The Commander Grinned,"I told you!....Don't thank me!...Try not to wear yourself out too much!...." he said with a laugh as the aircraft began to lift off.
"....The group is safely on the ground....Returning to base"
Soon the commander had made it to the outskirts of the hangar when he noticed something, "...Too bad we were a little preoccupied..." he muttered as he looked on at the wreckage, his hangar was destroyed, and one aircraft was completely obliterated. He narrowed his eyes,"....Lieutenent bring us down immediately!....So...these leaks on the networks...."
"...They found out sir..."
The commander looked out the helicopter's door as he examined the wreckage from the safety of his helicopter, however he felt the light cold feeling of a barrel pressed against his head,"...Colonel Voronova...You and the Scarlet Wolves are charged with treason....drop your weapons and surrender immediately!"
The commander chuckled,"...Tatsuya....my end of the deal had been done....but now you made a liar out of me....I guess that door may not be open after all..." he thought, However it was never like him to give up so easily, he looked at the Lieutenant who was angrily staring at the Officer behind The commander. The commander sighed,"....The fact humans can pass judgement...good an evil....this simple illusion is what will drive people to act in the end....Owls are no different....ultimately...the same history will repeat itself...when a corrupted soul no longer seeks freedom...but the power to pass judgement..." He thought to himself, he looked at the Lieutenant, and shifted his eyes towards the bag below her, the look of acknowledgement was all he needed, "I am unrestrained by the illusion of justice...my loyalty is with my Family!...the feared...Scarlet Wolves..." ....All units...." the Commander began, as calmly as ever.
"...Open Fire!"
Amidst the almost instant response of the Scarlet Wolves...Gunfire Erupted from ever weapon held by Commander Voronova's men and women. But, amongst that instant, within the gunfire...all but a single shot was fired in the Commander's Helicopter....

Chapter 6: The World is Yours
"So did you hear about what happened over in Europe not too long ago, Commander?"
"I did. Tragic. Alot of Owls and Humans died on that day...most were killed by other Owls...those mutated freaks I swear..." An ethereal cloud of smoke exited the military man's chapped lips. Somberly, the methane filled the small, narrow hallway of the Exirian Skyscraper. The smoke settled in with a dust and debris that had filled the air from the previous fight. Those who were new to this atmosphere coughed, hacked and wheezed and even gagged downheartedly. The other older, veteran soldiers simply inhaled the dark grey plume allowing it to fill them with memories of home and the factories in which some of them used to labor. This was for them.
The ones who've lost something to this war. The puff wasn't for the new guys...the soft ones who stared for days when their partner died slowly in their arms. Puffing out once again, Malachi Vitrei, the leader of UNS's very own Team Empty, looked around for anything that may have seemed suspicious. There were no more enemies. Just the one of Raven's three commanders above them. "Whoever is going to blow the hallway should do so soon. We're not going to get back to our families just sitting here."

"On it sir!" Samy said uncovering her mouth as she coughed slightly and nodded to her superior. Quickly she loaded the grenade launcher attached to her rifle forgetting Malachi's smoke for the time she used to prepare her weapon. Within moments the hall way exploded, and the young human ducked to avoid the falling debris over her head and in front of their group, taking note that some of the others didn't even flinch. how many members are actually owls? she wondered peering from under the shelter of her arms as she looked at each weathered and worn face, she was not the newest member to the UNS organization, but she had just recently been assigned to this squad along with a few other members, her first impression? these men were rather laid back...

