At least Vence was able enough to hear Mayloo's words, and more importantly, comprehend them. The difficult part was trying to say something back.

"You don't have to, if you don't want to," Vence replied softly, deciding to speak whatever came to mind. He was a little surprised by himself, but he didn't show it. Now that he thought of it...it wasn't such a bad proposition, as long as nothing else happpened. This may have been his first relationship, but it wasn't like he was going to dive in headfirst without a care.

[ 3nodding Been there, done that, and I can agree. smile ]

Vence smiled, taking her hand and holding it.

"Well, it's up to you, really." He glanced out a small window he had not noticed before, and could clearly see the two moons rising fast, overlappin each other. The night was still young, but when you were on a ship, the days started early, and he didn't want to deprive either of them from decent sleep. Turning back to Mayloo, he gave her a quick hug before breaking their embrace fully, still holding her hands though.

"Either way, we need some rest."

Vence glanced at the bed, considering the size of it. Given, he could easily say if they were sleeping together...just sleeping, nothing else...they would have to be close together. As for which side...

"Whichever side you don't choose, I suppose," Vence replied, smiling to himself. "I really have no preference." He looked back to Mayloo.

"You know, I don't think you have," Vence said. He took his deck of cards, after realizing they were still beside him, and stashed them back into their place, before also taking his place beside Mayloo. He lay at his side, his head resting on his hand, facing the girl that lay beside him.

"And I don't think I did either."

[x] Dunno, never happened in a house razz We were at a lock-in at church, and it was around one in the morning, so me, my gf, and a bunch of my friends all nestled around the Bell Tower. smile ]

As Mayloo fell asleep, he smiled, as he bade goodnight with a simple kiss on her head which rested upon his chest. He glanced at the lights on the walls, regarding them with mild interest. He blinked, and quite suddenly the lights flickered out. He felt a twinge of energy within him die out, but it was instantly replenished by more.

With the darkness, thoughts of the same likeness follow suit. He stared at the adjacent wall, thoughts of the past and tomorrow coming to mind. They had been prevented from leaving Altyrys...why? What was so impotant that the city was being quarentiened? A virus? A dangerous man on the loose? Something was off as they had departed the city, that was all he knew.

And tomorrow. If they made good time, and the Gods favored it, they may make it to the small riverside town by the end of the day. It had been a long time since he had seen his old friend Theil, and he felt slightly anxious about their unexpected and impromptu meeting. Would he be welcomed with open arms, or something else?

These thoughts are pointless, Vence thought to himself. And yet, the first of his troubles lingered, and even with Mayloo there closer than beside him, they remained...

Zevach stood pacing about his newly decorated room, mostly in shades of deep purples and violets. There was black, greys and such as well, but that color in particular seemed to be right for him. He glanced out the window, to the rich city of Altyrys. It was night here, and everything was peaceful.

Perhaps a change can be made, he said to himself, and turned to face the entrance; two solid oak, heavy doors. On each side was posted a fearful creature, Reaching a height of nearly 9 feet, almost touching the ceiling. When you looked down though, they did not stand, but rather their pitch-black cloaks fluttered and they defied gravity. If they had feet, no one knew., Their bony, hideous hands extended out from their shrouds of darkness, and their long fingers each clasped around an even more gruesome blade, a scythe much larger and more apparent of its use; as a weapon to kill. From their hoods, you could not discern their head, but what you could see was only two small lights, distinctly red, that on any other man would paralyze them with fear.

Not he, Zevach, Lord of the Shadows, however. With him, he had nothing to fear. He glanced at each one posted at the doors' frame and spoke to them in a commanding tone, "Summon the others, I want it over quickly. Be sure to leave the targets alive; everyone else, do what you wish."

The creatures gave a hiss of approval, which to any other might have sounded more like their worst nightmare. Indeed, the demons certainly lived up to their names: Nitemares. One turned to the door and vanished through it, the other flew siletly away out the window.

Zevach smiled to himself as the screems began.

A dark corrider stretched endlessly, no doors found on either side of the brick walls. Instead, strange carvings, some painted, were depicted. All of them concerned Vence.

Behind him, there was a single door. He tried it, only to find it locked. Around the frame, he could see the light. What that was, he did not know. He stood there, staring at the door, unable to do anything more.

A whisper came from behind. He turned, and saw... nothing. The corridor stretched on with no one or thing in sight but he. But again, he heard a whisper. His name, spoken by some unseen thing, growing louder. He took a step forward, making no noise (he had heard no sound yet except the voice). He felt a chill cross his spine, and his hair move with the wind...except there was no wind.

Vence peered into the hallway, now growing darker. Something was there. He turned to look at the wall, and found himself staring at a painting of him battling some terrible fiend. He was in pain, clutching his side as he stared up at the monster, a scythe raised above it's head ready to strike....

His name, spoken louder. He turned, and saw the corridor was blackened. He turned to the door, the light still etched around it's frame. Again, he tried it, and was unsuccessful. A cold shiver fell down his spine; this time, it remained. He turned, and the shadows swirled around, and new voices could be heard. Distant. Screaming, echoing across the walls. Fear rose up inside. It was growing louder, faster, but he still could not see. The silent wind grew stronger, and he tured to his other side, at the wall. The image there, he wished he hadn't seen. Blackness engulfed him, the screams drowing out all sound as he silently shouted for this madness to end...

Vence opened his eyes wide, taking in a deep breath. He could...still hear the screaming, ringing in his ears. The last image he saw still burned in his mind. He took another deep breath; he was cold with sweat. But he knew...that had been no dream; that had been no nightmare...

It took him a moment to realize where he was. Still in bed, on a ship, beside a girl.

Mayloo, he said to himself, taking a shaking hand and brushing a few strands of hair from her face, I hope you are having better dreams than I.

He looked to the small window. Though still dark, he could see a grey light, only barely. Morning was coming, but not for a while. As if he would sleep after what he saw. He closed his eyes, trying to find some comfort to ease the pain of his thoughts.

The dawn was quickly making it's presence known, as sunlight began to stream in from the small window. Muffled noises could be heard as well, meaning people were up and about.

Vence had no intention of getting up yet, however. The night had taken its toll on him, and he felt drained of energy.

That was no dream, he still told himself. And if that's the case, was it, I dunno, a vision or something? Whith what he'd read nad been told about them, he didn't seem far off. Soo...what's it mean?

He felt Mayloo stir beside him, and he turned to face her again. Somehow, watching her calmed his nerves. He was no longer restless like a few hours before, just from being with her.

I guess I have more than one thing to thnk the gods for. And for the first time that morning, he smiled.
