

Esole brightened at not being the only one pleased with Rosalyn's leaving. "I intended to see the Queen and question about anything she might know," Esole replied.

Kiae nodded. "That's a sound plan. Would you prefer to go alone to the Queen while I inspect the sites of the attacks?" she asked. She was ambivalent towards the Queen and felt Esole would be much better suited at dealing with nobility than herself, but if the Green wanted company she was willing to cede the point. Haidar remained quiet, wondering how the Queen could possibly help them in their search for Darkfriends. "Whatever Kiae Sedai wishes, I must do," he thought with a private sigh.

"We will cover more in a shorter time if we split up," responded Esole. A thought occurred to her. Rosalyn was of the nobility which meant she was most likely on good terms with the Queen. "Blood and ashes," muttered Esole. "What is the matter?" inquired Ethin. "I will need to find Rosalyn," she said with disgust. Ethin pondered for a moment why Esole would need Rosalyn's company to visit the Queen. "You want her to help you get information from the Queen because she knows her?" he asked, making the connection between Rosalyn's status and her possible relations with the Queen.