Maximilian Xavier Castillo checked his weapon for about the fifteenth time in the past hour, he wasn't nervous exactly, he just wanted to make sure his gun worked. Unlike some of the other Owls they were fighting or some of the Owls on their team, he didn't have a combat power specifically. The UNS had classified it as "Enhanced Intelligence," it essentially meant his mind was about as fast as a supercomputer, meaning he could react faster, plan for situations at lightning speed, he was the team's tech and planning expert. That said, he wasn't as much of a veteran as some of the other soldiers, but he wasn't exactly green either. He wasn't much of a fan of Malachi's smoke, it broke his concentration. Instead he wore a mask on the lower half of his face, it functioned like a gas mask, filtering his air, but didn't block his vision.
He wasn't happy when Samy, a human, was assigned to the team; but not for the reasons you might think. He was worried about her, the team took the missions no one else could. Essentially every mission of theirs was considered a suicide mission, and they rarely went through one without losing at least one person. Max's worry went deeper than just simple camaraderie. To put it bluntly, Samy was Max's girlfriend, or at least he liked to think so. She wasn't a fan of Owls (understatement), but they had grown attached to one another while she hadn't known he was an Owl. Needless to say, he was quite angry with whoever assigned her to this suicide mission. He had tried to dissuade her from going along, but as always, she didn't listen to him.
So there they were, standing in the hallway as Samy just blew out the wall with her grenade launcher. Max moved out of the way of some debris and readied his weapon; a modified rifle with a scope and shotgun attachment, armor piercing rounds for the rifle, and incendiary for the shotgun. He moved up to the corner of the blasted out wall and leaned over, looking into the room. About 4 seconds later a circular blade hurled through the opening about an inch from his face. "Looks like we found one of our targets. Not sure if he's alone or whether he has backup, but if we aren't quick backup WILL arrive. We can't afford to waste any time here; I recommend we-" Another few blades hurled past him and stuck in the other wall; the general was an unknown factor, they couldn't get any information regarding him or his powers, all they knew was he used large circular blades. So they were going in blind essentially. Max sighed and said, "I recommend-" Four more blades whizzed past and into the wall. Max sighed again irritated, and said, "For god's sake just shoot the b*****d." Max reached down and took a smoke grenade off his belt, pulling the pin, he tossed it into the room, where it blocked the general's view of them. "We should be moving in now..." Max said impatiently. Everyone moved too slow for him, of course, that was just his increased reaction time talking, but it was still aggravating.
Max ducked around the wall and hid behind a pillar; apparently the general liked living in style, it was quite the accommodations. It looked like one hell of a penthouse suite, the main room was bigger than Max's apartment. "Lot of hiding places... lots of ways things could go wrong." Max leaned around the corner and tried to find the general in his sights, there was nothing in his view. He was about to move up when something sharp whizzed past his head, cutting his cheek. "Darn, I missed." The general had snuck up on Max while he was observing the room, he had missed his chance to end it quickly though, and now Max was aware of his presence. Max had about a second and a half to react before the general threw another blade at him. Too early and he'd just be cut down, too late and he'd be cut down as well. He watched the general's movements, waiting for his chance to strike. When the general was about to throw his blades at Max, he ducked out of the way and rolled to his feet in front of the general. He grabbed the Owl by his collar and headbutted him. It hurt quite a bit, but Max didn't stop to feel the pain; he kneed the general in the stomach and while he was bent over, he grabbed him in a headlock, promptly following by falling backward and smashing the general's face into the marble floor. Max quickly got to his feet again and unslung his rifle, stepping on the general's neck and aiming at his head. He cocked the under-slung shotgun, pressed the barrel to the back of his head and fired. Lifting his rifle up to his shoulder Max sighed and said, "Well that was underwhelming." He kicked the headless body and scanned the room for any more hostiles, "Looks like he was the only one here... there would be others by now if they were here." He kept his rifle out, just in case they ran into any more trouble.

Malachi's short dark hair wavered in the midst of Samy's RPG going off. A grin stretched his middle eastern features in admiration. The woman knew what it took to break down any barrier. In fact, hadn't it been for her, the strategy to get into Exire would've never saw it's manifestation. Her coupled with Max, Team Empty's intelligence expert, made for a combination that was nearly unstoppable. His mind and her offensive tactics were among the things the team thrived upon. Malachi had yet to even have to display his abilities. That was a good thing. Knowing was half the battle. The Iranian commander knew it was best to keep the opponents in the dark about his synthetic ability. Now that the wall was gone, Maximilian was already doing what he could to scope the environment...
After puffing out another cloud of deep gray smoke from the edges of his cigarette toting lips, he stood unrelentingly firm with an AK-47 in hand and a .50AE at his waist. In Exire, guns were laughed at unless that gun was a sniper rifle. The Owls here were far too full of themselves...this was evident in Raven's general that Max had just taken out with his amazingly swift thinking. Malachi was aware of what his powers were and so was the rest of Team Empty. After he took out the general by himself, they were also made aware of his power. "It is that reason that we're leaving asap Max. He's dead so those Exirian bastards will be flooding this place soon like the plague they are." Walking away from the battle, Malachi simply fleeced his silken, onyx hair, tossed his cigarette, then lit another one in it's place. "C'mon...we've done our jobs. Let's get to street before we get ambushed..."

((NPC----Teagan: I hope this works sweatdrop ))
Leaning against a wall with computer device in hand stood a red haired female in her early thirties. Her emerald eyes had been fixated on the flickering computer screen in her hand during the explosion and the fight between Maximilian and general of Exire; she was far to use to this type of environment to allow herself to become unsettled by the violence that she witnessed alongside her fellow team mates. Teagan Rosetta Amelia Smith finally pulled her eyes away from the screen to glance towards the others. “Well executed as usual.” A rare compliment that was laced with sarcasm, it wasn’t Teagan’s fault; sarcasm was simply second nature to her…as well as the constant look of boredom that seemed to never leave her facial features.
The red haired woman was the teams’ hostile electrical equipment expert. As such, she was responsible for taking out any CCTV or alarm systems and whatever else was in-between. This is where her little hand held computer came in to play, highly altered by Teagan’s own hands, this little device answered to its creator only of course….Teagan was essentially able to speak to computers. The computer whiz of the group who was far more comfortable amongst her electrical devices as supposed to humans, so it was no surprise for anyone here when she displayed lack of human skills. To say that this particular ‘geek’ was weak in combat would be a severe mistake. Her power was synthetic and before the change she had been a sniper wielding explosive throwing maniac with a crazy go-lucky attitude and could hold her own against the biggest men. Almost a polar opposite to what she was now.
Pulling out a hair-tie, Teagan scraped her wavy locks into a tight pony tail and pocketed her little computer with tender loving care. She looked towards Malachi and nodded stiffly. “A plague…How pleasant…” She bent down and grabbed her old faithful rifle which she shouldered. Without any other word, she turned on her heel and stepped forth, her brilliant red hair swaying from side to side with each swing of her curvy hips. Her mind was now fully focused on picking up any other electrical presences, and like a fly to an open flame, she would zero in on the electrical currents without a second thought.

True to his character Max reacted right away, Those instantaneous reflexes that he relied on where part of what Samy had been attracted too before she had known the truth. He dived in and several sounds of metal items whizzing by along with cursing and the sounds of a scuffle before a shot could be heard, and Samy only noticed she had been holding her breath when she heard Max's voice loud and clear. " they must underestimate us greatly if he was just hanging out here alone" she said tapping the shot gun strapped to her thigh lightly after she had slung her own riffle over her shoulder. Climbing the fallen debris behind Teagan and Malachi, she caught sight of Max over the owls body as she jumped off the pile and felt her stomach clench slightly. "how long do you think they will swarm?" she asked glancing at the cut on Max's face before staring at the dead man and licking her lips.
She did not know if any of the other members knew of her distaste for the Owls, it was a large part of her survival wen it came to tasks of taking out those of evolutionary advancements. Her dislike did not stem from pure hatred however, it stemmed from fear. Special powers made her extremely nervous as it did most humans which was a large reason as to why most were paranoid. No one liked to accept the unknown, physics and science were developed to explain everything! Fear of being helpless in any situation drove Samy to become as adaptable as she could in preparation, she wasn't one to sit by and let things be, when there was a problem she worked to fix it or prepare herself for it.

Max headed back over to the team and nodded to Malachi as he said they should get going. "I figure they're already on the way, I'm not sure why he was here alone, but there has to be some reason." Max looked back into the room to make sure there was nothing else he missed, then turned to Malachi and said, "I suggest we take the express elevator to the parking garage, as they are probably already on their way up in the regular elevator and most likely the stairs too." Max checked his weapon and loaded another shell into his shotgun attachment. He wasn't sure why there were no other Owls guarding the general, but he knew it couldn't have been without reason. If the Owls in New Exire didn't know they were here before, they most definitely did by now. The express elevator was at the other end of the hallway from them, opposite the regular elevator, it made no stops between the penthouse and the parking garage, which was exactly what they needed. As the team neared the elevator and Max pressed the button, as if on cue, the elevator at the other end opened its doors and quite a few angry Owls stepped out. "The elevator will be here in about a minute, maybe less." He said, just to inform the group how long they had as he brought his rifle up and fired at the Owls down the hall.

Malachi kept silent while Max and Samy had their exchange. Teagan had gave her word on the success of the first third of the mission and the commander found himself smirking. The Technopathic redhead was constantly spouting sarcastic remarks that may have frustrated her closest teammates and her subordinates. Rather than allowing it to perturb him, the chain smoker saw it as a kind of game where one never wins. Instead, it was an unbeatable game one just gets better and better at. "A plague. Something that either needs to be contained or killed...shame that all of these people are opting for the latter route. Too many lives are being lost for this job." Malachi had accepted that this civil war between humans and owls was taking it's toll on many, many things in society. The economy of course was being hit the hardest. If it weren't for the Iranian's philosophies and his love for the works of Immanuel Kant, he may have threw his gun down and left a long time ago.
"If this weren't my job.....I know I wouldn't be doing this.....", said Malachi as he inhaled hard on his cigarette. After ashes formed, he didn't pluck them off. They fell once their weight became too much for the cigarette to bare. When the new cancer stick was made old by Malachi's frequent inhalations and puffs, he flicked it away and waited for the elevator to arise. The signal that it arrived had rang and believing it to be the elevator he as facing, he took a step forward. The human/owl soldier was thrown for a loop when the elevator at the other end of the hall opened ********. A bullet whizzed past the commander's face leaving not blood, but a smoldering pile of badly burned skin in it's place. It wasn't the bullet that cause this though. It was Malachi's power that had yet to be revealed. The dark haired man that opted to not wearing a helmet turned around, exhaled a deep gray cloud of smoke and took his 50.AE Desert Eagle into his left hand. "I won't even need my good gun for this....Max! Get everyone down to the streets. I've got these fools...go! Now!"

Max fired what was left in his gun at the Owls before moving from his spot at the wall, moving back to the elevator as he reloaded. "Well, I hope you know what you're doing Malachi, if not, I call dibs on your gun." Max smiled and looked behind him as the door to the express elevator opened, to make sure no one was in it. He waited till the rest of the team was in the elevator before backing in himself and hitting the button. The elevator doors closed and the elevator started heading down to the garage. Max sighed and said, "One of these days his reckless 'lone hero' act is going to get him killed." Max checked his gun for anything wrong again, he couldn't have it malfunctioning on him when he needed it, and waited in silence until the elevator came to a stop and the doors opened. The parking garage was dark, apparently the lights had either been turned off, or all blown out, since there was still power to the building. Max switched on his flashlight and scanned the area before stepping out into the dark and ushering the rest of the team out of the elevator. The light that spilled into the darkened garage faded and disappeared completely as the elevator doors closed. "Good place for a ambush..." Max thought as he stepped quietly towards where the exit signs pointed.
The well planned ambush that Max had expected never happened, as the team made it to the street with no problems. Max looked around; there was no one in the street at all. Max was surprised for a second, but then figured that the Owls were probably up in the penthouse getting their asses handed to them by Malachi. "Alright, we wait three minutes, if Malachi isn't down here by then, we move on to the next target. We need to get out of the open and away from this building." Max gave the team a signal to move over to an alleyway across the street, enclosed enough so that they wouldn't be such an obvious target for any Owls that might happen across them. With the team waiting for Malachi, Max looked up towards the building, attempting to see if there was any hint of Malachi's battle against the Owls in the penthouse. Max couldn't see anything from where he was, but he had a feeling Malachi would be fine.

((NPC---Teagan))
Teagan was once again silent as the others discussed their exit from the building. They settled on the idea of using the express elevator and eventually made their way to where it was. Of course, like Max had predicted more Exire Owls arrived on sight via the opposite elevator and prepared to launch their attack. Teagan already had her rifle aimed and ready but found her attacking would not be needed. Malachai had given his order and stated he wanted Max to get everyone else into the elevator and out of the building. Sparing the chain smoker one last glance, Teagan entered the elevator behind Max and Samy. “Let him have his fun” She muttered in response to Max’s lone hero comment. The red haired woman scanned the elevator and quickly located the cctv camera which she shut down in mere seconds of making contact.
Once the remaining team members and herself were out of the elevator Max gave the usual rundown speech of ‘we wait for 3 minutes blah blah blah’ Due to her lack of interest Teagan was quick to space out once again. She stared wide eyed at her computer as she immersed herself into her own little world. She had no doubt in her mind that Malachai would be taken out by such reckless untrained Owls. They had come charging in for attack without planning anything. And, Max hadn’t been the only one who expected an ambush. Unless…the Exire beings were able to think the way they did… “It smells.” Teagan muttered as she scanned the area they were now standing in. An alleyway surrounded by metallic buildings. New Exire was certainly something. “1 minute 43 seconds” Now it was her turn to stare towards the building they had just vacated. “Malachai…Don’t let all that smoke go to your head.” She smirked and glanced back down towards the flickering screen.

Malachi had made short work of the Exirian Owls that flooded the floor of their now deceased general. They wanted the blood of the team, but Malachi, the smoker, wasn't going to allow them to get to his subordinates and friends that easily. He was out of cigarettes, but he had enough of their slowly killing fumes to fight with. Dropping his gun back into the holster strapped securely to his waist, he drew in a deep breath to as if to focus amidst the flurry of bullets and rubber armed punches sent at him by his attackers. When he finally exhaled, the hallway was quickly filled with methane gas bringing everyone except for himself to tears and a coughing fit. One of the younger fighters was dead by his feet from the shots fired...Malachi was willing to avenge him.
In moments, the windows of the hallway burst open giving way to methane flowing out of the floor onto the streets. Team Empty hadn't met with any opposition yet so that meant they were still unnoticed by any of the Exirians. Good. When he reshaped, first taking the form of a figure made of smoldering ash, he greeted his team with a nod. "Stop counting Teagan. I'm not dead yet damn it." The smoker found himself a cancer stick laying on the ground and picked it up before lighting it. For his teammates that understood his power, they knew that his chain smoking wasn't an addiction, but rather a way to keep him close to his element. As he wasn't an Owl, his knowledge of becoming an element would be lost if it weren't for the Newports that was always clutched between his lips. Continuing into the evening light escaping the alleyway, he held his gun briefly and waved it before Max's face. "Not today genius. Maybe at the next building you'll get it huh?"

((NPC---Teagan))
Teagan stared blankly at her computer screen as Malachi made his appearance in his usual smoky manner. She looked up when he spoke about her counting. “Hm? 45seconds….Congrats, you beat your last lone hero act time…I will make a note to buy you a drink to go with that cigarette” Her emerald eyes sparkled with mischief as a shadow of a smile momentarily flickered across her face but vanished from sight as she once again stared down at her clever little hand held device. “Hm…” She tucked a few strands of hair behind her ears and nodded her head once before staring back up towards the others.
“We have movement headed towards us…We should move on.” Teagan stared from Max to Malachi and frowned somewhat “When you two are quite finished of course….” Her lack or rather dry sense of humour was apparently missing for the time being; instead it was her business mode that was in play. “CCTV cameras are all inactive within this area. It won’t be long before they pick up on this and send more people our way” She placed a hand on her hip and tucked her computer away. “But I guess we can continue sitting around exchanging guns….” And there it was, her usual sarcastic attitude and outlook on everything.

Max smirked as Malachi formed in front of them as a figure of ash. He frowned when he picked up a cigarette from the ground and rolled his eyes at his leader's comment about the gun. "You and I both know I'm not that lucky boss. And here; you owe me 15 bucks." Max reached into his pack and tossed an entire carton of cigarettes at Malachi, he had picked them up for really cheap while he was on vacation. Max didn't smoke but he figured Malachi would appreciate it, and it would help him use his smoke powers. He looked around then said, "Well if we're going to get to the other generals, we should move now, other Owls are probably on their way here. If I remember correctly, he's only a few blocks south of here, he'll probably be more heavily guarded than the last one, so we should prepare for that." Max checked his weapon and listened to Teagan before saying, "As much as I hate to admit it, the snarky skank is right, we shouldn't be wasting time here."
